Wahoo’s Fish Tacos

I’ve been eating at wahoos for 20 years and for a few years I’d go once a week. I still remember how nice the managers were in Irvine off Michelson and Jamboree back in the day (Tony and Blanca). Now that I’ve moved to Fullerton I’ve been coming to this location and just had the worst experience w the assistant manager. I will never eat at wahoos again thanks to her and the cashier. Wahoos back in the day, employees knew customer names and treated you well… now even though they’ve seen me here many times just treated me so rudely and that my business didn’t matter.

We purchased a paleo bowl, a couple of kids meals and chips and salsa.
The service was excellent! We ordered our meal at the register. About 5 minutes later our waitress brought us our chips and salsa.
The chips were fresh and crispy and the 2 salsas (pico de gallo and a chunky medium heat salsa) were also fresh and tasty.
The kids meals consisted of a carne asada taco (you also have the choice of getting a quesadilla or an enchilada) and one with a side of french fries and the other with a side of black beans and cilantro rice. At $ 4.99, the meal is priced generously.
The kids meal carne asada tacos were just ok-​the tacos came with a double corn tortilla layer filled with ok quality meat. The meat was had a rough and chewy texture.
The french fry side was excellent. The fries were large, warm, perfectly crispy. The fries came with a side of ketchup and ranch dressing (yum!)
The black beans and rice side was decent. The black beans were nicely flavored but not soft-​they needed more slow cooking time. The cilantro rice had little flavor-​more like regular white rice.
The Paleo Bowl was excellent, but too salty! The bowl comes with 2 proteins, a light cole slaw, avocado slices on a bed of sauteed vegetables (bell pepper, mushroom, onion, broccoli, cabbage). First of all, the bowl presentation is beautiful-​a variety of colors, textures. And the flavors are excellent. However as I worked my way through the bowl, I realized how salty the vegetables were. Im not sure if this was an accident or if the bowl is usually prepared this way.
Nonetheless, for the great service, awesome ambiance and decent food, I will give Wahoo Tacos another try.

Love this wahoos! The food is always good and the service is awesome! I’ve been to many wahoos and none of them have the same feeling of service as this one. My order was the screamin’ burrito with brown rice. I got it wet this time but normally I order it dry. The mr. Lees sauce on the side makes the burrito even better. I would recommend this place to anyone and I often tell my students that it’s my favorite place to eat a quick bite and might have it every so often as an extra credit question. 5 stars!

I know it’s a chain but it’s really good and doesn’t feel like you’ve consumed a ton of heavy Mexican food. The fish tacos are super with the tangy slaw. Really great.

This is a Mexican restaurant with a hint of Asian influence. With a surfer/​skater atmosphere it’s a nice place to relax and have lunch. The menu is simple but good with the ingredients being very fresh and tasty.

Wahoos is always a great Choice it’s always consistent and you know what you’re getting. Fresh non processed food. I’ve been coming to this particular location for over 6 to 8 years. I’ve never had a bad experience the service is always great and if they do somehow mess up your order they always correct it without a hesitation.
My go to is the 2 item combo I usually go with 2 spicy chicken with one red the other green sauce. With white rice and white beans, (black beans and brown rice also available) the green sauce is on point! Has a nice zesty cilantro creamy taste. Love it!
Overall, wahoos is a great spot that has amazing food with great service. Would definitely recommend stop by for an inexpensive lunch or even a small dinner.

Great service! The lady that brought our food to us was very kind and made sure everything was okay — not typical most places like this. Food was good too!

Wahoo’s is super Paleo and Whole30 friendly. Which I found out on day 30 of my Whole 30. There are paleo salad, bowl and an Avo taco option.

Wahoo’s is always great, but this one is our FAVORITE location!
First off, the staff is very attentive and super friendly, stopping by our table often to make sure we were enjoying our meals and had everything we needed.
It has a fun college feel– indoor or outdoor seating and offers plenty of 4 seater booths (I mention this because I find this lacking at the 3 other Wahho’s I’ve visited).
Their food speaks for itself– it is DELICIOUS, fresh and healthy. Between our family of four, we all get something different.
1. Spicy wahoo bowl with black beans– a Wahoo’s staple that never disappoints — spicy, hearty, filling, I prefer mine with the banzai veggies but hubby does not– the beauty of it is– you get to choose!
2. Chicken tortilla soup with a perfectly ripe ½ avocado on top– served piping hot and loaded with a variety of yummy vegetables– a meal in itself!
3. Chicken tacos– another classic item on the Wahoo’s menu, my daughter orders them spicy, and they do not disappoint, as they are firey hot, just how she likes them!
4. Citrus slaw shrimp tacos– these are a newly discovered item by me and I’m in LOVE! The shrimp is succulent and moist and pairs perfectly with the crunchy vinegar slaw. I can’t get enough!
We topped off our amazing meal with their «churro chips” — flour tortilla chips with plenty of cinnamon-​sugar. Our girls loved them so much, it was hard to sneak a bite as they devoured them!

I’m so happy to have a Wahoo’s right down the street from my house. Their food is excellent and healthy, their prices are fair and the staff at this location are very nice.

Great food at a reasonable price! This location is always kept clean, fast and courteous! I have been eating here for years and never think to review.
Fish tacos mild: we order the combo and pick spicy white beans and white (brown available) rice. New slaw topping, hubby says it’s good.
I love #1 combo choosing one carnitas enchilada with red sauce, spicy white beans and white rice.
Tortilla soup adding avocado is very filling and delish! (This is the same as ‘fit soup’ but cheaper!)
My daughter loves their Black BEANS, and they have the BEST sweet onion rings.
Covered Parking structure, pleating of spacious seating in restaurant (some wahoo’s are cramped). This place is good if your short on time, food is quick. Order at cashier and servers brig out your food. I usually leave a small on my table… Servers always helpful.

Hands-​down, by far the best Wahoo’s and I have eaten at almost every single one of them multiple times.
We came here on a Sunday after my son’s baseball game in the portions are massive and the food was super super tasty. Every single one of us had the best plate of Wahoo’s. my wife and kids have been eating it for over 10 years and I have been eating here for over 25 years at different Wahoo’s. These cooks know exactly what they are doing here keep it up!

Came to wahoos for a quick lunch today, overall I was impressed with the taste and quality of food. I got the fish taco and enchilada plate. Considering that wahoos is a chain restaurant, The grilled fish taco was surprisingly delicious. However, enchilada was disappointing.
The service was friendly and quick, and the food was fresh, healthy, and tasty. Great place to grab a quick/​healthy bite.

Fish tacos, black beans, and brown rice… yum! I have been wanting to eat at this place for a long time. The tacos were dressed just right. There wasn’t too much slaw mix or too much of a mayonnaise taste. Fish was seasoned well and sides weren’t bad. This was the perfect healthy eating I needed. Next I’ll try the one closer to me and hope it is just as good!

1^st time here Emma the register girl very nice and informative answered my question about the menu smiling the whole time. I was told to try these nachos so I did. Good choice nice and chunky good flavor. The staff here is great there either cleaning helping customers or walking around asking how you food is and if you need anything. This is a small place very simple but the staff treats it like its a fancy restaurant that’s pretty impressive I’ll for sure be back to try some tacos this place just got a new customer. Great job everyone working today hopefully your managers tell you that too.

Maui onion rings were recommended by the friendly cashier, Emma M. I give them five full stars due to the citrus heaven my mouth entered. Thanks for the recommendation, i am hooked. What i like about the rings is the lemon burst in each bite. First experience with this style ring. Definitely worth the calories.
Maui bowl was a three star experience. Just a bit too salty but the food runner was very kind and brought out Mr Lee salsa and a roasted salsa. Both and or either help settle the salty flavor. The salsa saves the dish and i would say brings the overall taste pleasure to a four star experience.
Spoke to the manager as he sat down at a table with small samples of various items. He said he had to taste everything to ensure quality. Nice.
I liked the friendliness of the workers and overall good flavor of the food. Manager dedication to quality is impressive.
Five star is awarded for all the hard work this store puts into the preparation of food and for their eagerness to provide excellent customer service. Keep it up noon crew.

Good healthy options here, got the salmon bowl and Maui bowl really good. The Maui bowl I wasn’t expecting a teriyaki sauce though but it was overall tasty.

Woohoo for this Wahoo’s! I come here repeatedly for lunch, since I work 2 blocks down and IT HAS YET to disappoint (knocking on wood). Customers pack this place like it’s going out of style. It’s close to Fullerton HS, Fullerton JC and many businesses; I can tell it’s a people’s favorite. I miss going to the one across from South Coast Plaza, when I used to work near there. Walking to this one from my work office only takes me 3 – 4 minutes!
Since I normally do lunch here, I try to order something petite. My regular order may consist of: 3 Taquitos for $ 4.99, chicken, steak and carnitas, with guac, sour cream and pick de gallo; or Baja Rolls for $ 4.99, diced chicken mixed with cream cheese, spinach, tomatoes & onions wrapped in a flour tortilla; I have also had chicken quesadillas, steak quesadillas, chicken nachos and steak nachos. Their chicken is usually chopped in large cubes and sometimes not-​so-​tender. Their steak however, is consistently well prepared and succulent.
Service is superb, when I get food to go, it takes no longer than 10 minutes, sometimes less than 5 — which deserves thunderous applause. I have also dined in and my encounters were equally great.
Wahoo’s is still rad to me after all these years!

Pretty solid food. Lots of space inside the restaurant, and very friendly service. I suggest trying their cheese enchilada – the sauce is awesome.
Fish taco is a solid here!

Wahoo’s is known for their fish taco. I started going to Wahoo’s almost 6 years ago with the college and young adult group from church. Even since going to Wahoo’s, I always crave for their fish taco. They’re the best in Downtown Fullerton.
I went here last Wednesday for… yes… you guessed it… Fish tacos. Got it with rice and beans. It’s so good, I can’t stop eating those. The prices here can be expensive, but worth it. Very friendly service.
Highly recommended the fish taco here.
