One of the best choices I have ever made was coming to Frostburg State University. The entire English department is amazing, going above and beyond to help you succeed. Even after graduation, I keep in touch with many of the professors. A truly great experience.

For anyone who grew up in MD, DC, VA, WV, or parts of PA, Frostburg was notorious for being a party school and nothing more. Which yes while true, and I did my fair share of partying, it is actually a very good school. Two types of students go to Frostburg, those who go there for an education and those who see it as a four year excuse to act like an asshole. Unfortunately, the latter seems to dominate, and in turn drives away a lot of good students who end up transferring to other schools. I am a proud Frostburg graduate. I majored in Political Science there and can honestly say that the school has the best Political Science department in the state. I would pick it over UMD or Towson any day. The professors actually take the time to get to know you and you are going to get an ass kicking of knowledge. They know what they are talking about and they don’t bullshit. Yes, it is a mid sized school in a rural area, which yes leads to boredom, which yes leads to idiocy. However, as my adviser taught me, get your work done, and then go out and have a good time. Go in there with the right frame of mind, of why you are paying 40k to go there and still have a little fun. I had a great time there and made a lot of great friends. If you go into with and Old School mentality i, you are going to be in for a sad awakening, when you realize you have been there for 7 years and are nowhere close to graduating and that most of your friends are long gone and the few that are there don’t really want to be seen with you anymore.
