Luna’s Restaurant

Excellent food. Wait staff is very attentive. I realy like the «extra bench» for pocketbooks or briefcases when sitting down. Nice touch to keep them off the floor. Great place for dinners, business lunch or celebrations. I’ve been there several times and it has always met my expectations.

One of the best fine dining restaurants in Gainesville. It’s Luna’s or Scotts. The others are priced the same, but you are wasting your money. Food is consistently good. The service is the best in town. The setting in quiet and intimate. The owner is almost always on premises. They also have a piano bar that is a comfortable place to get a drink or a snack.

Great food, but expect to spend a good amount. Steak was cooked perfect, potatoes were good, but a very small portion. Wine at $ 10 per glass.

I have eaten at Luna’s several times for work functions and decided to take my wife there last night. We started with the calamari and that was probably the best calamari I have ever eaten. Very clean tasting, lightly breaded, with an excellent accompanying sauce. The only recommendation I would have to make this better would be to add some spice, but that is my personal preference. I know some people don’t like the added spice. My wife ordered the ribeye steak that was well cooked, with onion rings and mashed potatoes. She enjoyed most of it and I had the remainder for breakfast. I ordered the jumbo fried shrimp that had the same breading system as the calamari. It was great and it left me with no regrets. My wife ordered the chocolate divine for dessert that was very rich, balanced out very nicely with the ice cream. Service was excellent and attentive. We were seated promptly. It made for a very nice night out. I think this may be my favorite restaurant now. I would have posted pictures of the food, but I always forget.

Didn’t get a chance to try the food because the hostess was rude. Nice place but they need to treat everybody equally!

I’ve always loved Luna’s restaurant. It was one of my favorite places while working in Gainesville. I was even more ecstatic that they were able to cater my wedding. The food was AMAZING and everyone raved about it. The staff and Andrea are fantastic and couldn’t have asked for more. Andrea will help you plan everything to the last detail. She is so fun and easy to work with.
You and your guests will not be disappointed.

Lunas was awesome back when they served emu… now… in 2015… it is just another hum-​drum bland restaurant in Gainesville… there is nothing unique in Gainesville anymore. If u just want soft shelled crab… the nearest restaurant is in Alpharetta (Poor Richard’s soft shell crab is soogy, so they don’t count). That’s just sad. Do I need to say more… Wait, but I do… I may have to recamp my review, because as of May 2015, I just spoke with the owner, Juan Luna, and he is going to special order emu meat and soft shell crab, if he calls me and follows thru with his promise, I’ll be changing my rating. Plus, I had to up the star rating because Benny the piano player is so amazing. He usually plays at 7pm on Saturdays about twice a month. He is well worth the wait.

Delicious food! I had shrimp served like little arches over mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach in the center with little cubes of tomatoes. wonderful spices! The service was excellent. My husband had shrimp and scallops, which he loved. Luna’s is in the middle of a big building… Well worth the sleuthing to find it. We will be back!

One of my favorite places to eat in Gainesville. You’ll find an extensive menu, excellent service, nice atmosphere, and quality food. In a town with many «steak places», do yourself a favor and order a fillet here. You’ll thank me later. Dessert is excellent as well.
This isn’t a place to eat with a budget in mind, but for a quality evening, it’s worth it!

If you are interested in perfectly prepared, absolutely delicious, food and exquisite service, Luna’s is the place to dine. Whether you are there for lunch or dinner, the staff will make it a special occasion. We take all of our house guests and business associates to Luna’s!

I’ve been here when the food was great and again when it was not so great. Don’t bother making a complaint to the owner. He is not nice about any complaints that you may have regarding the quality of the food. Customer service is not a priority here.

A couple of co-​workers and I were in town on business and this place was recommended by someone at the hotel we were staying at. We were all very happy with our experience. The server was friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. I had the shrimp and scallops skewer with grilled vegetables. Everything was seasoned well and the seafood was cooked perfectly.

Had an afternoon meeting in Gainesville and had a bit of time for lunch and so decided to check out Unilocal to find something different from the normal quick Panera, etc. Luna had a nice rating and so we decided to try it out. The wait staff were super nice. I don’t remember our waiter’s name, but it was a man. I had to work a bit on my laptop and that didn’t phase them, etc. and they were super friendly and attentive. Now, I was hungry, so that may have affected my taste buds, but I was all like — OMG, this is the best think I’ve EVER eaten! LOL. It was the fish special with coconut rice and mango sauce. It was really, really good though. My co-​worker was very happy with his food as well. We were happy we took a minute to find a more unique experience than we usually do.

While vising a friend this past week, she took another friend and me to Luna’s. She and her husband frequent this restaurant often. This is a beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. Everyone was very nice. Our waitress (I believe she said her name was Deeann) was friendly, and our service and food were excellent. We started with the calamari appetizer. It was delicious. I had the pork chop, which was big and cooked perfectly, with mashed sweet potatoes and glazed apple slices. It was so good! We shared the wonderful Chocolate Devine for dessert. We met the owner who was very nice also. When I go back to Gainesville, GA, I will definitely eat at Luna’s!

Fabulous! From the food to the service to the atmosphere. I had a beet salad and shared the fried goat cheese appetizer. Followed that up with a petit tenderloin with lobster and Gouda Mac and cheese. Amazing! No room for dessert. Service was fantastic. I will definitely be back if I happen to return to the area.

Great food, great service, great staff. Will definitely be back. Need I say more, certainly exceeded our expectations.
I had the Pene, excellent scallops & shrimp. My wife had the salmon, cooked perfectly.
Our friends had the lamb and the angel hair pasta both were reported to be very, very good too. Nice wine list. Had a bottle of Franciscan Cab, good choice at $ 32.00.

My wife and I went here for valentines day dinner because we had received a gift certificate. The food was good yet very expensive. When we presented the gift certificate to the waiter he said they no longer accept them. We had gotten these for christmas (which is 2 months ago) and were not understanding why they were not good. The owner came out and explained that Luna’s had terminated its relationship with
. He then went on to say that there were postings on facebook and the Lunas website about
and how they no longer accepted the gift certificates. With my cell phone I looked at the website and NOWHERE on the site did it say anything of the sort. The facebook page had a single posting in november about the termination of the relationship. The owner then said it was once on the website but it was not his fault. He offered us a glass of wine as an apology. What is even more sad about this is that there were several other customers who were having the same problem. Mr Luna has not tried to help his customers out by posting a sign at the front of the restaurant or on the menu about this problem and seems to think that a facebook posting in november covers him from any blame in this matter. He is only benefitting from this «problem». People who have the certificates go in and then are required to pay the full amount with only a glass of wine as an «apology». A glass of wine on a $ 100 tab is pathetic.
This is sad because my family has been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. We will not be back. Be careful when dealing with this place.

Was here for a group function of about 18 people and we got a large private room. They had great service all night and the private room made it nice to talk. The food was Top notch, I had a tenderloin which was really good considering we were out of cattle country. I was surprised that Gainesville GA had someplace this nice. I would recommend to anyone.

Very good experience here! Our waiter was extremely nice, very good with service. My mom had the tasting menu, she loved all of it. My sis and I had lobster risotto, it was good but i’ve had better. Lots of lobster, lots of butter, but the risotto itself was not done well. The restaurant is beautiful, though I feel it could be a bit more updated.
