Update: this place just closed down. No surprise here. The formula of bad service, bad food + outrageous pricing = failure was proven to be true once again. —- I joined Unilocal just to leave this review. This place was awful. I don’t know why this location in the Kentlands is so doomed, but it just is. Each new owner in this great location thinks they can just move in and charge ridiculous prices for below average food and service. I went here with my daughter on a Saturday night. There was hardly anyone there except for a few people in the bar and a rambunctious man clapping hands with people every time his team scored. I waited over half hour for my appetizer and came to learn that the loud fan at the bar was actually the chef. I asked two different waiters for my beer and eventually asked the manager to get my beer when he just randomly came over to ask me how we were doing. So that’s three separate people to get one beer at a ‘sports bar’ and again there were probably 15 people in the entire restaurant. Staff are all just too young and inexperienced to understand or appreciate good service. Don’t bother wasting your time here, this place will definitely be closed within the next year, just like its predecessors. Btw, our order was for mac & cheese for my daughter and sliders for me. Food didn’t come for over 30 minutes and when it did arrive my burgers came first and I had to remind the waiter about my mac & cheese order and then it was another 10 – 15 minutes after that until the mac & cheese came. Literally every aspect of service was a failure. At least the TVs worked. Zero stars. This location is doomed and should be re-zoned. I’m looking forward to the day when an established restaurant moves in.

This place is going to go out of business if they don’t make some changes. Went tonight with a party of 10. No one was happy with the food. It’s too expensive and tastes bad. The ketchup was rancid. French fries were room temperature and tasted like they were cooked in old oil. chicken was dry. Charged wrong prices for several items. Save your money and go elsewhere.

All new staff, decent 7 day happy hours, but they stopped the half price appetizers starting 10PM plus I am worried if they will make it based on Saturday night the crowd was light but they had an awesome band, Poverty Ridge. Stick to appetizers and burgers. Happy hour on weekends is 1 – 4, I believe. I think Tony is finally listening to those who want him to make it there. What happened to the greeter you had there? Hopefully he wasnt let go with the former staff, he was friendly and hiring him was good karma.

Okay, I can’t do it anymore. I went there last Friday during lunch with co-worker to catch some of the March Madness games. Even though they advertised for March Madness, they were completely understaffed. And at first, when we arrived, only one TV was on a basketball game. The rest were on Family Guy! We waited for 45 minutes for the appetizers, even though we saw others who came after us get food. It then took another 30 minutes for our sandwiches. The waiter was less than happy, but he was also pretty overwhelmed since they were so understaffed. I’ve come here too many times to give this place a fair shake. No more, I’m done with it. I will go here for a drink, only as a last resort. You give them feedback, but it just doesn’t seem to make an impact. Good luck 44 Sports Bar & Grill.

If you love repeatedly hearing the words ‘I am sorry’ this is the place for you. To get my drink it took 4 attempts &5 I am sorrys: Tried ordering a mojito and got«I am sorry we are out of mint.» Tried ordering a bottle of wine and got«I am sorry we are out but someone is running to the liquor store to get one.» While waiting for the lukewarm bottle of white wine to chill(had to ask because it was served warm & got another I am sorry) we were told we could get a free drink. Tried ordering a Blue Moon and was told«I am sorry, we are out.» Ordered another beer(finally hit the jackpot, they had it) only to wait forever and only get it after a table member went searching for our waitress. So, I got«I am sorry, the bartender told me he had brought it over.» To get my meal(which I never got), it took 3 attempts and 5 I am sorrys: Ordered a Portabella Mushroom Burger with no cheese and got an I am sorry after I got a beef one instead. Minutes later the waitress returned with another I am sorry because they were out of portabella mushrooms. So I ordered a Turkey Burger with no cheese. Minutes later I got one with cheese, and got another I am sorry after I pointed out all my orders were without cheese because I am lactose intolerant. By then everyone around me had finished their meals. I was offered a free one and went for chicken wings as I was told they were quicker to prepare. And, there’s more: It has been nearly 24 hours since eating their very blah food and my stomach is still upset – I’ve been downing green tea and ginger ale all day. The bathrooms are yucky and on the 2nd floor. To get to them you have to climb 2 flights of stairs(in a cold cold stairwell if it is winter), and walk in front of a stage with a band(or do a semi-circle across the entire room and dodge people) – they are not wheelchair accessible or suitable for those with mobility issues. Our Greasy(yes, with a capital G) ketchup bottle was empty and the mustard bottle still had the inner seal on it. Our waitress was super slow and hard to find, but the poor dear had the words«I am sorry» and«I am so sorry» down – she probably says them in her sleep. Now I am sorry because I went. Prices are average but if getting what you ordered, good food, timely and good service, and easily using the restroom matters to you don’t bother. And I am sorry, I won’t be going back!

Great grilled wings. Lots of TVs. Very accommodating to put on whatever sporting event you want to watch. Staff is friendly and helpful. Oh and in case you’re wondering why the place is called«44» and has a bunch of «44» jerseys on the wall, Tony’s(the owner) number in the NBA was 44.

This place is a bore and food tasted so stale, dry and unflavored. Drinks are equally bad. No! not going there again.

Blegh. Subpar. I wish this place was good, since I love sports bar food, and the location is very close to where I live. Food: 1) Quesadillas(~$ 8.50): cold and dry. Relatively flavorless. 2) Chicken tenders: even worse. Tasted like something I could’ve taken out of a frozen box and popped in the microwave for 30 seconds. My friend: «I think these are good… but it could be that I’m starving.» Me: «You’re definitely starving.» Prices were high for the quality of food. I should also mention that their tap water has a funky taste to it. It tasted sweet, almost as if the sugars from the other sodas had contaminated it. It was nasty. I did not drink it and left very thirsty, as I did not want to pay for the $ 2.44 fountain drink. I’ve heard the nachos are not good, and the pulled pork sandwich is OK. I don’t think I’ll be back to try.

Meh does not begin to do justice to the inadequacy of this place. The greens that we ordered weren’t available(why didn’t the waiter know that when we ordered?) so we accepted the green beans as substitute. The green beans were in a pool of I-Can’t-Believe-This-Is-Butter, and over-battered fish came out with mediocre corn-bread, but no French fries/chips! When I asked about the chips, the waiter told me that the corn bread was part of the greens that weren’t available. I told him that fish and chips really needed chips to be called«fish and chips,» so he quickly brought us some fries that were just warm and whose taste and texture suggested that they wouldn’t have been much better if they had been hot. Even though we live within nice-weather walking distance, we won’t be back unless I hear from a reliable source that they have great burgers, in which case I will cross my fingers and hope for improved fries. Did I mention that they claim to have Wi-Fi, but I couldn’t find it on my phone? Did I mention that it was loud? I will!

Let me start off by saying I’m sitting at the bar right now. I was talking to my girlfriend who said this place got really bad reviews so I thought I’d check it out. This place is not as bad as its been reviewed. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been very helpful and prompt to my needs/requests. It’s better than average but not the best sports bar. I think they just need to get the right crowd in.

My boyfriend and friend stopped by here a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. We’d been to Last Mango and Tony and James, which all were crappy, but this surpassed them all on the level of crap. When we went to the hostess, she paused and looked around as if she couldn’t find an open table for us. We were the only ones there. Once we were seated, we sat for 10 minutes until my boyfriend got up and asked for our server. They told us he would be over in a moment. 7 more minutes passed. Knowing us saying something to the imbeciles who work there would have not made a difference, we gathered our things and walked out. We walked right past the 3 people standing at the hostess stand and not one of them said a word as we walked out. On the way to the car, we at least found our server. I’m sure he or she was one of the ones standing in the back alley smoking cigarettes by the kitchen dumpster…
