Refuge at the Mill Salon

I absolutely loved Diana! She did a fantastic job on cutting and styling my hair and going back to have it colored. This is the only place I will go from now on! Love it!

Hands down the best salon in Ohio. The ladies who work there are as friendly as they are talented. I have never had a bad experience there and people on the street are constantly giving me compliments on my hair and nails.

I made an appointment to get my hair stripped, colored and cut. I have never been to this salon before so I relied on these Unilocal reviews and let the salon assign a hair dresser to me. I arrived and waited 50 minutes because Diane had taken two walk-​ins prior to my arrival. While I’m happy with the hair cut, I couldn’t be more disappointed with the color and my experience. I have had my hair stripped and colored at a beauty college and the student there was able to get the right color and complete my transformation in less than three hours. Yesterday my ordeal took over five hours. I showed Diane pictures of the color I wanted and she had to have help mixing the colors and it didn’t turn out the color I wanted. I even have black spots still in my hair that I discovered after I left. After applying the bleach and leaving it on for what seemed like forever, she rinsed it out and re-​applied it saying that she saw black spots. I let her continue adding more bleach to my hair in order to avoid having black spots, and I’m now left with black spots and really damaged hair. When I went to check out (at this point I’m desperate to leave) she wasn’t able to pull up my bill. I waited about 10 minutes and then just gave her cash. Luckily, I had brought the cash needed and I didn’t have to rely on my credit card or I would have had to wait even longer. Diane did mention that the salon has a color guarantee so I’m welcome to come back and have her mess with my hair for another five hours in order to get the color correct. I will not be going back.

I love getting my nails done by Leah! She is punctual & professional. The energy is always positive & relaxing. Definitely worth the money!

I’ve moved from Ohio to PA and I can’t tell you how much I miss Leah! She was THE BEST at doing my nails. Perfect french acrylics every time. I kept her card for years just so I would remember her name in case I ever moved back. Trust me, she is who you want to see!

This salon is awesome. I found this place on Unilocal in search of a great gel mani. I called the salon and the owner Leah was very nice and said she could fit me in immediately. Shanna did my nails and did an fantastic job. I am very glad I found this place because I will be back.

Gabriel was very polite, efficient, and did an excellent job on my hair. I gave minimal instructions as to what I wanted, and he was very pleased with the end result.
I was an huge fan of the environment, however. The surroundings were very professional and peaceful.

Relocated to Gahanna not too long ago and needed to find a salon. Randomly selected Refuge at the Mill and am so pleased that I did so! Angela was wonderful! Completely happy with my new color and reclaiming the shape of my cut. Angela and Leah were fantastic chatting with my 6-​year-​old daughter who was drawing and observing them at work. Sophia executed a flawless manicure for my daughter who was so pleased with her new sparkly pink nails! If you are looking for a new place for hair or nails, give Refuge at the Mill a try… you’ll love it!

I recently moved to the Columbus area. Being an avid «nail-​getter-​doner», locking down a new manicurist was one of my top priorities. From the moment I walked into the refuge salon I knew I had found my new nail home. Danielle was amazing. Not only was she there to greet me at the door she was also super nice and she listened to the previous processes I had done on my nails, to make sure no further damage was done to the nail bed. We talked about the different nail processes out there and she taught me a lot about the do’s and dont’s when it comes to having strong nails. All in all my experience AND the quality of my gel manicure were top notch. I will be recommending her to all my new friends! Looking forward to seeing the artistic talents she has up her sleeve :)

This was my first visit here, I had bought a Groupon pedicure special to be used with Danielle. She was great! Super nice and fun to talk to, and it was one of the best pedicures I’ve ever had. The salon is really nice and clean too. I will definitely be back again, make sure to ask for Danielle!

I got my hair done by Abby and she did a phenomenal job lifting me from brown to a beautiful blonde highlight, and taking my long frizzy curls and turning them into a perfect short bob! Officially the BEST style, cut and color I’ve ever had done. This is my new go to salon!

I came here during my lunch break for a gel mani. I was scheduled with Danielle. She was the best! Once I arrived she had me wash my hands and asked if I’d like a beverage. Before we walked over to her station she had me pick out my color and at first glance I noticed her well polished nails and wanted the same thing! She knew exactly what she was doing and was knowledgeable. She made me feel comfortable being there and having a general conversation. Also, the salon it self pretty much has all you need there! The people there were kind and funny. Next time I go back I’ll probably take a look into other services that are offered there. I’ve definitely found my nail tech!

I received an impromptu mani-​ped & waxing services done w Sophia. She was able to squeeze all the above before a scheduled appt and was very thorough. I am definitely not one who is considered «girly-​girl» so her advice on colors were on point. I gave her the color scheme that was required (bridal
duties) and Sophia took that info and chose colors/​tones that was complimentary to my skin tone. The colors chosen totally brought out my tan undertones and accentuated the mani/​pedis even more so. It was also nice that she wasn’t expecting to conversate the whole time so one can enjoy solace while getting cleaned up.
I also received waxing services and do not look like a caveman anymore. I am very particular abt estheticians and am very impressed w her knowledge of products. Sophia did not push products on like a car salesman, but was very informative when I did ask abt certain products. She also mentioned she purchased a diff type of wax (that is new on the salon circuit) for clients who are super sensitive. This totally exemplified Sophia is continuously researching and learning new things in the salon biz. She is totally on top of her game!

Sophia and Danielle are great! I have been seeing Sophia for almost a year for nails and occasional waxing services. She gives one of the best pedicures I’ve ever had and she is quick with her waxing so it is less painful. Danielle is a newer addition to the salon. She is very creative and a perfectionist! Both are very friendly and accommodating. The cosmetologists are independent, so you can book and pay directly with your preferred tech.

Come get a man mani by Dani… she’s the best! She took really good care of my hands and feet!

This salon changed my life! I had terrible nails, but Leah used IBX on them for a few weeks and they are fabulous. Her manicures are long lasting, too. I never have a problem booking

I got a manicure, pedicure, and massage as a gift for valentines day which I used today. The owner Leah did my manicure and pedicure and she was awesome. Marcia did my massage and she worked wonders with my lower back. The salon is very cute and is a friendly environment. I will definitely refer friends and return for future services.

I have had a wonderful experience at the Refuge At the Mill… Leah the owner is professional and also gives the best manicure and pedicure! I highly recommend Leah and Refuge at the Mill. All of the technicians at the salon are qualified and very nice too.
