My daughter’s roommate was drugged there & was taken by ambulance to Shands. Did some research & found stories in Alligator & elsewhere that other women have been drugged at Grog House also. Why the GPD, ACSO&FL Alcohol licensing board allows them to stay in business is beyond me. Suggest U of FL notify the students with a text weekly and/or place it off limits to students.

When I was in college at UF, I’d only find myself here late-night and with the intention of dancing. The air circulation is non-existent, so get ready to get sweaty and sticky. This place is fun for top 40’s dancing and tends to get overcrowded. There are a few high-tops, though there aren’t chairs so there’s a lot of sloshing of drinks. The crowd is young, and you should definitely expect groups of guys dressed alike and cheering. People love this place for cheap drink specials. I was here doing a liquor promotion, and it seemed to be well-received by the crowd, who was for the most part, already pretty rowdy.

It is cheap and fun as with most places in Gainesville. It’s right across from UF’s campus which is prime location. Friday is «beat the clock»; pitchers start at .25 cents and increase by .25 cents every 30 minutes. Oh, hello binge drinking! It does get a little crowded in there but everyone is honestly just trying to have a good time. Hang by the bar long enough and you will get some free shots too. Ryan Lochte bought us shots and the next time I saw him he was winning medals!

Beat the Clock: Good for dancing. It was crowded but people generally don’t dance unless it is crowded lol. Doormen can be kind of strict. Bartenders are skilled and courteous. I found the female patrons very pleasant. The male patrons were a little forward and rowdy. Grog is good for what it is.

Good drink specials and a good environment. We tried to get here early to get a table for the beat the clock on Friday, but they filled up very early and we missed out. Pretty good crowd that ended up dancing, but a small place, so it felt crowded the whole time.

I only ever go to Grog on Wednesdays and Fridays– Ladies’ Night and Beat the Clock. And my friends and I always get here before 9 so we can get a table. I’m usually out of here by midnight at the latest– it gets way too crowded. I don’t like dancing, just drinking. We sit and play drinking games all night. Beat the Clock starts at 9, and from 9 til 9:15, pitchers are a quarter. Every 15 minutes it goes up another quarter until it reaches regular price– which is $ 3, I believe. They only let you get 1 pitcher for every 2 people, and won’t let you re-order until one is finished… long gone are the days where everyone was double-fisting pitchers. Last Friday, though, I think we managed to squeeze in 4 pitchers in the first 15 minutes. Ladies’ Night is good here. They don’t skimp on the liquor as much as some other places do. And I’m not sure if they still do this, but they used to have free beer from 9 – 10 on Wednesdays as well. There’s a $ 5 cover for 21+, no matter what time you get there, but if you find Tyler on FB, and get on his list, you can get reduced cover. It’s an 18+ bar, but I don’t know why you would want to come here if you couldn’t drink lol… It’s no fun, I’ve tried it. This place is dirty, and crowded, and it’s so bad it’s great. Definitely a Gainesville staple.

Do you measure a bar’s enjoyability by the following: — ability to take home every girl in the place — contracting something nasty from even thinking about taking anyone home from there — number of meatheads? If so, Grog House is for you! Just to be clear, I’m not against midtown at all… I actually like Gator City and Salty Dog; people watching here was awesome, but only because it’s fun to watch a train wreck. The bud light pitchers were $ 6…oh, but wait… my friends and I were each charged $ 5 to get in at 12:45AM. The bar closes at 2. Are you serious? The music was pretty decent, and the sound system was nice. But I do own an ipod so I won’t be going back…
