Horrible service. The women who work here have the worst attitudes. Their coffee – nothing special Pastries are unorganizingly displayed in a dull chilled case. Asked if I could pay with a credit card and the lady behind the counter replied«do I have a choice?» Swiped my card and walked away. I stood there waiting for my receipt and she didn’t even turn around and said«you don’t need to sign» while walking away. If you’re not a morning person – don’t open a coffee shop

I’ve been waiting around 15 minutes to receive a grilled cheese and a soup, which is the special for 9.50. I also didn’t get a receipt. I’m not even sure if my food is coming at this point? I agree with the other reviews totally lacks customer service, nice environment though if you have 20 minutes to wait for a sandwich

I love their smoothies and drinks, but I’m no too crazy about the pastries. This is a very nice place to go with some people and chat. Or perhaps it would be a nice place to go after walking around maple lawn. I want to give 5 stars, but nothing really stands out or impress me. It is just a nice place to get a drink and chat.

The place looks nice but I came looking for a place to work and there were few outlets and the espresso was not good. The macchiato I ordered was made sloppily with the espresso poured over thin milk foam, resulting in a bitter, watery tasting macchiato. Oh and staff should frown less and smile more.

The coffee here is actually pretty good, but not good enough to endure the horribly inefficient customer service. Waiting close 20 minutes for a latte and a bagel when I’m the only one in the café? It’s a shame this is the only coffee spot in maple lawn, because a place with even average customer service would easily force sidamo out of business or force them to actually earn their customers business.

Coffee is good here, the atmosphere is cozy. But as other comments will note, the woman who works here is SO rude. She doesnt smile, just stares at you. I asked for a coffee and apple crumb cake. she gives me the coffee then just leaves the cashier until someone else comes out a bit later and stares blankly at me and i tell the new person is till have to pay and get my cake. service is terrible, which is too bad because there arent many cafes in the area

The coffee itself and the food is pretty good. The hard part to get over, is the staff. I started visiting this location about a year ago, and thought that maybe the staff was just new and didn’t have time to care about their customer service. I was quickly proven wrong, when I saw the attention and enthusiasm they showed towards select customers. It’s not the best feeling, but because I live so close to this coffee shop I keep going back hoping they liven up their attitudes. It’s been a year, and I just suck it up for the coffee and wifi.

Perfect little lunch spot. The veggie on the 7 grain bread is amazing if you like lentils. The iced mocha latte is already making my mouth water! Be easy on them because they take a little bit of time to freshly brew your beverage(even the mango iced tea is fresh).

Decent coffee and small menu. Not much good coffee around this area. Latte are better than Starbucks garbage but they are different everytime. The staff doesnt use the same expresso, foam, milk ratio. Good coffe spot good quick lunch. They have a few homemade deserts that are very good.

Home to the Maple Lawn Cars & Coffee(Saturdays from 7:30 — 10:30AM), this little shop is quite a hoot. I stopped in for just a simple cup of drip coffee and I thought that it was pretty darn good for just coffee. Top it off with good music, a wide open space with natural light, and you’ve got yourself a great place to spend a few passing hours with just casual conversation. Although the space is somewhat small, and their hours a little strange(6:30PM closing time?), it is still an excellent spot to chill out with your favorite hot(or cold) drink.

Jason L said it all. The foods okay and I agree that it’s a great place to have a business meeting or to study(good wifi), but the woman behind the counter is very cool and not very efficient. She made me feel like she wasn’t sure if she felt like waiting on me. She seemed annoyed when I checked on my order, which I think she forgot to put in. Very odd.

Excellent chai lattes, tea, coffee. Wi-fi works great. Sunny and lots of comfortable seating. Lots of complaints here about the service– it’s not warm and chatty like Starbucks demands of its workers, whether they –feel– cherry or not. They are obliged to do the sort of emotional labor that makes customers forget the ‘caring atmosphere’ is paid for and thus obligated. This is a small, immigrant-owned shop. Not every culture’s style of interaction is lab-tail-waggin American. In the end, unfortunately, the mismatch of interaction styles may doom this place, but that would be unfortunate as the clerks here are the owners and their main focus is on making great coffee/tea. It’s very evidently a craft for them, and they do it very well– minus the chipper chit-chat.

I’ll have to give them another try. I’d definitely order another breakfast sandwich here, but with the understanding that it might come out completely different than ordered… Luckily we weren’t in a big rush when we came in since I had to wait 11min for my iced mocha and I was initially brought a bagel with cream cheese instead of a veggie breakfast sandwich(egg, tomato, avocado, lettuce) on a croissant. My husband ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on an English muffin and it came on a croissant(no biggie, it was delicious, just not what he ordered). Organization is definitely not their strong suit. We gave ourselves 25min for breakfast and we should have allotted at least 35min. While we were waiting we saw another guy receive his order wrong, too. Definitely a big problem here! The mocha was ok(I should have gone with a chai) and the drip coffee was good(strong & robust). The croissants were nice and flakey.

A bright, beautiful little coffee shop with good coffee and food. Most of the drinks are well above average. This is a coffee shop, not a fast food stop so expect a wait. It’s worth it.

Nice coffee shop with short hours. The espresso was smooth and strong like it should be. The chocolate-cherry coffee cake was better than expected(nice nuanced flavors, neither dry nor oversweet). I saw several other coffeecakes in the bakery case that I would be happy to try. True to its name, several of the available drip coffees were of Ethiopian origin. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any dishes or utensils. The cake came in a bag, and no forks were visible anywhere. The espresso was in a to-go cup(no demitasse or even full-sized coffee cup offered). I like to linger over my coffee and cake, and prefer to have them in real dishes, if I’m enjoying my purchase at the café. Prices are a touch higher than Starbucks or other coffee shops. The big negative is the short hours– this was my first time here in part because they close early. On this Thursday visit, we were informed they were closing at 6pm. Even for the suburbs, that seems on the early side. A nice location in the big commercial development in Maple Lawn, it has a corner with outdoor seating and ample windows. Wish they stayed open later.

Okay, so the coffee here seems decent, good even. I also had a slice of crumb cake, which was good. But I’m having a hard time getting over the staff. The woman at the counter was cold, rude and I felt like I was being rushed through. I was not greeted at the counter, instead she just stared at me – apparently waiting for me to order. She said nothing, just stared. This was especially disconcerting given that it was my first time here and I was already unfamiliar with their ways and customs. With so many choices available for coffee shops in the greater area, I’m not sure why I’d come to a place where the staff is cold and unfriendly.

Cute little coffee shop! I needed a place to meet my real estate agent and this place was perfect for our meeting. The service was great and the place was very family friendly. A steady stream of customers proved that this place is a neighborhood favorite. I didn’t have one but I overheard several customers comment on how great their breakfast sandwiches were. I’m definitely going to try one on my next visit.

This is my first visit to Sidamo, to be honest I have no wifi yet(torture) and needed to get some work done. I’m here on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The décor is lovely very cozy with different types of seating areas including a fireplace with cozy chairs. I ordered a mocha, delicious and in a cute mug that matched the décor(I love the attention to details). I haven’t ordered a meal yet but everything being served to those around me looks good. Lot of families with kids, which is expected for this neighbourhood. If you need quiet, I suggest bringing headphones. I will be back hopefully next time without a looming deadline!

I appreciate the fact that this is an independent coffee shop. It’s tiny but pleasant. The caramel lattes, as others have mentioned, are very delicious. Limited seating. They do sell bags of coffee, but they are pricey. The morning we arrived, there was quite a line and an elderly couple(the owners I’m assuming?) doing their best behind the counter to make all the drinks. No sandwiches available, they said. Only pastries. It was clear they were short staffed, and once the line had cleared the man came by to explain that one of their employees had called in sick in the morning. Such an adorable man!

I love going to independent places and this café, occupying a corner storefront of a strip mall building, had awesome drip coffee but at one of the highest prices I’ve seen for a small(12 oz) in this day and age: $ 2.25. I didn’t have time to hang out too long here but I liked what the store did to make its square section of a suburban strip mall into a cozy café that I’d visit again if I was in the area.
