Two of us went on a Monday night. I really like the décor and ambiance of the place, and there weren’t many people there. The food was good, but it took forever to get to us. The appetizer sampler was nice, and we shared a kabob order of Chicken Tikka, which took even longer to get to us. We’d finished everything on the appetizer mixed plate and were waiting at least another 25 minutes for our entrée with no explanation. When we brought it up as the check arrived, we were told that the kitchen made the wrong dish by mistake and had to make a 2nd entrée. Some consideration for this on the check would have been nice. The food was very good once it got to us(could have been spicier, but we are white so I understand if we purposely got a milder version), and the staff was gracious but could have been more attentive. There were only five others in the place so the long wait for our food and needing to remind them to bring our drinks was a definite turn off. I would come again just to try some less expensive fair or check out their buffet, and I would still recommend trying it. The couple leaving as we came in seemed very pleased. Maybe we were just unlucky.

My husband and I decided to try Taste of India because of the great reviews. Well it didn’t live up to the hype. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala(which is what most reviewers recommended) as a carryout order along with garlic naan and vegetable pakoras. When my husband got home, the entrée didn’t look like any of the photos for Chicken Tikka Masala. It was just of chunks of chicken with grilled onions and lemons. I have no idea what we got.

Love this place! Went here for the first time after Rangoli(our favorite Indian restaurant closed) and this is even better. Had the tandoori tidbits appetizer and then we shared chicken tikka masala and rogan josh, and garlic naan. Service was great. Good wine list. Cannot wait to go back. Have since been back four more times and still love this restaurant. They will make the dishes as hot or as mild as you’d like. We like medium spicey but have gone with friends who wanted«extreme heat» and«mild» and everyone has been happy. The service has always been great.

I go here regularly for their lunch buffet– it includes lots of delicious authentic Indian dishes, including butter chicken(my favorite). They have fresh naan available as well on the buffet. The serving staff are very attentive and polite, and are quick to get you anything extra you need.

We have had take-out from Taste of India and really liked it. Yesterday, we decided to eat in, It was even better, The meat samosas and the naan bread stuffed with potatoes and onion were the best we ever had. My wife and I had lamb dishes and they were both excellent. We have had lamb before. It doesn’t matter which you choose — they are all excellent. Pick what strikes your fancy. One measure we use the the excellence of a measure is how many customers they have when we gay. It was a Monday night and they were pleasantly busy. We will be going there again.

I am a sucker for Indian food. It’s my absolute favorite. I’ve had chicken tikka masala at just about every Indian restaurant in the area. This place is my new favorite. They also have several different kinds of naan that are also wonderful. I find some other Indian places can be hit or miss, even when you order the same dish, but this place has been equally delicious the 5 or 6 times that I’ve had it. Love.

Went with a large group & they did not fail. The menu is large and features different meats, seafood, vegetarian & vegan sections and they let you customize your heat level for your dish. They also have a full bar. Samosas were very yummy-not greasy & the saucy was sweet’n’spicy. Our entrees were brought out in a timely matter with plenty of rice. The paratha was very good. Don’t miss this place if you’re craving some Indian!!!

How amazing is this place! Our first time and we are blown away! My husband and I each started off with a glass of Pinot Noir(yumm) priced at only $ 6.50 and the meat samosas — very tasty!!! For our entrée we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Madras, both medium — jus enough spice! Delicious and we cannot wait to come back with our kids! Everyone there was so friendly and very informative regarding the menu! Highly recommend!

Before you read any further, you must understand that I’m a total rook when it comes to Indian food. I really don’t know what many of the dishes are, and I can’t pronounce quite a few of them. With that said… I have been three times or so now, each time to eat at the lunch buffet. Value– This is an incredible value for $ 8.95 per person. They have a ton of choices, and they are all fresh. Food– Again, everything is fresh. MAKESURE you try the butter chicken. The sauce tastes a little like a vodka sauce, however it is uniquely different. The fresh naan is soooo good. Also, don’t forget to grab you a little of the tamarind sauce. Service– very good, very helpful. This is a good place to bring people that like Indian food, and that do not care for Indian food. There are plenty of «safe» choices for folks that don’t like your typical Indian fare.

Great buffet, very reasonable with lots of choices. Really enjoyed the chicken dishes. Would like a bit more spice and heat, but I realize as a buffet this needs to please everyone.

–I liked the chicken tikka masala which was so good that when there was no more chicken I just put the gravy over some rice and ate it that way. It was so good and creamy. –My wife liked the Chicken 65 which I found was not on the menu. It was very tasty and very spicy. The wife likes it so much that she wants me to order some later on in the coming week for her to take home. –My oldest daughter who is 2.8 loved the Naan and the Tandoori Chicken. –My youngest daughter who is 1.7 loved watching the people sitting across from us.

WOW! A fantastic lunch! Taste: Delicious! All good! I really like their mushroom curry, butter chicken, chicken and lamb meat ball, broccoli karma, etc… They should serve nann on each table though. When they get cold, not tasty. Price: Great! Buffet lunch nder $ 10 with many kinds of dishes. Customer service: Very nice. Interior: Check out the WOW wall! They should not decorate artificial flowers because they look so cheap. Parking: Free. i’d like to go back there again soon;))

Yesterday was our 26th wedding anniversary, & as usual we wanted to go out for a nice dinner. Since we hadn’t enjoyed a nice Indian restaurant in quite some time, decided to give Taste of India a try. Arrived around 7:45 p.m. or so to only 3 – 4 tables taken(but of course, let’s face it, this was a Tuesday night after all). Were seated at a table for two, which, frankly was a bit on the small side — even for a two-cover. In addition, even though there seems to be some sort of light fixture/candle mounted next to the table, none of these were lit, & the site was quite dark. We did have a bit of difficulty reading the menu, & next time(which there will be), may even bring in a mini-flashlight. The menu is a large multi-page affair that may take you some time to peruse. Not a bad thing — & certainly not for us, since we knew ahead of time what we were interested in — but Indian-food newcomers might find themselves a bit overwhelmed. However, the listings are fairly well-described, which is a big plus. Another interesting aspect of this menu was the extensive wine list — for an Indian restaurant. First time I’ve seen that — even though I used to dine regularly at upscale Indian restaurants in Manhattan. Anyway, as soon as we were seated, we were served with some crisp pappadums with 3 small cups of a spicy dipping sauce, a sweeter milder one, & a tomato/onion relish. Delicious except for the fact that it was difficult to dip the broken-off pieces of pappadum into the tiny little metal dishes. But a minor point. We then ordered Bombay Sapphire Gin & Tonics, which came in really small chubby rocks glasses. Decent/minor strength but for $ 8 each? Probably won’t be doing that again. To go with our cocktails, we ordered the«Vegetable/Vegetarian Hot Appetizer Platter»($ 9.95), which consisted of 2 tiny crackers of fried paneer, one cone of Vegetable Samosa, a few pieces of some type of spinach fritter, & a few pieces of some other fritter that was unrecognizable in either shape or flavor. All of these were WAY over-fried/crisped. Apart from the one cone Samosa & the flat fried cheese, the others were rather unrecognizable. I’m guessing spinach on one only because it had green bits in it; the other is up in the air because it really didn’t taste like anything at all. Although I’d rather have over-crispy than limp & greasy, this isn’t something we’d order again. For our main meal my husband ordered«Shrimp Tandoori»($ 16.95), while I opted for my favorite«Lamb Vindaloo»($ 13.95) — specifying«hot/spicy». Entrees come with lovely light & fluffy Basmati rice, but we also ordered«Saag Paneer»($ 11.95) & the«Combination Bread Basket»($ 8.95) to share. To accompany our entrees — Stella Artois beer for husband & Beck’s Dark for me($ 3.95 each). Husband liked his shrimp, & my Lamb Vindaloo was perfectly spiced. Not blow-the-top-of-your-head-off, but enough to break a sweat. Lamb wasn’t exactly as tender as I’ve had before, but not bad. The sauce/spicing was spot-on, allowing all the different flavors to come through — even with the heat. And thankfully — not overpowering with either the vinegar or the cinnamon, which I really don’t care for much & which a lot of Indian restaurants can be heavy-handed with. Basmati rice was absolutely perfect; Saag Paneer was just a «little» bit salty, & I also found it odd that our waiter asked me when ordering at what spice level I wanted it. In my experience, Saag Paneer(creamed spinach with Indian paneer cheese) has never been an authentically«spicy» dish, & I would never order it that way. Don’t know what that was about, as I can’t imagine anyone wanting it that way. I always enjoy it as a mild & flavorful foil to spicier entrees. But perhaps vegetarians who order it as an entrée like having the option of spicing it up. Personal preference. The«Combination Bread Basket» was lovely, & the bread was EXCELLENT. A number of wedges of plain Naan, Garlic Naan, & Roti. Quite possibly the best examples I’ve ever had. For dessert, husband had the Indian-style«Pistachio Ice Crème»($ 4.95), while I opted for my hands-down favorite Indian Dessert — «Ras Malai»($ 4.95). Both were delicious. Service was above & beyond friendly & accommodating. Bill after tax but before tip came to $ 101.28. Will we be returning? Definitely YES. We’re particularly interested in stopping back some time soon to enjoy their all-you-can-eat $ 8.95 lunch buffet. If the buffet offerings are anywhere near the quality of the al a carte dinner offerings, that should be a real bargain.

I’ve been visiting Taste of India semi-regularly since they opened. Seems like time for an update. My main issue with the food previously was that they did not crank up the heat/spice level as requested. That issue has since been resolved! Every time I go in to eat, or get food to go — they know what to do! Bartender Binod usually waits on us or takes my to go order. And the food has been deliciously spicy! We’ve had then go full max on the heat level a few times — enough so that my David and I were perspiring while we were eating — and loving the heat! They’ve got some local Virginia craft beers available in bottle too. We’ve been enjoying Northern Lights IPA(Starr Hill Brewing Co., Crozet, VA) and Hoptimization IPA(Brothers Craft Brewing, Harrisonburg, VA) every time we come in!

The food was absolutely delicious, which should mean a lot since I am a huge fan of Indian food = I’ve ate a ton in the past. When a friend and I were getting together to catch up, she suggested we do Taste of India for lunch. I wasn’t going to argue, considering I love Indian food and a buffet means I get to stuff my face to heart my heart’s desire. I enjoyed EVERYSINGLEDISH. As much as I love Indian food and specifically Indian buffets, there’s been very few times I’ve actually liked every single offering. However, I was pleasantly surprised and stuffed by the time we left. My favorite dish was the tandoori chicken which was succulent and flavorful, even though at some Indian buffets it’ll run a little dry. The only thing was… at the end they gave us the wrong check. Instead of 2 buffet lunches with no drinks(only ordered water) they gave us a check for 1 lunch and a soda. However, they were really nice about fixing it and even laughed at their own error.

Yum yum! I like to frequent this Indian restaurant and get my garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and a my masala tea. The chicken is super tender and practically melts in your mouth. They will ask you what spice order you prefer. I have medium. The portions are large and the basmati rice is excellent as well. Let’s discuss the naan. I want to try another one but the garlic is my go to. I love the flavor because it is not over powering garlic. Please stop in and eat here! Great service! Waiter remembered me from last time.

Lunch buffet here is good but I have had better at many other spots in NOVA. The interior of the restaurant was nicer than most of them though. The have a big photo of the Taj Mahal behind the buffet and really cool lights. The dining area was cramped with little space for people to pass and service was slow for water and naan and replenishing the buffet items. This is your best bet for Indian food unless you want to drive at least 20 minutes farther.

Yum!!! I was so thrilled to see this place open up. I will admit I was scared I had over hyped it in my mind, but luckily it was just as wonderful as I had hoped! My husband and I came for dinner at 6 pm on a Saturday. While it was a bit busy we were seated right away. The place feels a bit cramped, but once you are eating you won’t notice or care. We loved everything we tried, mango lassi, chicken madras, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and paneer naan. We had never had paneer naan, and I liked it quite a lot, it’s naan stuffed with cheese, but it’s quite sweet. The garlic naan was very yummy but a bit more greasy then I would normally like, maybe cause they were so busy. We got the chicken madras medium heat and the masala mild heat. We probably should have done hot for both. Medium seemed to have no kick so I would say the heat level is toned down. The masala was a bit heavy on the tomato flavor but the madras was perfect. Their prices are fair for huge portions. Next time my husband and I will probably just share rather than ordering two things. While they were busy their service was very friendly and attentive. We alway had filled water glasses. This is our new local favorite and so happy to have yummy Indian close to home! We can’t wait to try their lunch buffet! —– Update: Came back for lunch buffet today and was very pleased! Everything was very yummy and it was fun to try lots of different things. They had lots of options as well as a small salad area and a couple of dessert puddings. They also brought naan out to our table — included in the buffet price. All the servers are very friendly and helpful. Good price for a buffet. Can’t wait to come back!
