This is where the county’s veterans’ memorial is, which is a stirring and appropriate tribute to all who served in uniform, and also the site of bball courts, a children’s playground, and there were very good soccer fields as well but currently they are closed for re-sodding. That is why only three stars: the re-sodding process has lasted over a year and who knows when the soccer fields will be back in use. For the tax revenue the county has, I see no reason to poke along on this. That said, the soccer goals are currently tucked away in a little-used portion of the park and open for small-side games or shooting on goal practice, which is what has brought me down here. It’s overall a very nice park, but there are areas such as the unfinished soccer fields that need attention. Also, there is a sign warning of venomous snakes on a nature path. .. which is fine, but the picture of the cottonmouth on the sign is actually, according to a friend who is a wildlife biologist, not a cottonmouth at all but a harmless banded water snake. If he is correct, that needs to be fixed. He asked two other herpetologists and they agreed with him. Despite what seem to be problems with the park, it still is a pretty neat and very useful, fun, park. And it’s important we have a tribute of this nature to our area’s veterans.

This is a nice park for a full body workout. Running/walking path is rather narrow(2 adults side by side). Good luck trying to run when it’s crowded. There’s a soccer field, softball field, sand volleyball, basketball court and a hockey rink here. There’s also a dedicated pullup area with pullup stands at various heights. Great for pull ups and muscle ups. You can also find benches here for box jumps A great park for a nice cardio-intensive WOD.
