I still love Gem Meats. I have 2 products that are my current favorites. The first is the hand cut to order Filet Mignon Steaks. Great flavor and Tender. 1 ½ inches was perfect for the grill. The second is the BUTTERFLIED boneless chicken breasts. Perfect for the grill as it will cook even and with the skin on will stay juicy. Unlike the watery flavorless super market chicken breasts, Gem’s are meaty, flavorful and delicious. Compare the texture and you will see what I mean. I season mine with sea salt & black pepper and put on a wood fired grill. While cooking I squeeze fresh lemon juice which caramelizes and 2 minutes prior to finish sprinkle lemon zest over the chicken to allow the heat to release the oils, but not burn the zest. Absolutely outstanding. You will be surprised by how many people you can feed with 4 full breasts butterflied.

Seriously this place is great. Top quality meats and great service. Steaks are great, rack of lamb is awesome. I like to call ahead and have them tie up a prime rib for the rotisserie. They also have boars head salami and cold cuts. Just the best. It’s not cheap but it’s well worth the price. They have a nice selection of veggies to go with the meat. I highly recommend this place.

Good price on everything. So far i’ve spent more than a couple hundred dollars here on seafood. I’ve not had any problem with their food. The employees are very nice and helpful. They also make their own beaf jerky– give it a try.

Great prices, great selection, great service. One of the butchers misheard me and gave me ribs instead of liver. I saw him weigh them but figured they were for another customer. Didn’t pay attention to what was written on the package when I grabbed it. Got home and realized they were ribs. By the way, on the same day I was in a minor accident, and then locked my keys in the trunk an hour later, then I see I got ribs vice liver, pretty bad day. Came back an hour later and they took the ribs back, and gave me a refund, and I got the liver. Totally helpful, chill, real good people. Definitely will be coming back. Bravo.

Gem is still my favorite local Butcher Shop. I bought the Bratwurst(homemade by Gem), Baby Back Ribs and Asparagus. All awesome. Check my pictures. Check them out. Their customer service cannot be beat.

I have been coming here for years. They have excellent quality meats and I always buy my roasts and steaks here for holidays and parties. The staff is courteous and helpful. I just had guests over for the 4th of July and we loved the rib eye steaks that I purchased here. Sooooo tasty, tender and delicious!

This place is awesome. The prices are generally lower than the grocery store and the selection is awesome. The quality is off the charts.

These guys are awesome! I’ve been looking for a deli that was able to cut some Ribeye for some awesome Philly’s I wanted to make and can never find a place until I found this little gem. They have an awesome, fresh selection of meats available. It is a bit pricy but the guys were able to give me advice on choices of meats for cooking and such. I will definitely be back!

This place is great, the service is absolutely on point, friendly and you don’t have to act all Nancy pancy. I literally walked in, asked for a badass steak to grill, and was handed something that was genuinely great. Flavorful and tender. I loved it. If you are looking for a good butcher, this is a good place to start.

5 stars plus! Went in here last sunday and was very impressed on the amount of products they have there. 4 butchers behind the counters to assist us, everything looks very fresh and clean reminded me of east coast butcher stores. they’re items are little pricey but well worth it like they say you get what you pay for. I have been looking for a good butcher for a long time and I think I finally found the them.

Absolutely wonderful. Bought clams and my dinner guests claimed they were the best clams they had ever eaten. Also bought shrimp and filet mignon the same day… fresh and flavorful. Only suggestion would be that the staff should be at the ready with recipes, cooking hints, etc… like they do at El Toro Meats.

I told my man I wanted to check this place out over the weekend. He tells me we have been there before. I, for the life of me, do not remember ever coming here, but he swears we did once when we lived in Placentia. He’s probably right! Anyway, we stopped in on Sunday and I picked up two New York steaks, a double breast of lemon pepper chicken, a double breast of some kind of soy/garlic/ginger chicken, and some orange juice. The cost was around $ 60 which was incredibly reasonable considering how massive the chicken breasts were. All of the meat was great! The steaks were juicy and thick, very good quality. The chicken breasts worked for four meals since they were so massive. The marinade on both of them was delicious. Hopefully i’ll remember this place and come back when I want some meat!

I’d give this place 5 stars if some of the employees were a little friendlier. I have been twice and the butcher I dealt with last time was very unwelcoming. Also, I think that it’s silly that you need to pay at least $ 10 to use debit/credit, although the cashier I dealt with was really nice and totally cool with me paying debit on a $ 6 amount. That being said, I highly recommend this place. Their homemade Italian sausage is outstanding and at $ 4/lb a great price. There’s virtually no other butcher shops in OC except The Butchery, which is also great, but quite expensive. Their Italian sausage is double the price and not as good, in my opinion, as Gem’s.

The outside of this store does not tell the story of what’s inside. In fact we thought we were going to the type of place that served tacos and sold marinated carne asada. Well we were surprised to see a meat market. They sell carne asada too and it is amazing. We buy it almost weekly and I have never had a fatty/gritty piece and always tender. I now buy all my meat from this place including, frozen stuff. I like the family like atmosphere, friendly employees and they always give me a sample of stuff(if not raw) to try before I buy. There is also a small produce section. If you are into supporting family business this is the place to go. FRESHFRESHFRESH and pretty reasonable in price. You could get meat for slightly cheaper but not with the same quality. Did I mention I love this place!!!

Is this a meat shop or a Harley store? I was a little intimidated the first time I went there but everyone @ Gem Meats was nice and professional. I am a Unilocaler, not a cook. I know great steakhouses but I am clueless when it comes to raw meats. Patrick is awesome. Think of him as your personal shopper or omakase meat chef. Let him know what you like/dislike and he’ll give you recommendations. Just look for the tattooed guy with knives. Ya, you wouldn’t want to mess with him. I like beef over pork. Not a fan of chicken unless it’s fried or cordon bleu. I got 26 oz bone-in ribeye, 1.5 lbs bottom sirloin cut in stir fry strips with excess fat removed and homemade Italian sausages. My meats are cut perfectly and seasoned to perfection. They are flavorful and juicy. You can get bacon and ham for breakfast @ this butcher shop. Marinated teriyaki meats are also available. Old fashioned butcher house with meat hooks. This place is spacious, clean, and organized. Great quality fresh meats + reasonable price + friendly service = a gem. 5 stars! Steakalicious! Gem Meats is yummylicious!

This is the best best butcher shop in ALLOFLOSANGELES. I’ve been to a few. Carnercerias, Italian meat shops, local butchers, chain groceries, speciality prime meat shops. THIS is the unicorn you are looking for!(Unicorn meat not sold) For the price, quality, service and overall roasty meat smell that sticks to your skin after you leave the store THIS is the meat market that conquers all other meat markets! I bought prime rib roast for Christmas. You can call in to preorder or just show up. I called in just to be sure I’d get my roast. It was about $ 40 for 3.3lbs of prime roast. Slap on a dry rub, grill that baby over indirect heat with the oak chips they sell at that the store and you are having a very merry Christmas dinner. They also sell Boar’s meat sliced, fresh bread delivered from some local guy, frozen food, the best gluten free chips, horseradish and some fresh produce. I always get a boneless prime rib if I’m feeling a fancy dinner is in order. Those cost about $ 15/lb I think(much cheaper than the Meat Market in brea). Their pre-made meatloaf is amazeballs as well. A steal at only $ 2.99/lb. You go there enough they start recognizing you and your order. It’s kinda embarrassing but pretty cool.

I only come here for my holiday meats. Bought two 9 lb prime rib roasts for about 10.95 per pound. Its a little more than Costco, but at least Gem trims and ties it off for easy separation for carving. The guys are super cool and willing to give pointers. I bought my roast two weeks before cooking it. I dry aged the meat in my extra fridge and left it in a cold spot. Took the meat and roasted it ay 200 degrees for 4 hrs and then rested for 1.5 hrs. Once everyone is ready to eat, I refired the oven for 500 degrees at 15 minutes to give it some color.

Great place, great service and a great selection of meats. I have always had a good experience shopping at Gem Meats. Special requests don’t upset them and they’re always happy to help you out. Thanks Gem Meats, you’re my go-to store for meat, marinades and of course, the store-made salsa!
