Terrific lunch! I had the burger with fried onions and their hand cut fries. She had the quiche and salad. Both beautiful and absolutely delicious. Loved knowing where locally all the food came from. Loved the place. We will be back often.

Great falafel, hummus, and fries. Delicious food. Lovely attentive service. We had a really nice lunch. The restaurant is very attractive and natural feeling. There is a hamburger on the menu so it was even good for or son. I would recommend this place over anything else in Frostburg. Good portions and prices too.

Great breakfast. Perfect quiche, vegan hash, and a cinnamon roll as big as your face. Great space, great service, local food.(Only downside was bacon, $ 5 for 2 pcs, rock hard.)

Delightful food in a delightful space with a helpful and courteous staff. The food tastes as good as it looks, but I can’t seem to find my photos.

Frostburg offers this charm of a restaurant located downtown. Fresh farm to table food. Had the special of the day, Curried Lamb, which felt like Indian comfort food. It’s cozy inside, but probably ideal for the little town. Support this local business. Delish food, kind service and not too far off the highway.

Friendly atmosphere with local and ethical food serving. College town feel and the food is great. Quaint wooden table and chairs with tiny little salt and pepper shakers. The wall has local photographs for sale. The pictures are of a local farm taken by their very first chef. Look up and appreciate their ceiling. I am also having desert with coffee and vanilla soy. Did I fail to mention they are Vegan and Vegetarian friendly. Stop by if your on a road trip and check out this restaurant.

We were very excited to try this restaurant while in Frostburg. Overall, the food was good. Very expensive though. The real disappointment however, was that they charge $ 10.00 to cork a bottle of wine. This also includes any beer or wine coolers. Our bottle of wine was a screw top and cost us $ 10.00 ??? Many customers brought their alcoholic beverages back to their car. We had the Mac and cheese $ 13 which was good. Also had the burger which was good but very small for $ 15. Not sure we would go back — was taken back by the cork fee.

My family loves the Shift for many reasons so I list them for you! 1. The idea of farm to table. This is how we were created to eat, not the comercialized, industrial production of pseudo food stuffs. The food tastes better, is better for your health and even more pleasant to view when it is fresh! 2. The food is great! Everything we have had at the Shift has been excellent! From the burgers to the falafel we have never been disappointed. Tasty, well prepared and fresh, can it get any better than that?!? 3. The employees are friendly. From the cook to the waitress, we have never been treated rudely or brusquely. Rather they take an interest in you and your food, which is again how we were made to live! If you haven’t eaten here yet, then you should. Make it a healthy, tasty habit!

Went in on a rainy Saturday morning and had a very pleasant experience! There wasn’t much of a crowd probably due to the weather but that meant I was seated and served quite promptly. I ordered the mushroom cheddar melt with a side of the roasted corn chowder, and the coffee was kept flowing. The meal was great; so filling that I had to take half my sandwich home, but the chowder could have been a little more flavorful. Very reasonably priced and worth it for the local farm fresh ingredients. The staff is very friendly and the interior is quite clean and comfortable, even though it is in a small location on an off-street. Definitely one of the better places to eat in the area so give it a try!

The food was so delicious and the ambience was nice too. We had the burgers, some of the best I’ve ever had! And the banana oatmeal pancakes were amazing. So buttery and delicious. The service was also great. I can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful, delicious find! Everything we chose was excellent. Most of the menu was vegetarian/vegan, but in Shift’s case, meat-eaters would be happy as well. The food is savory and flavorful. The name«Shift,“refers to the owners desire to help folks shift their eating habits to a local, sustainable, more vegetable based diet–(but there is no preaching about it.) It’s BYOB with a college– focussed liquor store across the street– wine lovers might want to plan ahead.

I had read the Unilocal reviews of this place so my guy and I decided to go last Saturday evening. What a great restaurant! Every detail is so well though out, from the art work to the tables to the impeccably crafted food. «Switch» refers to switching gears on a bike, so the bicycle spoked wheel and dérailleur are main decorative themes. Friendly staff and open kitchen. Since Switch is BYOB we popped across the street and bought a six pack of craft beer. We paid a reasonable corkage fee($ 2.50) per bottle for a nice glass and attentive service. We shared three main courses: Falafel, the night’s special Tomato Pie, and Maryland Zucchini cakes. Each was excellent, but the Tomato Pie was outstanding. This was a buttery pie crust filled with roasted fresh cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, Asiago, and Parmesan cheeses. It was absolutely delicious. The Zucchini cakes were a vegetarian take on crab cakes and had a sauce spiked with Old Bay seasoning. They came with a crisp coleslaw that was a successful accompaniment. The Falafel was as good as any I have ever had(in NYC or anywhere). I ended up taking a lot of my share home but enjoyed it the next day. Small plates are an option that may work better for some. Each shared entrée arrived divided for us on separate plates. Dessert was a fresh blueberry crisp with whipped cream. The berries were as flavorful as wild Maine ones and we loved this, tool. I commend the restaurant for a successful farm-to-table menu, great cooking, friendly service, and classic jazz on the speakers.

My girlfriend and I rode the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad train from Cumberland to Frostburg recently. While in Frostburg we were looking for a good place to eat and were lucky to come across Shift. It’s a small place with a nice ambiance and great food. We had the quesadilla, and soup/salad combo. The food was great and so was the service. Also, grab the molasses cookie on your way it — it’s worth it.

Delicious. Most items were fried and served with a sauce so not sure how healthy they were but delicious and satisfying. Staff is friendly and attentive. They don’t serve alcohol but you can byob. Liquor store directly across the street. Limited Parking. Loud. No intimate conversation. But good experience. Will definitely visit again.

Finally made it to Shift for a Sunday brunch and I’m glad we did. We went with some of the less adventurous choices on the menu: I got the giant cinnamon roll with a side of bacon, my fiancé got the farmer’s breakfast. I think we were both exceptionally impressed with our food; the cinnamon roll was amazing, and, as advertised was as big as my face! Her meal which included eggs, meat, potatoes, and toast was a good amount of food for the price, and she said the potatoes were excellent. Service was great, and overall the experience is awesome. Shift is definitely unique, and you need to go in with a bit of an open mind, but in general, it was awesome. I’m looking forward to sneaking back with a bit more of an open mind and trying some of the more unique menu offerings.

Farm to table fresh! We felt right at home at this gem of a stop in the middle of our ten hour drive. The staff was friendly and inviting. The food was outstanding! We loved the bicycle theme. When we asked about it the waitress explained that the owner, Jess had just married the guy that owns Cumberland Bicycle! The name of the restaurant Shift references the bicycle theme, but also a shift in consciousness about food and the intimate connection between the land, the local people who grow & prepare the food and those of us that eat it. We were thrilled and left with happy satisfied bellies with that clean feel you have after indulging in healthy deliciousness! A nourishing, inspiring stop!

Excellent! Quaint, small town feel, great service, menu and food! So nice to have fresh, farm to table food in Frostburg! The menu includes great veggie choices and the desserts are excellent. I recommend the black bean– sweet potato quesadilla — excellent, also the falafel wrap — both very good. Save room for a cookie. The décor has a cycling theme, which is just awesome. Perfect location, with the GAP bike trail nearby, as well. Highly recommend and worth the drive up the mountain to Frostburg.

Stopped at Shift as I was passing through Frostburg as it had solid reviews on Unilocal. This place sources all their produce locally, and is all organic. Food was extremely fresh and tasty. Delicious brunch comfort food. I will definitely stop by again if around this neighborhood. Our waiter, Michael, was very excited to share the details of where the food came from, and the quality of produce they serve. Loved this quaint restaurant and wish more places like this existed elsewhere!
