Stopped here on our way to AZ day after snow storm. The area had lost power and all freezer items had thawed on their grocery side. Walk up to order, prices seemed ok for 1⁄3 pounders and fries and drinks. However, the french fries were definitely cooked in old grease. Burgers were ok but mine had a special sauce that looked like it was put on but then scraped off the bun. Not a great end after a long car ride. Will not go back or recommend.

I love the meatloaf sandwich at this place, so good. My husband ordered it not knowing that it came with onions on it. He doesn’t like onions so he traded with me. I would have never ordered a meatloaf sandwich myself, so I was really surprised how much I enjoyed it. Sooo good. You can order it without onions, I don’t think it would change my opinion either way, it was really good. Very hearty and flavorful. Yum.

We really enjoyed our sandwiches. We had the Chicken salad sand and the meatloaf. While I enjoyed the Chicken sand I liked the meatloaf sand better. Glad we stopped:)

One of my favorite lunch spots! This is such a great place to dine alone or with friends. I love that Mr. & Mrs. Patel always have smiling faces and kind words. They even remember to ask about my family! My favorite is the tuna salad. It is so different and delicious. I love it on the sandwich or as a salad trio. I always get it with pasta salad or fruit for a nice filling yet light and cool lunch. We love love sitting out on the sidewalk and watching the people pass by. Never a bad word about Sweet Magnolia, they are the best!

My wife and I visited while in town to see her parents. I had the gourmet BLT and shrimp with potato soup. Both were very good with great flavor. My wife had the half sandwich of famous chicken salad and some tomato basil soup. I tried both and they were delicious as well. Great place for a light lunch.

Stopped in for a sandwich and a glass of iced tea. Tea was good and sandwich was adequate … but nothing special. Prices were a little high for the smaller portion and mid-range quality.

On the 5th of July, my parents decided to surprise me by coming up to my work at lunch time and taking me out for lunch. I was super excited to take them somewhere on the square like Avocado or Atlas Pizza but alas they were closed for the 4th of July holiday! I saw Sweet Magnolia café and it was packed so I suggested we go there instead. The restaurant is like a big open room with little shops in the back to explore. I ordered the Turkey Club no mayo and a side of the carrot raisin salad and it was amazing. Probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve eaten at a café/deli place since my love affair with Brown Bag bagel in Suwanee :) When you order at the counter you can see the smallish kitchen and if it didn’t have a 100 food rating I might have skipped it just based on it’s cafeteria like feel but I am so glad I didn’t. The service was top notch even though it wasn’t a traditional sit down and take your order type place they were attentive they brought me a to go box before I even asked. It was wonderful! Seriously, if you’re in the mood for a delicious sandwich give it a go.

A solid lunch spot on the downtown Gainesville square. It’s an order at the counter kind of place, so that, combined with the ample seating area, would make it a great spot to bring a group. I had heard their chicken salad was legendary, so I knew I couldn’t pass it down. Unfortunately, I made the rookie mistake of getting it on top of salad greens, which turned out to be three sad pieces of spring mix. Next time, calories be darned, because I’m getting it on bread. If you like chicken salad sweet and with lots of «stuff»(nuts, grapes, etc) in it, you’ll love their version. Their list of sides is extensive too, though most fall into the cold, prepared salad variety(carrot raisin salad, broccoli salad, cabbage salad, regular coleslaw, etc). However, I almost liked my sunflower seed topped broccoli salad better than the chicken salad. During the weekday hustle, they offer free samples of their decadent looking brownies, cupcakes and cookies, but on my weekend visit I was left adminirng their mounds of icing in the display case. Next time, Sweet Magnolia, next time.

Sweet Magnolia Café is located in the Main Street Market on the square in downtown Gainesville and is a very good lunch spot. They serve fresh salads and sandwiches. I personally like the Mexican tuna salad. Great atmosphere and very fast service. The soups are also very good. Be prepared for waits during weekday lunches. Very popular with the locals.

I went with coworkers the other day and you can definitely get in and out in under an hour if you are on a schedule. There isn’t a lot of personality as far as the décor — the restaurant is on the Square in Gainesville and opens out to a small shopping mall — but the environment was fine for a quick lunch. You can order simple, Southern, tasty things like chunky chicken salad sandwiches at the counter, take them to a table and chow down, in and out, no muss and no fuss. I think the place is a bit overpriced for the amount of food you receive, but it was all fresh and tasted good and they had some cool desserts — big cupcakes and cookies. If you are looking for a cool ambiance and more personal touch for lunch, Two Dog up the street would be a better choice. But for a fast meal that isn’t fast food, Sweet Magnolia will do the trick.

This was my first visit to Sweet Magnolia. I went at around 2pm and found parking right away on the Gainesville Square. I wouldn’t have minded if I had to walk from far since it was such a nice day out. I ordered at the counter and there was no wait in line. I got the half/half combo. I ate the veggie sandwich which was packed with sprouts, avocado, tomato, cucumber and lettuce on rye bread. It was quite tasty and just the right size. I also got the ‘soup of the day’ which was also veggie. It was a small cup full of celery, carrots, corn, peas, tomatoes and was served nice and hot. For about $ 6.50 it was a pretty good portion. I felt just full enough not over stuffed. I sat on the outside patio since it was such a pretty day. They served my food to me right away. I was overall pleased. The menu at the counter is a chalk board and only had ‘Sandwiches’ and ‘Sides’, but I believe they also offer salads.

If you are looking for a delicious and fresh place for lunch, you’ve found it! This is an order at the counter, they bring you your food kind of place. The seating is in an open area with high ceilings. I happened upon this place while traveling through town and discovered it is very popular for lunch meetings as well as individuals dining alone — reading the paper, using free wifi, etc. If you arrive after 12, be prepared to wait in line. I had a half veggie sandwich with field green salad and a drink and it was only $ 8! They also sell cookies and cupcakes.
