I LOVE this place and would not go anywhere else. Dana and Don run a top notch salon which is the best in Gainesville. Dana has been cutting my hair for almost a decade now. If you want a great style, come to American Salon & Spa! I have also had services at the spa and have been very pleased with the services and the value. They sell Aveda products and have everything that Aveda sells for you to try out with expert advice if you need help choosing. You never know how good you can look until you have had a quality haircut by an expert stylist. Just sit back, relax, drink some tea, and let them work their magic on you.

I went one time and had Don. He was very rough on my head and kept telling me how he would do my hair if it was straight. Definitely don’t think he likes curly hair. I paid way too much money for an iffy cut and pain. Won’t be going back!

This is a great salon run by wonderful people. The only place I get my hair done! I would highly recommend American Salon & Spa. I love the Aveda products too! They’re the only products that don’t damage my hair.

Wow! This salon was wonderful! I am so happy with the quality of service and the quality of the salon! I just moved to the area and I hate trying to find a new salon. I read the other reviews on this place and I figured this would be the best place to try first. Emily did a perfect cut and color on my long hair and had a great personality. While I was processing, Lauren did the best eyebrow job on me ever, wax and plucked. Afterward I had Lauren also do a facial. She was so knowledgeable about skin and products, and my face was beautifully glowing afterwards. Also they do free make up touch up after cuts. I couldn’t have much applied back on cause of my facial but Emily was nice to touch up a little. The salon was beautiful, very clean and they had lots of services available. Nothing seemed over priced. They really are a salon and spa. I got treated like a princess! Love, love, loved this place!

Only place I get my hair done! All of their products are Aveda and they are divine. The stylists are talented and are willing to work with exactly what you want. They also offer refreshments when you get there! If you have questions about services or the products they offer, they go into great detail about it but don’t make you feel pressured to purchase.

I loved this place. Seriously, I am going to wait to get my haircut when I go back to GA just so I can come to American. Great service a very friendly staff who listened to what I wanted. Ron cut my hair and he did a great job. I was very impressed.

Kerri was amazing! I have had the same two hair colorists for the past 7 years or so… And Kerri was perfect. She got my blonde highlights and lowlights right the first try with no bleeding foils, and didn’t even need a toner. My haircut is so good that my boyfriend even complimented it. I can’t say enough good things. The whole salon was really pretty and everyone was great. The prices are pretty average. I paid $ 150 with tip for a partial highlight/​lowlight and a cut. I have thick hair that goes almost half way down my back.

I would highly recommend this salon. They provide wonderful service and are perfectionists when it comes to giving you a flattering haircut. Sarah did a wonderful job and I look forward to coming back for my trim. Thank you !

I have been here a few times and Emily has cut, colored, and high-​lighted my hair, She is great and does a great job. The prices are high, but not outrageous, definitely worth it.
