Gainesville Family Dentistry

I had been a patient of Dr Goswami’s for 3 years. There are 2 sister in practice together, both are Terrible! The office is small (which is no prob), no frills, no dental hygienist (they do the cleanings themselves), and outdated technology. I will make this as short as I can, as I gave them 3 years.
My main complaints: I went in after 2 years of only cleanings & no dental issues for a night guard. It took 5 visits! The 1^st guard was thrown out as they could never get it to fit. The second one fit better, but I complained it was tight and felt like it pulled my teeth back. DR G. kept saying it was suppose to fit that way. A year later my teeth are crooked and NO LONGER meet in the front! Despite my continued complaints! During the guard fitting process the Dentist brought out molds that were NOT in the blue sterile packaging. While fitting me for size, she dropped old pieces of plaster into the back of my throat AND didn’t notice (I had to sit up and cough them out)! I asked what was falling into my mouth, (as we were not to the plaster part yet), and she mumbled it was part of the mold itself??? (rrrrrright)!
After having no cavities in the past I came in for a cleaning and was told I had a cavity. Cleanings were one thing, but after the guard issues I consulted 2 other dentists. I was told there was NO CAVITY there!!! (REALLY)!!!
Small concerns: The front office staff is nice enough, but in no way polished. For 3 years they SAID they were getting a dental hygienist and never did (I didn’t care, but don’t LIE and SAY I should see one on my next visit!!) The office could use a VERY good cleaning/​dusting. They don’t use digital XRAYS, which doesn’t allow the best imagery and exposes one to higher levels of radiation than necessary. At the times of my visits they had no place for my coat or purse (NO frills joint). They have not upgraded or improved anything in 3 years!!!

If you want a dentist who is friendly, knowledgeable and just down to earth and, as an added bonus, practices a more holistic approach to dentistry, you may want to give Dr. Rama Goswami a try. She has been my dentist for two years and I am so thankful that her office is convenient to Haymarket (literally a few yards over the Haymarket/​Gainesville border) and she works into the evening hours.
She recommended that I try the Dessert Essence Tea Tree Mouthwash which is sugar free and contains more natural ingredients than most mouthwashes. Granted the flavor isn’t great but the overall health benefits trump the taste factor for me. My semi-​annual teeth cleaning results are improved since using the tea tree oil mouthwash.
My previous dentist would not have recommended something he couldn’t sell to me and make a profit – that’s the difference between a good dentist and a great dentist like Dr. Rama Goswami.
My husband goes to her sister, Dr. Goswami, and he tells me she’s great. So with either Dr. Goswami, you can’t go wrong! Give them a try – you’ll be glad you did.
