Alex was great in every way. Honest, clear, and knowledgeable– he came over gave us a really good price for the quote of what we needed and even when complications arose the day of the job, he still stuck to the quote. He was a very hard worker, and a very respectful and kind person. He took care of everything we needed, even though it was more difficult than anticipated and charged us a very fair amount. Will DEFINITELY call again if we need more electrical work done in the future. He was all around awesome!!! Big thanks to Alex!!!

DISCLAIMER: This review is for the California Division but it is the same owner so be WARNED! By far the WORST electrician I have ever worked with. I hired him because he came as a referral from the friend of a good worker I use, MISTAKE! I have renovated 37 single family and multi-family homes in Los Angeles in the past 11 years and this has been my worst experience with a company yet. This is the first time I will pursue a complaint with California’s Contractors State License Board and I will also be pursing a lawsuit against his company. Owner, Mike Shaffer, is dishonest, lacks integrity, buys the cheapest materials and allows poor workmanship and stole materials that I paid for. He even threw a temper tantrum on site and cut all the power to the entire address so no other workers could work. It’s hard to say Elite Power and Lighting is even a company because it is one guy, Mike Shaffer. He has been licensed for less than 2 years. We hired him to work on two duplexes on the same property. An original 1919 craftsman and the back duplex which is new construction. He was unable to complete either duplex. INFACTWELEARNEDHEHIREDGUYSOFFCRAIGSLIST he has never worked with before. They were UNLICENSED and UNSUPERVISED. These guys were incompetent and SMOKINGDRUGS the entire time they were there. The entire job site wreaked. Mike Shaffer then informed me he was going on vacation one day before leaving. He did not respond to emails or phone calls. We did not hear or see him for over a month. Yet, of course he cashed his checks. If your wondering why I didn’t fire him and just get another electrician it because: 1. The permit was active under his license and 2. It’s is very difficult to get a licensed contractor to take over a job that they did not begin because they do not want to accept the liability. Anyway, I wrote him an email telling him if he was able to complete the job we can put everything behind us and consider a miscommunication otherwise I would need to seek to recover my damages and report him. HEAGREED to finish the job in a timely manner and complete the back duplex which had approximately 3 days of work left. He sent a guy over for a day and then he was to come back in the beginning of March to complete the finish work. I gave him an entire week heads-up to come and finish and HEREFUSED he said that he was at least 2 weeks out. I reminded him of his contractual agreement and the agreement that he come in the beginning of March. I asked him to please come and do at one unit because I have tenants supposed to move. He told me that it is NOT A PRIORITYTOHIM. So, I was forced to accept his date and when I did he told me he is not coming at all. He starting spouting off that I was delusional. He claimed he was only paid $ 8000. In fact I have paid him over $ 12,000 directly and his unlicensed subcontractors and new licensed contractors approximately another $ 10,000. It was really bizarre behavior. I went home sent him the exact amount of cancelled checks he’s cashed and even told him he could pay a licensed contractor of my choice at half the rate he charges for his guys. Anyway, guess what? He disappeared again. So, now I will be forced to pursue legal action and report him to the Better Business Bureau and State Contractors Board. I gave this guy every chance to make it right but I guess he wants to do it the hard way. And while it’s a waste of my time and energy I will follow through on principle alone. Let me also share with you why he has so many good reviews on Unilocal. He is quite clever at marketing. He has a marketing company send out an email to people he worked for asking is they would hire him again. If one answers, «yes» it takes you to the Unilocal website and asks you to give a favorable review. If one answers, «no» it does not direct you to make a review. That is extremely misleading to consumers but it is clever. Also, while he may be capable of changing out a ceiling fan or an outlet I would highly discourage anyone from using ELITEPOWERANDLIGHTING because Mike Shaffer may sound well spoken on the phone but the guy that shows up to do the job will most likely be a toothless druggie that he doesn’t know and hired off craigslist. If you’re doing a major renovation or a job that permits are necessary you will be making a big mistake by hiring this guy. I will keep you all posted on what the judge does.

I called Elite Power and Lighting because I had issues with power going out in parts of my home. I spoke with Nick who was very courteous on the phone. Nick came out and with a little searching found the issues that were causing the problem. I highly recommend Elite Power and Lighting if you need service. Nick was very professional and took the time to explain and show the issues to me and the recommendations needed to fix the problem and prices were very reasonable. Thank you Nick and Elite Power and Lighting for locating and correcting the issue. Everything is working beautifully and as it should. Will definitely call them again in the future should the need arise to require their services again!
