We love Bluefin! The food is delicious and the owners are so friendly! Their sushi is fresh and priced just right. Try the crispy crab roll or volcano roll… those are our favorites!

The service is really good. The sushi is good as well. I was not impressed with the hibachi. The shrimp was rubbery and tasted terrible. Haven’t eaten there since.

This place was good. Not fantastic, not great, just good. The atmosphere and décor of the place was a bit dingy. You can tell they tried to spruce things up a bit with canvas on the walls but it didn’t work all too well but hey, at least it was very clean. I walked in thinking there was going to be a Hibachi Grill and Sushi Bar. Bluefin doesn’t have either. The sushi I ordered was a bit on the chewy and small side. Out of all the sushi I’ve had in my life, I would place it someone between the middle-low on a scale. I had to ask for a soy sauce dish which I thought was a little odd because I’ve never had to do that at a sushi restaurant. I also ordered some Crab Rangoon. That was pretty good but I usually get 6 – 8 pieces for that price and Bluefin only gave me 4. My boyfriend said his sushi was pretty good but I didn’t try it. Of course, my favorite part about this place was the music, and that isn’t sarcasm at all! It was all 90s and I had a nostalgic trip back into my childhood! No Doubt, Backstreet Boys, TLC, and even MAMBONUMBER5 were all played! Hahaha but to be honest, I haven’t decided if I will be back yet. The other customer’s were ordering Chinese food and that looked a lot better than the sushi!

Super high quality food, great presentation, and ultra friendly staff. We are from out of town and just stopped in for some hibachi and are very glad we did. We will definitely return next time we are in town.

The food is terrible. My companion ordered the chicken teriyaki, and it tasted like they had cooked the chicken beforehand and then heated it up with teriyaki sauce. I ordered sushi, but found myself wishing for the teriyaki. It tasted fishy — just hoping I don’t get sick from it. The soft shell crab roll was particularly awful — completely smothered in some sort of orange sauce. I added a star because they were friendly, but I’ll never go back.

I was in the mood for sushi at lunch today. I pulled up the menu and saw that there is a sushi lunch combo. Two rolls of my choice, salad, and miso soup. The only caveat is that if you order this to go, you can’t have the soup. No exceptions. The management would rather lose an entire order rather than putting soup in a to go container. The food here isn’t that good that they can make house rules that they refuse to bend for any reason. They are more than willing though to sell me a bowl of miso soup at an extra charge with my lunch«special» and put it in to go container. It all just doesn’t make any sense. This kind of customer service is a complete experience killer and I just can’t do business with this establishment.

Very good! It’s awesome that Gainesville FINALLY has good Chinese food and Sushi. We have been without for so long!!! Service here is excellent. The prices are fair and portions are very generous.

We were wanting to try something new while we were in Gainesville and decided to try this place as we pulled it up on Unilocal. While the service was good the Sushi left a lot to be desired. My wife and I shared some Sushi as well as some hibachi steak and chicken. The rolls were very small and it was not up to the standards of what we are use to. I probably wouldn’t go back there for the Sushi. That said, the hibachi was pretty good with the exception of the weird shredded vegetables that came with our dinner. It was kind of like Chinese slaw. All in all it wasn’t bad but we will not be going out of our way to come here again with so many other choices in the area. Also, I probably wouldn’t go there after dark as it isn’t located in the best area.

Excellent service always. The sushi comes quick and the hibachi vegetables have a sumptuous seasoning. I appreciate the fact that the ginger dressing is vegan(often get 2 salads). The atmosphere is a little stark but dishes like the teriyaki chicken and the hibachi filet are family favs make this a weekly staple for us.

Stopped into this place for lunch I felt like they were a little on the expensive side but the taste was excellent! I had the new Long Island roll and a small bowl of miso soup and my bill was $ 18.I guess for the city of Gainesville it’s good I found the atmosphere to be fine for a lunch but not romantic for a date I was dining alone so I asked if they did have orders on anything like the crab Rangoon and was told no so they don’t accommodate customers in any special way. Also they offer nothing at the end of the meal such as a mentor a cookie. I will probably only return if I’m craving sushi

Visited the town of Gainesville and since I was in mood forbsushi found the place through Unilocal I ordered sashimi dinner Which incl miso soup and small salad 8 pcs and California roll As a sushi lover I did not want California roll And requested spicy tuna roll priced at 2.00 usd more. I was told no substitutions ! After arguing with the nice waitress I suggested to keep the California roll and ordered my spicy tuna roll Service was fast and efficient no Complaints However I did not like the house rules !! After typing my review(at the restaurant) they finalized my dinner in seeing it my way! I am happy So after all a good experience !! Can recommend this place for sushi And a remarkably good selection of curry and Chinese and Indonesian dish

I had dinner at bluefin tonight. I was very impressed. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about it and now I know why. The restaurant is in a strip mall but don’t let this deter you. When you enter the front door you’ll notice that it is very elegant and subdued. The menu is very good and you’ll notice that the prices are very reasonable. They also have a wine menu you can either have wine by the bottle or by the glass. The food was quite good and the waitstaff was very very nice. I don’t believe that you’ll be disappointed, I will be trying this restaurant again in the near future.

This place is quite the find. The food is fresh, yummy, and plentiful. Appetizers are made fresh, not the frozen ones you get at most places now. Hibachi was excellent. We’ve seen the shows, and don’t need to see the food prepared in front of us. Sushi was fresh and expertly rolled. For those complaining about lack of «designer» rolls… I think you’ve lost the point of sushi. Good, fresh, seafood, paired with crisp veggies doesn’t require a bunch of novelty décor. I’ll be glad when they get their liquor license, though. Not a huge issue, we just stopped at our favorite watering hole afterwards.

I love sushi, but the sushi rolls are VERY small — especially for the price. Don’t expect any bigger rolls off the«elite» sushi menu either! Staff us attentive, but the sushi roll maker obviously made rolls at a Chinese/Japanese buffet and is just used to making small rolls. Not worth the price. Hope they would have improved with time, but sadly nothing has changed since they first opened.

This review is based only on the sushi. We were very excited about trying this new sushi restaurant in Gainesville. Our excitement quickly dwindled upon walking through the door. To be fair, it is about what you would expect for sushi in Gainesville. The sushi was mediocre at best. It reminded me a lot of the sushi you would get at Publix. The best part of the meal was the ginger dressing salad and soup. Wouldn’t recommend getting the sushi here.

The food is very good and is reasonably priced. I think this is becoming one of my regular lunch haunts. As another reviewer stated, don’t expect them to cook at your table or entertain you because it is not that type of Restaurant. Nevertheless, the food and service are very good.

Tried this place with a friend and really enjoyed the experience. Ordered some sushi rolls I hadn’t tried before and was really surprised. We ordered the dynamite roll, the Lanier roll, the sweet chili roll, and a spicy tuna. The spicy tuna was good and as I expected it to be, as I have had it before elsewhere. The other three choices were delicious and well made. We had great service with frequent visits from our server and the manager stopped by as well. I saw many plates coming from the kitchen with hibachi but did not try any. The ambiance was great and allowed my friend and into talk for about an hour or so!!! I will be back. :)

This new establishment is run by the same family that owns and operates the Gainesville Package Store one building down. My boyfriend and I were excited for«Hibachi» but upon walking in discovered that they served Hibachi food, but there is no Hibachi«performance». There is also no sushi bar and they do not serve mixed drinks. They offer a few different types of bottled beer and a few choices of Sake, but that was all. We both ordered the hibachi Chicken & Shrimp for $ 13.95 a piece. They both came with mixed veggies and rice plus the traditional pink«yum-yum» sauce you get from Hibachi restaurants and a side salad. Service was fast(although our salads were forgotten until our meal was already served) and friendly, but I’m not sure if we’d go back with such high expectations. There was NOTHING wrong with our experience, but it just wasn’t stand out special. Good food, good service. Just —- good.
