Mr Tire Auto Service Centers

I dropped my car off to get a Maryland state inspection. So they had my car a few hours more than I thought so I called and they said it did not pass inspection for one back shock. They told me they recommend I get both back shocks. So they quoted me $ 430 both back shocks labor and shocks. So I went to GTP motorsports in flower Hill and I only paid $ 140 for both shocks with labor. So I take my car in the morning and they dont know when the Maryland State inspector will arrive so I just left my car and went to work a few hours later my car pass and I went to go pick it up.

The first thing to know is that my car is over twenty years old. Needless to say, I’ve spent more time (and money) at this place than I necessarily would like. I’m honestly not certain if it’s a good thing or a bad thing that several of the staff know exactly who I am and what I drive the moment that I walk in the door.
That said, despite the fact that my wallet wishes I’d visit them a bit less often, overall I’ve had good experiences at this facility.
First, the negatives. As other people have said, there’s definitely a wait at times. If you happen to come in at the wrong time of day (what time of day is the wrong time changes frequently, unfortunately), you might stand around for a good ten minutes waiting for someone who can help you to come up to the desk. They’re usually good at having someone who can’t help you come by to tell you that someone who can help will be there soon, but it still grates a bit to have to just stand there waiting.
Also, be careful to pay attention when they’re telling you everything that your car needs. They do have a tendency to lump everything together as being «urgent», even when — at times — what they’re telling you needs to be fixed would be fine waiting a little while before being seen to. Just keep in mind that if you tell them «no thanks,» that’s usually the end of it.
Other than two issues, though, I don’t have any complaints. The prices are usually reasonable, and they’re good at keeping you updated if something is taking longer than expected. I work nearby, so I’ll usually leave my car there and come back for it, but the handful of times I’ve stayed in the waiting room I haven’t had any problems with it other than the occasional other customer with really bad taste in television shows (but that’s an issue almost anywhere).
If you’re looking for a decent shop, I definitely recommend this store. They’re very good at taking care of their customers.

What is the point of making an appointment to wait another three hours once you get there? Either don’t take appointments or know how to schedule your staff based on the work. Cars getting service first even though they get there after. This place is a mess.

Awful awful awful! First time getting my tires replaced and you’d think with a name like «Mr. Tire» you’d be getting the best experience for tire repair. Not even close. I walked in the store and no one was in the office for almost 10 minutes. When I was asked what size tires I had, I said «I’m not sure. I can give the make and model of my car». Clerk asked if the car right outside was mine and he groaned when he had to go out and check. Uh, sorry dude?
Once we figured out the tire size, he gave me some options with prices, which all seemed reasonable and standard. Finally gave me a quote of $ 850 including a $ 300 alignment! For a tire change?! I just left after that. The next day I went to a local shop in Rockville and they charged half the price with a free alignment.
I have a couple friends that had very similar experiences with this place. I feel bad for people who are just trying to get repairs done. If you don’t know what you’re supposed to be paying, these guys will rip you off without even flinching. Avoid this place!

I’ve had two sets of tires installed at this location now. Bought my tires from
and had them shipped here for install. The quoted price was spot on. Service was good and staff helpful. Docking one star due to my tires not being inflated to the right pressures. Each tire had a different pressure… simple checks like this would help in the future especially when my car tells you exactly how much is in each :)

I’ve been in the vehicle sales and service sector for 13 years. I have been using Mr. Tire for tire needs since 2008, at multiple locations.
The staff was very polite and helped arrange for a tire install in less than 24 hours notice. The tires I preferred had to be brought in.
I just had four new Michelin Defender tires installed. All around the best price once you realize what is included. Everything their technician discovered I was already aware of. They even showed me one additional issue, fluid leaking from one strut, that a local dealer (whom just repaired my control arm bushings) missed.
I trust this company so much I recommend my children and family members use them. Of course being I am in the car business I rely on my company for the majority of my regular service needs.
In an emergency I would not hesitate to use Mr. Tire if it was something they covered.

Despite the poor reviews, I came here because of $ 19.99 coupon I had for an oil change, air filter replacement, and tire rotation. The total came out to be close to $ 30 with a 2 hour wait with an appointment. I would rather just go to Jiffy next time for an oil change.

Tire prices are cheaper than others places. Will try to sell you stuff you don’t need. Scheduling an appointment is sometimes difficult. We leave satisfied but I wouldn’t give it five or even four stars.

Just got all four tires replaced a couple weeks ago. I went to a number of other locations in the area for price quotes and this location has the best quality for a reasonable price. Santiago was very nice and patient with all my questions. He also gave me a great deal since I needed the service done ASAP. I would go back here for any other servicing.

Had two fine experiences in one day with oil changes on two cars. Maurice (Mo?) and Sandy (?) respectively handled my transactions and did so pleasantly and professionally. They honored coupons with no up-​selling and no delays. Only complaint — if it even rises to the level of a complaint — is that the waiting room is run-​down and dingy and doesn’t have wi-​fi. Free coffee, though!

They had great customer service and we’re quick and friendly. No complaints

Took my wife’s car here and got the oil change and tire rotation deal for $ 20. Dropped the car off and ran some errands while they took care of it. Mo called me fairly quickly and of course they checked the car and tried to sell me a few different things for the car but I go to pick the car up and asked if they rotated the tires. They said no but weren’t going to tell me so good thing I asked!

I had a flat tire and didn’t want to make the commute into DC and back on a donut spare, with no other spare. MR Tire worked me in to their schedule and got me back on the road quickly (about an hour, in and out). The guys working the counter were courteous and professional, and the reasonable cost to patch the tire, rebalance and mount it, and put the spare back came in right on the estimate (about $ 35).
I know other customers have cited issues here in the past (most seemingly more than a year ago), but my recent experience leads me to recommend MR Tire.

When trying to price match talk to their company not the shop. The shop gave me a higher price then what the mr. tire company said they were supposed to give us

Be careful, if you are a female, somehow I feel I did not get the best deal… THIS WAS after the fact.

Update: Got my Rotors and Pads replaces plus a brake flush at Pep Boys for $ 368 after tax. Saved about $ 300 from what they quoted me at Mr. Tire.

I hate going to auto shops because I always think the staff will try and take advantage of me because I am a woman. The guys here were nice to me.
I went to get 4 new tires for my truck (which was in bad shape btw because I don’t drive it that much and haven’t kept up on the maintenance). I placed my reservation on line. When I arrived they couldn’t locate my info in the system nor could they find the tires I requested. Eeek! But they offered to order the tires which meant I would have to return (take another day off of work!) to have the tires mounted OR have new, better quality tires that will fit my truck… because they did have those in stock. I chose the latter of course! The mechanic also showed/​told me about major service that I needed on the brakes. He said it was dangerous for me to drive it like that. I knew this already but I must say I did NOT feel pressured to make an additional purchase they way they do at the dealership service centers. I felt like the mechanic was seriously concerned and wanted me to have an informed opinion about making the proper decisions for my vehicle. Even though they never ordered my tires they remedied the situation and gave me better ones and honored the price of the lesser ones. That’s good customer service. That is why they deserve 5 stars.
Also, COUPONS are usually available on their website which really helps with the cost of service.

I went only because I had a Groupon and it was well worth it. In addition to the oil change and tire rotation which was the purpose of my visit they also found explained that the check engine light detected a problem. They explained my options, printed documentation regarding the problem, and took time to show me the actual work that was being completed. Not once did I feel as though I was being upselled or taken advantage of because I’m a woman.

I needed to have my 4 tires replaced. So, I shopped around and called the stored. On the phone, I ask their salesperson if they had my tires in stock and I could come by in 15 minutes to replace the tires. He said «yes, come by. it will only take one hour to replace your tires.» Then he took down my name and contact number. When I came by, I met the manager and told him I had appoint for tire replacement. He said «We don’t have your tires in stocks and it will take a week to order». He also said «You have no appointment today.»
I told him I would never use his service or come by to his store because there are a bunch of liars working for him.
This place doesn’t even deserve a one star rating. Don’t ever bring your car there.

If you’re looking this place up to see whether if you should bring your car here for repairs, let me answer that question for you: NO.
Here’s why: I brought my car in because I’ve been hearing some sort of scraping sound whenever I make a turn so I thought I should have it checked out. When I dropped off the car, they said it’ll be about a couple hours for them to figure it out. 4 ½ hours later they finally found the problem — the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. The cost? $ 410. Good thing they called me while I was at home — so I did some research and found out repairs for this sort of thing usually go for $ 150-​$ 250 for parts and labor. The part seemed to cost about $ 75.
So I went back to the store and noticed they charged me $ 265 for the part. Ridiculous! I politely turned down the repair and I suddenly got a cold look from the mechanic and he threatened that the tire will «FALL OFF IMMEDIATELY». I declined once again and drove home (about 30 miles away) with all 4 tires still on the car. So much for that warning.
I ended up going to Rayco in Silver Spring and they charged $ 200 flat for parts and labor and they were SO much more accommodating. So avoid this place like the plaque and go for Rayco for quality service. I’m glad I did!
