The Oak Grill

Reading the other reviews I guess I ordered the wrong thing. the menu is limited but understandable for small restaurant. I went for dinner and our server was great, informative, friendly and thorough. the food came quickly but then we were only one of two couples in there on a Thursday night so I can’t speak for the norm.
There is a good bit of seafood on the menu, limited to one kind of fish (salmon), which I ordered, other selections included clams, fried oysters, and scallops. I got salmon and scallops. The seafood had very little flavor, it was cooked well but flavorless. I wondered if it was just me but bf tasted the scallops and agreed. The steamed shrimp was quite good as an exception to the meal.
I’m not sure what this restaurant is trying to specialize in, it’s called a grill but the dinner fair had just one steak selection. maybe lunch is their thing? The décor was not exactly inviting, more like eating in a hospital cafeteria. As a suggestion I would paint the walls to match whatever ambiance you want to create, (energetic, relaxing, happy…) anything but hospital room white. Get some comfortable chairs, throw down some rugs. something. Just an opinion.
I’m all for supporting the locals so I’ll go again but for lunch this time…

Visited here for lunch and had a very good burger with Boardwalk fries. You have many options for toppings including ham or bacon. $ 6.95 for most sandwiches or $ 5.95 for the club. Very good value
Update, service speed was a big issue on a later visit.

We both got clubs, can’t really mess up a club but it was really good. The fries are boardwalk style. Yum! They have really good coffee and good local pie. They even called the bakery down the street because we wanted a whole pie to take to a dinner. Definitely worth a try just to support good, local people.

well… i’ll start with the good news. The food was ok. I was with a party of 7, with 2 children. We received our food 15 minutes after ordering, and overall the food was decent and at an affordable price, although my burger that was ordered medium rare was well done (no pink inside), one side of my 3 year old’s grilled cheese was burnt, and garlic bread for a few lasagna specials was burnt as well… BUT… the bad news… our server was either new on the job or extremely inefficient. It took us close to 30 minutes to actually place our order, and about 15 to get drinks (2 coffee, 3 iced tea, and the rest good ‘ol H20). Checking out took WAY longer than it should have. Overall the food was ok, I would eat here again. It was just the waitress who was almost at the point of annoyance, which really distracted from the meal.

Really good food. Great lunch specials and great prices. I love the oak club with fries only 5.95. Yummy and filling.
