Not a fan. If you are looking for a place to go dance to top 40s music and get hit on by old guys then you might like it here. Don’t expect to play pool or darts on a weekend night though. They shut them down for the dancing…

Really enjoyed the bangers and mash-excellent! My wife had the Mahi Mahi sandwich blackened, the portion was excellent with fries — she loved it! The outdoor patio overlooking the lake is delightful and the music was fun. Our server Maria was friendly knowledgeable and helpful. We were very happy with our experience and look forward to coming back!

The service at the bar area was terrible, my server was on his phone and not aware of anything. I had to get this attention the entire time. Not to mention half the women there just have the rudest faces on like they hate their job. It was an overall bad experience.

I’ve never had a good experience here. The food is not great and the management can’t seem to seat people on time or get food out of the kitchen on time. The bar is constantly out of the drafts they offer, which indicates poor bar management. Also, if you are looking for a later night spot, they have an odd dress code that is not posted anywhere. We were not allowed entry because of a member of our group who was wearing camouflage. Granted, any establishment has the right to set their own dress code, but it’s advisable to post the qualifications somewhere rather that reject people at the door. not to mention that we could see people in the restaurant already who were wearing bandanas, tie-dye shirts, etc… so, the denial of entry appeared completely arbitrary.

Don’t come here. Service is super slow. They were out of almost everything on the menu(something they could have told us before we were seated).

Unfortunately our waitress served us cold food. She was pretty slow. I will go again and try the food again to see if i can be served edible food. They have a great view of the pond/lake though.

First time here. Thursday night. Not busy at all. Service– terrible. Servers were wandering around. Still, we wondered where our server was to come get our order. The cup of soup I ordered never came. The food took forrrever to arrive. Beverages were not refilled in a timely manner. Food– edible but not worth returning for. We ordered the fish & chips, and bangers & mash which were two of their standard«British fare». Very underwhelming. Fish & chips dish was more accurately fries with a side of fish. Soooooo greasy. Coleslaw side had mostly onions than anything else. Bangers & mash dish was the same story– a mountain of mashed potatoes with a side of three bangers. Groupon discount confirmed that we don’t ever want to return.

First and last time I’ll go. Let’s start with drinks. I ordered a Moscow Mule and got something in a clear glass that tasted like a margarita. Definitely NOT a Moscow mule. Apps were decent — had wings, fried pickles, and crab dip. For entrees, we had the cottage pie and fish and chips. Both average at best. We had a burned apple cobbler for desert. Service was terribly slow. It was busy and we weren’t in a hurry, but we found ourselves waiting far too long with empty glasses. Expensive for a below average experience.

So many people would love to think that racism doesn’t exist but unfortunately it still does. I experienced it first-hand yesterday at the restaurant. The manager’s only words to me were, pardon me, because he had to reach the utility closet. He walked pass our table several times and not one hello, how’s your meal, is this your first time here etc. I noticed him chatting and laughing with other people but it was like screw us. Basically I just want your money but I’m not going to treat you with any respect. A black couple came in to use the pool tables and they were standing there waiting for them to be free. They were totally ignored and the manager could care less how long the other customers have been playing. That couple finally left. As Jesse and I were leaving the host said bye and the manager was standing right there talking with her. That would’ve been a perfect time to show that you cared about all of your customers not just certain ones. He literally said nothing. He could’ve said, thanks for coming, I hope you come again, how was your meal, anything to justify being a jerk. I read a review on Unilocal yesterday that was just posted when a family went for brunch. Let’s just say that I like to experience things for myself. I will never return there again. I believe that everyone should be treated equally regardless of their skin color. They need to fire that manager and put someone else in his place. I only went because I read on the website that kids build their own pizza on Sunday’s. I had to ask the server about that because it wasn’t offered to us. I was craving a Mimosa since Easter and they so called ran out of champagne. Next time I’ll go with my gut feeling and stick with my son’s favorite restaurant which is silver diner. The manager’s and the servers are awesome there.

Went here on a Sunday for brunch with my sister since she had a Groupon. Biggest mistake ever. When we arrived, there were only about five other tables occupied. That should’ve been the first red flag. Although, it was still ‘church hours’. Nevertheless, we still had the worst service imaginable. There were only two waiters on the floor, and of course, we get stuck with the one who couldn’t care less. After getting our drink orders, my mimosa still doesn’t show up until 5 – 10 min. after reminding him while ordering our entrees. He didn’t seem to even remember my initial order at all. Wow. After about another 15 min. or so, our food finally comes out. My sister had the Banger Scramble(scrambled eggs & potato — which tasted like cut up french fries). While I had the Crème Brulee French Toast. I tried some of hers, and the eggs were bland and runny. The French toast was nearly inedible, being incredibly soggy and tasted like raw batter. I’m not sure if that was supposed to be the crème brûlée, but it certainly did not taste like custard. I was honestly afraid I might catch salmonella or something. The bread itself was not brioche, either, but rather some cheap kind of sandwich bread. I decided to power through it anyways since I’m always paranoid about sending food back, unless it’s a rare instance when I receive the wrong item. I felt nauseous eating the gelatinous mess. When we finish what we could of our meals, we sat around for another solid 20 min. at least, without any kind of acknowledgement or check-in by the server. We were going to order dessert to fill up the rest of the groupon value, but he just took way too long. So, we decided to just cut our losses and close the check. I ended up having to walk over to what looked to be the manager to ask for our check. The waiter was nearby hiding in the kitchen and said that he was printing it out and would bring it over. Thanks for asking us if we needed anything else first, not. After entering the code, he says that the total is zero. I tell my sis the tip is up to her, but I’d just leave it at that. She leaves him a deuce anyways, although he did not deserve a single red cent. On second thought, I’d leave him another kind of deuce. I’m not sure if the server just assumed we had a groupon even before we sat down, which is why his service was so horrible, or if he just really is a bad waiter. If it’s the former, then a server should still provide quality service if they expect a reasonable tip, regardless of any discounts used. Either way, I definitely will not be returning for food, and seriously reconsidering even going here for live band /dance nights. I advise everyone to do the same.

Love this place, the staff always makes me feel at home and treats me as if I am a VIP. I have never had a bad experience once here. Gesina is absolutely amazing and I would be honored to have her work at any place in which I am involved.

Came here twice with my bestie. Ugh ever again. Drinks watered down but at least they were cheap. I guess if you’re just looking for a quiet night place to have a drink at then by all means. The band is always fun but I don’t understand why there is not music playing afterwards? just dead silence. I think it’s about the atmosphere. Bartender service was quick and I was able to pay my tab promptly when asked to close.

This place is awful. The service is slow, even on Sunday morning/afternoon. The bathrooms are disgusting. And the management is mean and horrible. When I got my food it looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for way too long. My friend’s food was cold already. You can go somewhere else for better food for about the same price.

I seriously just come here because of the location. It’s really convenient being in rio. There’s nothing special about the drinks. Overpriced and just another bar. But i will say that everything i’ve ever tried on the food menu has been really disappointing. Only thing i’d say is halfway decent are the pretzel sticks with the mustard dipping appetizer. They come out hot and ready to munch on. Service is ALWAYS and i repeat ALWAYS terrible and i can’t figure out why. Bartenders and servers always seem to be MIA.

Yuck. If you want good service with quick turnaround, this is NOT the bar you want. My drinks were not good and it took forever to pay my tab. I wouldn’t return here.

Came here at noon with a friend after a movie at the AMC theater nearby. The waiter was attentive and friendly, consistently checking up on us to ask if we needed anything. My friend and I weren’t too hungry, so we shared the fish and chips, which they kindly split for us into two plates. There were a total of two pieces of battered fish, crispy and tender, which a generous serving of fries. I do wish the fries were a little crispier though. Overall, satisfied with my experience here and would likely come back.

Union Jack’s is located on the boardwalk of Washingtonian Rio between Tara Thai and Guapo’s. Usually, there are security guards standing outside to check IDs but since it was raining, there was only a hostess at the hostess booth. This location had only one floor with a dining area, bar area, pool and darts area, and stage area. My friend and I got a table in the pool area which had two black felt tables and many cue sticks to pick from. Some of the cue sticks were sticky. The pool table operated on quarters and it cost $ 2 per game. I felt that even though the location is newer, the Bethesda location has better pool tables — they are maintained more frequently. While we were waiting for our food, we decided to play a game of pool. Since my friend liked seafood and spicy and the crab cakes were $ 18 – 26, I suggested the Red Thai Seafood Pasta which consisted of linguine topped with large mussels, jumbo shrimps, tomatoes, and minced garlic. It was supposed to be in red Thai curry sauce but tasted more like a creamy vodka sauce with a hint of basil and cilantro. Even though it may not been the right sauce, it tasted delicious. Although, my friend felt that pasta portion was lacking and that the mussels were quite sandy — like«beach in my mouth». We admitted that our server forgot to charge us for our beer but the bartender said don’t worry about it.

TIP: if you’re in your 20’s, you might not want to come here. The following will explain why… I came here around 9:30pm to meet with a group of people. I usually stray away from these kind of pubs, because it’s not my scene. However, I reluctantly came here since they were already here. The bouncer said there’s a $ 12 cover… WHAT?! It was $ 12 because there was a live band playing… but $ 12?! At this place?! I also reluctantly handed $ 12 to the hostess. I walked in and the place looked like those regular pubs where people walk in with shorts and flip flops, and some people looked all grimy. I paid no mind to them, since I was here to meet my friends. The biggest turn-off about this place was the music they were playing. They were playing rock music… some old rock music. I usually listen to hip-hop and EDM, so this was very shocking. I’m not sure how people dance to this type of music. Also, the crowd was much older than us… we looked like jailbait. The only great thing about this place is that their drinks are cheap. If you come here during happy hour, you get $ 2 off any alcoholic beverage! This would be a good place to pregame, but not to stay for the night. Overall, I would not come back to this place and listen to some rock music. However, if you are in your 30s and 40s and more mature, you’d probably have a great time here, especially if you love rock songs. Unfortunately, this is not my type of scene, but other people might find this place a lot of fun. Everyone has their own preferences.
