The General Store is a cool spot by the people that created Carpe Diem in the same artsy shopping center in Downtown Fullerton. I didn’t even know that the original photography studio that was there originally had left and a new spot had taken the space, but I was pleasantly surprised at how many cool trinkets and other accessories were available inside. The store is small, but it’s utilized to its fullest to show off the cool candles, shirts, household objects and other cool knick knacks to make your living space a little bit more interesting. If you’re looking for that one-of-a-kind present for your bestie and want to accompany it with an artsy card, then you’ll be in luck as they have all this and more. Everything ranging from incense, shirts for men and even a bust of Chopin were available for purchase and the prices weren’t too steep either. One thing that they had that I didn’t even know existed was beard oil. Apparently with all the hipsters sporting large amounts of facial hair, products to help make your beard not only smell like a variety of different scents are available while hydrating that face hiding behind it at the same time. They come in little bottles with eye droppers so you can apply as needed. I can’t grow facial hair, so I will never have the need — but if you’re friend or loved one does, maybe this would be a cool gift to consider for that next special occasion. I’m really happy that more local shops like this are opening downtown and I hope it only continues to grow. The lady working behind the counter was awesome and was super helpful when we had questions about the items(like beard oil) that we had never heard of. We’ll be back!
