First time I came here and I loved it! I ordered the Green Curry, Panang Curry and Asia Nine Lomain! The prices are good and the location of the restaurant is nice. I will be back for sure.

I love Asian food and I was hoping this place would be a go to in the area. Unfortunately, the food was horrible. The ambiance is nice but our selected foods were not. I had high hopes for the hoisin bbq ribs, it was a tad dry and there was no flavor at all. The mashed potatoes as well had no flavor. Someone else ordered the three flavor tilapia, once again no flavor. We actually just paid for the food and left it there basically uneaten. I am a foodie so I will not indulge in lack of flavor food.

Came here with my family for dinner, the services was very fast and friendly. We ordered the Beef Drunken Noodle, soft crab sushi roll, calamari, panag curry with chicken and avocado salad. The food was good but not worth the price but the food did come out within 15 minutes of order being placed so I was happy with that. The manager/owner? came out and gave the kids some pencils and stamps which was very nice of them. The avocado salad was very yummy, came with radish, carrots, arugula, sesame seed and something crunchy along with of course avocado. I loved the dressing on the salad and would order it again. But again this place is good but I honestly believe you’re paying for the decoration more than the food, the décor is pretty though.

I was hesitant to try this restaurant based on the mixed reviews but I am so glad I chose to experience it myself. My bestie and I decided to try it out since we were both craving some type of asian cusine that wasnt carry out. Sooooooo listen… this place met my incredibly high standards. I’ll tell you why I gave 4 stars in a second. The Introduction: The place wasnt crowded but it was also a random rainy Thursday and it actually picked up later. I hate I missed the happy hour because it looked awesome. The décor is definitely something to look at; it’s really pretty inside. We were greeted and seated with a friendly smile which I can always appreciate. The Food: So the main purpose was to get soup and sushi. So random. Sooo me and my bestie. We started off with 2 rolls and sushi each. I did the Maryland roll and salmon and avocado. A+. My bestie had the Philly roll and the soft shell crab roll, she loved it so A+ there too. For my entrée, I chose the Kapow which was really good but super saucy. I would say I needed more rice but I guess less sauce would do. My bestie got the Korean beef dish and I was hating. I will say that I liked hers more than mine and I loved my saucy delight. I didn’t drink that night but I loved the drink options so I will have to return for the happy hour for sure. I also can’t wait for more sushi because it was definitely better and more reasonable than some of the other places I in the area.

Absolutely fantastic. Edamame app, very fresh, lightly salted, steamed perfectly Avocado salad, as always, perfectly ripe avocado with some greens and very freshly spiralized carrot and beet. Miso citrus dressing. delicious. Vegetarian spicy roll(avocado, jalapeño, cucumber, cilantro), perfect balance, jalapeño adds great flavor and just a touch of heat. Green curry(with vegetables). Again… Perfectly cooked with fresh vegetables, and not just some peppers, but also bamboo(fresh! Not from can), carrot, broccoli, Asian eggplant, and other vegetables. Atmosphere is great, very cool design.

Asia Nine is a new Asian fusion restaurant in Downtown Crown shopping center. It’s located kinda towards the back next to &Pizza. There’s a parking garage right around the corner so it’s not too far of a walk. Inside it’s decorated very nicely and has plenty of seating. My friend and I were hoping for some sushi specials during lunch, but unfortunately the only«specials» were the bento boxes. Otherwise, the rolls were still the same price as they were for dinner. I opted for the Sushi Three Ways, which comes with sashimi, sushi and a spicy roll with your choice of tuna, yellowtail, or salmon. I went with the tuna and the fish tasted fresh. My meal also came with a salad and a miso soup. I wasn’t crazy about the dressing on the salad but the miso was surprisingly very flavorful. My friend said her sushi was okay. We both agreed though that there’s better sushi in Gaithersburg. Asia Nine wouldn’t be my first choice among the other restaurants in Downtown Crown, but I’d maybe stop by again. Tip: If you like Asia Nine’s Facebook page you’ll get a free edamame appetizer.

We tried to love this place, we really really did. The pros: — the décor is interesting and comment worthy — tons of seating, and the host(ess) is very quick to seat us — it seems that no matter how busy it is, we can usually get seated within 15 minutes — the staff is polite and prompt However, the cons really makes it hard for us to make this a go-to spot: — the menu is a schizophrenic mess; there is Thai, Chinese, and Japanese all on the menu, and the fusion items just aren’t that great. The thing is — each one of these types of cuisines have a very strong flavor profile and when you try to «fuse» these items together, you either get a mishmosh of flavors that don’t *quite* to together, or they try to temper for the flavors so you get a very bland and pale imitation of the real thing — even when sticking to the more traditional dishes, it’s still just not that great. It’s OK and I wouldn’t kick it out of bed, but I’m also not going to go out of my way to order average Kapow or average lo-mein That said, if you’re in this new Downtown Crown area, and all the other restaurants have too long of a wait, this is a decent fall-back. Just don’t expect to be wow’d.

Wings, wings, wings! They were fantastic. It’s definitely a must order appetizer wise. My mom and I actually only ordered one thai wings appetizer but the waiter accidentally brought out two plates of it and didn’t charge or for the second plate. More wings for us! They were very meaty and perfectly fried, with a sweet/spicy sauce glazed over them. We also ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and the ka pow rice with chicken both good dishes, not the best in the world, but definitely still tasty. My mom and I also both ordered the Asia 9 Freedom drink with tequila, some type of fruit juice, and lemon. Super tasty, and not too sweet/sugary. The presentation of the drink was my favorite part. They added a carnation, a pineapple, cherry, lemon, and I think some type of bamboo leaf — instagram worthy.

Pleasantly surprised! My wife and I have always walked passed this place going to all the different restaurants in the area. We always saw it, looked at each other and said«Naahhh». Why? Its name for one. Its not Korean or Chinese or Thai or Japanese. Furthermore, look on the menu and you’ve got Korean Beef in the same section as Thai BBQ Chicken. As an Asian, you KNow not to go to Those places. Well… I have gone to Those«Asia» restaurants with that asinine thought of «oh lets try it, it might be okay» and come out in utter disappointment, proving my first instinct that I blatantly chose not to go by. The Only place in this category that I always return to without complaint… Asian Buffets… literally named Asian Buffet or Chinese Buffet and they all serve the same ol $%^*… West Coast, East Coast or in the middle of Montana(never been, but I’d bet on it). Because its cheap and its in that moment where I’m a grizzly looking for quantity and not quality. Maybe my wife and I had another mindless moment… or maybe not. We had exhausted our options in this area,(young couple, haven’t learned to cook in variety yet) and weren’t really in the mood to go elsewhere. We said, lets try it… ;P I think we’ve found a decent all around Asian restaurant(hell, I’m sure there are several out there, but seriously, not many). Okay… we had a mindless moment because not only did we eat here… we ate sushi here! Sushi should only be consumed at Japanese Sushi restaurants. Needless to say, I gave this place 4 stars. We were both impressed and enjoyed our meal! Yeah, I know I’ve thus far lightly and comically bashed this joint, but now let me talk this place UP! Oooaahhh! We had: APPETIZERS: Tom Yum Soup — had that Tom Yum flavor. It was a bit stronger and heavier than most that I’ve had, but I think a stronger flavor is better than a watered down flavor. My wife, on the other hand, thought it was too strong and salty. I’ve had Tom Yum from many different Thai restaurants so I think I understand what its supposed to taste like, but I’m not Thai so my interpretation could be wrong. Overall, it was good. I’d get it again. Pork Potstickers– I know this potsticker! As a kid, I used to ask my mom to buy this certain brand at the market all the time! Its definitely the frozen market bought potstickers, but they’re using the choicest one out there! I don’t remember the name of the brand, but I remember there was a panda on it. I haven’t seen it in the stores lately, but maybe they just changed the packaging design. Good stuff. I enjoyed it. Age-dashi Tofu– Meh. This was the least of my favorite here… But. I LOVE tofu! I can eat it straight out of the package(eww, I know, my wife tells me all the time) so I ate it all and enjoyed it. ENTREES: Mexican Roll– I guess we weren’t adventurous enough to order straight sashimi here, but this roll was very well prepared. The jalapeño had just the right kick and flavor. It wasn’t too overwhelming. Yet, it wasn’t completely just a bland texture either. Next, the cilantro in the sushi rice was a first for us, which was actually very good. We are both a huge fan of cilantro. Instead of just adding it into the roll or sprinkling it on top, it was mashed into the rice. The flavor of cilantro is consistently present without being overpowering. Besides that, white tuna is a good sushi fish whether fresh or not so fresh… obviously if its really old, it’ll be bad. All I’m saying is that white fish is hard to mess up. Note: We left the ginger out and just had it on the side. Ginger is a palate cleanser, not a flavor enhancer… but hey, culinary arts… its an art, do what you will and make it good… but I personally can’t get over the fact that ginger in a sushi environment is a palate cleanser for each bite of fish/roll. Veggie Delight– Chinese? Thai? Definitely not Japanese or Korean.(Sorry if I left out the rest of the Asian continent, I’m not trying to sit here and look up all the different countries and cultures) It was very good. Well prepared in a sweet ginger sauce, which I look forward to replicating at home one of these days. I love ginger! In this… ginger is a flavor enhancer. Maybe I’m just crazy. Anyways, its your typical asian stir fry veggies. It was good. One of my longer entries. Enjoy!

I’ll admit, I always walk past Asian Nine to get my &Pizza fixing and often I don’t see that many people inside. The restaurant name and décor suggest higher pricing(which is the case), and my PF Chang’s spidey alert went off. However I was 100% wrong. On a whim 8 of us stopped by Asian Nine when we knew Thai food in the Gaithersburg area was weak. Upon entering we were delighted by the décor and the Thai food options. None of us ordered sushi because frankly they are expensive for the # of pieces and the menu seem to have better Thai food options. Plus Yoyogi and Yuraku are fairly close for sushi, so skip that(unless it’s happy hours) and get Thai! Between the 8 of us(including a few kids), we got pineapple fried rice(w/shrimp), crabmeat fried rice, grilled whole squid, BBQ chicken and chicken pad thai. Every single dish(besides BBQ chicken) was wonderful and the(higher) price matches the(large) portion size. The BBQ chicken was expensive and not memorable, but everything else exceeded our expectation. They aren’t 100% authentic Thai with a gazillion curry and fish sauce dishes, but a hybrid of Americanized and authentic — to me, that’s pretty darn good in Gaithersburg. Certainly better than Thaitanium or Thai Express. Don’t make the same mistake as me and dismiss it every time, as Asian Nine offers some solid Thai food options. Yum I’ll be back!

Nice lunch selection at more reasonable prices for Thai selections. Sushi selection was a bit pricey for lunch. We tried the Pad Thai with chicken. The presentation was nice with a cool egg web on top for $ 9.

I always pick up dinner here when I’m in the area. The Kapow is one of my favorite dishes. It is minced white meat chicken with spices & peppers while served over rice. The place has a full bar, nice staff and there is tons of seating. They also have good sushi, nice happy hour specials & free parking!

Visited this restaurant for the first time this past weekend. After watching a movie at the AMC across the street in Rio, we decided to walk around and find a place to eat. This restaurant caught our eye and we decided to give it a try. It was 9:30PM on a Saturday and the place was quite empty. Some of the other restaurants in the area were flooded with people. So we got a table and sat down to eat. The ambiance is nice and cozy, and the service was good. I got the following: Asia Nine Lomein — this usually comes with chicken, but I ordered it with just vegetables. The lomein was delicious. It was perfectly flavored and I could smell and taste the fresh basil. Its been a while since I have had such delicious noodles. I would love to go back and try their other dishes. My husband loved his chicken Kapow as well.

Came here with my sister and had a great experience. Didn’t try the sushi since I’m a Yuraku fan. I did cheat on my usual Thai place and wasn’t disappointed. Pretty on point and authentic for Thai food. Pro: –Drinks were delicious. either I’m a lightweight or the drinks are really made well ;-) tastes like juice but definitely hit me later. We tried the one night in Bangkok and a mai tai. –Age-Dashi Tofu appetizer was on point. Nice flavor, fried to perfection, and no sog in the middle –Staff was friendly and attentive(came a few times to check on us) –Panang Curry was tasty and traditional –Outdoor seating available –Clean bathrooms –Bar and restaurant were clean and well decorated –Food and drinks were all beautifully presented Con: –I’m used to spicy when ordering the drunken noodles. This had no spice whatsoever. Boo! All in all, will visit again to get a quick Thai fix in the area!

I took my 2 teenage kids there. They were craving for Thai and I was for Sushi. Sashimi and Sushi combo for $ 29 was a nice large portion. My kids had Catonese fried rice but it tasted just like any Thai fried rice. We were ok w that because we like Thai more than Chinese food anyway. We also had Chicken Satay and curry chicken. We came there mid afternoon so the place was quite empty. It was hard to judge the quality of customer service when the place is empty. Everyone enjoyed the food and walked away satisfied. Our final bill was over $ 90 with tip for three of us and we did take some food home with us.

I knew I was taking a risk going to a restaurant which ‘specializes’ in multiple Asian cuisines. I was debating between Yuraku and here for lunch with my husband, thinking I could satisfy my needs for sushi and his for lo mein. Plus it’s in Crown, which is the newest, wonderful place to enjoy a sunny afternoon. You could stop reading now if you realize that I am clearly an idiot and nothing was going to satisfy my sushi cravings like Yuraku. I am. But, even their lo mein was really more of a thai noodle dish(I would consider giving $ 50 to anyone who could honestly taste it and consider it lo mein). And, although, we both absolutely love thai food, that isn’t what we wanted. None of it was. The sushi was also not good quality — the fish was soft, bordering on mealy, instead of firm. In the end, we paid just as much here for two dishes as we would have to indulge in as much sushi goodness as we could have wanted. I won’t be making that mistake again.

Asia Nine is an Asian Fusion(Chinese/Thai/Japanese) restaurant in Downtown Crown, located between La Madeleine and &Pizza. The restaurant has a lot of gold décor ranging from gold leave trees to gold handles on green draws below the sushi bar to gold cymbals on the walls behind the sushi bar and bar to gold Buddha statues. The table tops are made of granite while the chairs are made of wood with black cushion, which gives a contemporary feel to it. The service was great and our waitress was polite, attentive, and friendly. For drinks, I’d recommend the Thai Iced Tea, which is served over crushed ice. For entrees, we ordered a Tri-Colored Sashimi Lunch and Korean Sizzling Beef. I was surprised that only one of the entrees came with miso soup(miso paste based broth with seaweed and tofu) and a side salad(iceberg lettuce with a salty ginger dressing). The Tri Color Sashimi Lunch consisted of 9 pieces of thickly sliced, fresh and high quality, fish — salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. It was served with a bowl of Japanese sushi rice which was topped with sesame seeds. The Korean Sizzling Beef consisted of beef marinated in a homemade sauce and cooked with sesame seeds and ginger on a sizzling platter with steamed vegetable cooked in sake which made it bitter tasting.

I love the way this restaurant looks inside! It has such a modern appeal and their food dishes come out with such style. This restaurant does not disappoint. Ordered your typical chicken pad thai and thai iced tea. It looked so fancy coming out and tasted wonderful! The thai iced tea was also on point! The only thing is the portions seemed a bit smaller than I am used to when going to a Thai place, but it still did the job. :) I don’t really have much else to say besides that it was AMAZING!

Nice place in the Crown. However if you didn’t already know it was there… it’s not that noticeable. It’s near &pizza and La Madeleine. Ambiance is very nice. Contemporary yet still very inviting. Service was also good. Very quick. Had the thai iced tea. Not overly sweet which was nice. The brew the tea every day with tea from Thailand. Very nice. Also had the Tom Yum soup. Nice. It’s a small cup so just a tad bit pricy. But not bad– just enough sour to satiate a craving. Wasn’t too hungry so didn’t try anything else… yet. All in all, not bad.

Came here for an impromptu dinner with some fellow Unilocalers. Loved it! We each got a dish we wanted and shared them family style. Our table held 8 of us… and there was plenty to go around on each plate with leftovers to take home!(If you eat there, be prepared to take home a doggy bag.) The staff were so nice and accommodating to our semi-large group. I had the chicken teriyaki. It was yummy and flavorful, but it could have used a little more teriyaki flavor. Tasted more like just plain grilled chicken, honestly. It wasn’t nasty at all, just not what I expected. Other meals at the table were flaming beef, noodle soup, sushi rolls, drunken noodles(beware: very spicy), chicken and beef fried rice, pad thai, shrimp tempura and one more I can’t remember. But all were very good! My favorite part was the drink! Ah! Sooo good! It’s called the Far East Refreshment. DO try it!
