After several horrific issues with contractors working with Dave’s Home Services was a breath of fresh air! From the quoting process, to the crew showing up on time, being flexible with minor changes I wanted along the way and a final inspection performed by Dave himself. It was an absolute delight. I finally have a met a contractor that’s fair, honest and actually does what I’ve contracted them to do! I feel Dave is not an honest or respectful business person. When doing work in the crawlspace of my mother’s home he only did what was visible from the crawlspace door. I went under the house and inspected it and found the rest of the job was not done at all. Even after the second time he came out only one other item was done… again something most noticeable from the entrance. When I called him and calmly and respectfully told him the work was unsatisfactory and that we did not want him to come out a third time and how would he make the situation«right» as in a discount he replied it would be made«right» when he was paid in full. He said the job was worth double what was invoiced and he gave my mother a ½ price discount because she was a single woman and that he gave all single women ½ price. This is wrong on many levels… he does not advertise this discount and if he did he would appear to be very creepy. Secondly, that would be a poor business model… too large a discount for a group of clients. Third, it’s offensive in that he is assuming all single women don’t have a respectable income and need a ½ price discount. Totally sexist. When I tried to negotiate a fair price for a job not completed in two attempts he told me he paid his workers $ 500 on a $ 950 job where materials were $ 280…and he was only making $ 100 profit. So, either he’s a poor businessman, he pays way too much for manual labor, or he lied. I lean toward the third(and maybe the first as well). Dave threatened with calling his lawyer, taking her to court, and taking a lien against my mother’s house and mentioned he made a million a year… why then is he worried about a few hundred dollars to keep a repeat customer happy on a job that was not completed in two visits? Dave never once said he was sorry we were not happy with the job and he would like another chance, that he would give a reasonable discount to keep a repeat customer happy, etc. He acted like a jerk and we will never use him again and suggest you don’t.
