This store is a cut above the other department stores in this Mall because the sales associates actually approach you and ask if they can help. I am the primary purchaser of clothing for one of my grandchildren. We find that that the prices, styles and availability of skinnier clothing she can fit into to be exceptional. You can outfit a kid for a school year without breaking the bank(Hey, this is Gaithersburg, not Potomac) Their men’s departments also carries Big and Large. The women’s underwear department is huge and carries a lot of different brands. Household department is small here. Workout clothing is pretty reasonably priced, but if you don’t get it at the beginning of the season, best to order from the catalogue — the store doesn’t seem to restock. They have decent sales at the end of the season.

Worst customer service I’ve ever seen and I’ve used JCP portraits in other places without a problem. The photographer seemed bored and had no creative ideas. Her suggestion for my family portrait, in which my family was dressed in their Sunday best, was to lay on the floor«because it was a fun shot.» She also stuffed white tulle between my daughter’s shoes which looked like toilet paper in the shot. I ordered and paid for a photo CD of the few usable photos I liked and the staff lost it and refused to try to locate it, insisting that I already picked it up, which I had not. The whole experience felt hostile, and like me bringing my family for a photo was an inconvenience to them. I get that this is not a high-end portrait studio, but don’t waste people’s time and give them attitude when they are trying to patronize your business. Poor form, JCP.

Manger? Older employee? Joe? was fantastically helpful and nice. Store is clean and well stocked. The prices are good. For Lakeforest Mall, this store is a gem.

horrible experience. we never usually shop at JCP, but we were browsing around and found some fragile christmas tree ornaments at decent prices. we purchased about 7 of them, and when we did, they had nothing to wrap it with. Any other store we’ve been to in which we purchase fragile things, they wrap it in paper so it won’t break. They cashier just had this dazed look on his face when we asked him to wrap it. when he pressed him, he actually said he’d wrap it with a pastic bag, but would charge us 5 cents per bag. customer service at it’s best… no wonder why JCP is going bankrupt and can’t compete with other department stores…
