Our first time visit. Not very pressed. Bill was rude and condescending. Thankfully there are options at Fullerton.

Highly recommend. I have checked out other flight schools and none come even close to the excellence that AFI provides. Their instructors are top notch, the airplanes are some of the finest rentals you’ll find, and the owners and staff are friendly — I felt welcome and like part of the family the minute I started training there. If you’re going to get into aviation, this is the place to do it.

I am surprised AFI has yet to have a single review! Well, I am honored to be the first.
I started my aviation studies back in march of 2012. I chose AFI because of it’s excellent location and very reasonable prices. All the equipment and aircraft at AFI are in excellent condition and the staff here are awesome.
I got started with Saturday ground courses before I even stepped into a plane. It was great to have an overview of the material before diving head first into it all. You are learning how to fly which can be overwhelming at first, so staying ahead of a lesson on the ground is always a smart move.
I was assigned with CFI Frank for my training and he was with me every step of the way; from ground, to solo, to cross-​county flights and to my checkride. I never felt underprepared at any point in my training.
AFI has a great system of breaking up their training into phase checks at pivotal points in the student’s training. The student gets the chance to fly in the plane with an instructor other than their primary instructor. Its helps the instructors see the progress of their students and helps students prepare for what will be their eventual checkride.
Overpreperation sums up my checkride experience. Sure I was nervous a bit, but always under control. Once the examiner and I took off, the nerves faded and my training kicked in. The test was a great experience and I owe my certificate to the awesome crew at AFI. Looking forward to coming back later this year for my instrument rating.
Learning how to fly is a challenging but immensly rewarding experience; if it’s something you’re considering, AFI is the place.
