Work was okay wasn’t really impress they left the project a couple of times to work on other houses. I thought they were expensive but still decided to go with them because of all the great reviews. But was disappointed with the work done. Maybe they do a great job but that wasn’t my experience.

These folks are really honest and good working people. Our house did a lot of electrical work and demolition. It looked like a house that really needed lots of drywall repair. J&R provided us a decent estimate, especially emphasizing on doing a quality job. We had a total of 4 bids that came in, John was really open in discussing about everything, and he was really attentive to the details of the repairs. He was in our top two candidates, and we were pretty selective. I just want to recommend him along with the existing reviews already for his patience and honest work!

John and his crew have far exceeded our expectations with their professionalism and quality of service they provided. Like any sane person, I gathered three different quotes to re-​plaster and flatten our ceilings before deciding which contractor to hire. Although they came in second price-​wise, it was their great attitude, promptness, and their passion to let me know exactly what needs to be done and why it needs to be done a certain way that ultimately won me over. There’s nothing better than to feel like or get the satisfaction of learning what kind of work needs to take place to do the job right.
Now onto their performance, they are ALWAYS on time (actually they show up early every time) – they were very courteous and take measures to protect your belonging and the rest of your house from the work they were doing. They even went as far as fixing/​taking on additional work that they didn’t bid for in their proposal and admittedly just doing me a favor to make things right on the ceiling on one of the bedrooms. Our ceilings look amazing, I can’t say enough good things about them – have J&R Custom Walls come out and do an in-​home estimate and see what I’m talking about for yourself; you won’t regret it!

We hired John and his team to open up a wall to expand our living room. He and his team exceeded our expectations! Our house looks amazing. My husband and I went with his recommendations to make it look seamless. You can’t even tell the other room used to be a bedroom. He is fair, honest, hard-​working, and a real sweetheart. J&R custom walls is an amazing family business! We were so lucky to have them referred to us by a friend. Hiring J&R Custom Walls was one of the easiest and best decisions that we made while doing some minor remodeling to our new home.
There are many wonderful things about J&R custom walls, I could go on and on. To start off with, John is an amazing contractor. He is honest, fair, on time and he is a perfectionist. His guys are respectful and do an amazing job.
We hired J&R custom Walls to open up a wall, remove the popcorn ceiling, replace a wall with wood paneling with brand-​new drywall and repair lots of drywall cracks. My ceiling looks wonderful! I’ve never seen a smoother beautiful ceiling before.
Throughout the whole process John was there every single day. Who knew that contractors actually showed up to their worksites after the job was secured? John does! He made sure that his guys were doing a perfect job. If it was not perfect, John made them redo it.
I cannot wait to to be able to do another remodeling project around our house. That project will not be complete unless J&R Custom Walls will be working on it!

This is a family owned business that exceeded our expectations for our drywall repair needs. Drywall is an art. Not just anyone can do it. We had to learn that the hard way in the past trying to do jobs ourselves. The work provided by Marty, John and his team was flawless. We had 3 major jobs (2 due to HVAC install and 1 due to a flood). We also had a multitude of minor repair issues throughout the house. We had a repair over the kitchen sink and they matched the knockdown PERFECTLY. You couldn’t even tell anything was done. It looked original — each repair they did. Like I said, it is an art. Additionally, one of their crew noticed a leaking pipe once the small piece of drywall over the kitchen sink was removed. We were able to get a plumber in to fix a line of pipe the same day. The drywall tech could have easily not noticed, patched the drywall, said nothing and we would have faced a much bigger, more expensive problem down the road. J&R Custom Walls went above and beyond in both their workmanship and customer service. They were meticulous about prepping and clean-​up as well. I highly recommend this company for your drywall needs. As an added bonus, you’ll never meet a nicer team. Very positive attitude and you can tell they take pride in their work and making their customer’s happy.

I had two small drywall repair areas and I’m very happy I found J&R. The gentleman who came out was super friendly and did a great job! I was also appreciative that they called afterwards to ensure I was happy with the work.

I needed a drywall work done quick. So I looked on Unilocal and contacted since they were not far away. Good call by me! John made a quick response and made gave a fair price. John and his team came out the following work day ON TIME and went straight to work. John communicated to his team very well and listened to any concerns I had. He finished the job on time. I found John to be a pleasure to do business with and with a good sense of humor. My wife and I are very please with his crew and would hire him again. I will refer him to anyone. I have been using John from J & R Custom Walls for over six years. In that time he has always done great work for myself and my customers. To date I would estimate he has done about 30 projects for me. Great work, fair prices, honest estimates and very clean job sites. I would be happy to refer them to any one I know.

I am so pleased (and relieved) to be able to write this review of John and J&R Custom Walls. Hiring a contractor to work on my house is always a stressful process for me — I have no idea if who I hire will turn out to be great or a nightmare. We have done a lot of remodel projects over the past eight years (with seven different contractors) and I have had both. But luckily, Unilocal steered me right!
First of all, I would like to mention that I contacted five different contractors to come out and give me an estimate for our job (insulating and dry walling our ceiling and an attached wall, removing a half wall, texturing and painting, plus some drywall patch work). Of those five, John was one of only two who actually showed up on time. He was also only one of two who actually followed through and provided me with an estimate. And right off the bat, I knew I liked him. He is very warm, friendly, and professional. He thoughtfully reviewed the space, discussed the options available, and gave me a very fair estimate for the work.
Then our job started. With other contractors, this is where the wheels might start to come off. But not with John — he and his crew (yes, John actually shows up to the job site and works with his crew) showed up exactly on time every single day and they worked full days. It was very important to me that this job be done on CONSECUTIVE days — no missed work days which would draw the work out longer than necessary. Plus, there was another contractor coming in after this job, so they really had to finish by a set day. John was true to his word and there were no missed days (including Sunday) — they even finished one day early (even though we added in extra projects a couple days before they started). I really appreciated this level of professionalism and commitment.
Speaking of professionalism, I want to mention that John’s crew is really stellar. In addition to all being very nice guys, I didn’t hear a single four-​letter word used and John politely asked if the guys could play music while they worked (which ended up being ‘80s alternative and rock — funny). They were very respectful of me, my husband and our home. I really appreciated that.
On top of all of that, they really did an excellent job. John is a perfectionist and is very detail-​oriented. He made sure everything was absolutely perfect — even if it meant extra work for him and his crew. We wanted to just patch a couple areas of drywall and after thinking about it, John determined that the wall would really look much better if the ENTIRE wall was re-​textured. But did he try to get us to pay extra to do it? No — he did it for free because «it is the right thing to do to make the wall look great.» What? Who does that? Seriously, I thought I was being punked. And he did that twice — requiring his guys to texture and paint two entire walls rather than just patching two areas.
For the wall texture, we were having a hard time matching the existing texture in the rest of the house that was done 60 years ago. After a trying a few different techniques, they came up with something that my husband was happy with and I reluctantly went along with (I knew it wasn’t going to be right, but I didn’t want to be difficult hold them up too long). Well, even though I said it was fine, John could tell I wasn’t thrilled with it, so he and his guys spent another 30 minutes (one hour total on this) trying different techniques until they came up with something that matched perfectly. I was thrilled! It is so refreshing it have someone working on your house who is really on your side — they just want you to love the finished project, even if it results in more work for them.
I have always done all the painting in our house — I am pretty good at it and always get the trim lines straight. I wasn’t sure whether their painter would do as good a job as I would, but I needn’t have worried — Martin did a PERFECT job (better than I would have done). He even painted a couple other things while he was at it — our mantle and a door trim — that he didn’t have to do and that I had planned to do later. That was such a nice surprise! Start to finish, these guys were really a class act.
John and J&R Custom Walls really are the gold standard for contractors. I wish they offered customer service seminars for other contractors. I am pretty sure that John is the only contractor I have ever hired who actually asked me if I was happy with everything at the end of the job (I am VERY happy — the room is gorgeous) and thanked me for the business. I am already starting a list of projects for the next time I hire him!

From start to finish, we were extremely pleased with John Reichman, his crew, and ultimately the finished work. Starting with the quoting process, John listened very well as I reviewed the work to be done. His crew was very good with preparing and protecting the work area. Tile was protected with ram board (thin but heavy duty cardboard material). Plastic was used to protect the carpeting. John’s crew started at 7:00 AM each day. They were always on time. At the end of the job, the entire area was cleaned up. Even the outside area was hosed down. John communicated promptly and clearly throughout the process. We would hire J&R Custom Walls again. John, Jose, Juan, Ispano, and the rest of the crew did a wonderful job.

Had John and his crew come out to the house to drywall the garage. His guys did an excellent job. They showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves, and maintained a professional work ethic. I didn’t know our garage could look so good. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend John and his team for drywall repair and installation.

I was having a furnace installed and one of the workers put his foot through my ceiling. The company sent J&R Custom Walls to do the repairs. I was apprehensive since I only use people recommended on Angie’s List for this type of work and I didn’t see them listed (they aren’t). John came out and estimated what the job would take and scheduled a day/​time to do the work. He and his team showed up on time and did an absolutely *awesome* job! He went above and beyond to not only repair the damage (which was fairly extensive) but make it look better than it was before the accident! He even came back out to fix what looked like a relatively minor issue (which turned out to be bigger than expected) because he wanted to make sure the job was done right. I asked John why he wasn’t on Angie’s List and he said he had so much business that he didn’t think he needed to be (and I can see why now). I cannot recommend J&R Custom Walls highly enough!

John and his company exceeded my expectations for drywall installation and repair 1) He always arrived early, 2) Very tidy (even took pictures before the drywall installation, in order to put everything back in it’s proper place). 3) Pays attention to details. My job was complex and he was excellent at troubleshooting (including bringing another contractor at no charge to help solve my problem). And even after the job was complete and money paid — he came back for a small touch-​up on paint. I would use his company again without hesitation.
