My family & I didn’t really enjoy our food or experience here. The waiter was not attentive at all & we had to ask several times for drink refills. Big pet peeve. Overpriced for the amount of food you get, by far. Also, each of our meals were WAY overly spicy, both the sauces AND meats. Now I am not sure if this is the way it is supposed to be Italy, but on our particular dishes, it did NOT state that they were spicy on the menu(or we would not have ordered them) We each could barely finish our meals because of watery eyes & runny noses! Didn’t get a chance to ask our waiter about it cause he disappeared! Won’t be back, sorryyyy:-(

OK. So I’m a nice person so I’ll make this quick. This was a bad experience. Its tough for me to say this because i like to give the benefit of the doubt. Waitress was inattentive and seemed to be confused about pretty much everything. It started off good as the new owner came over and introduced herself and explained a little bit about the restaurant. Awesome right? It just went down hill after that. She had to come out a total of 2 times after that. Once to explain the long version of how she could not make make my friends meal(it took 20 minutes for her to tell us that). And the second time it was to explain, 20 minutes after that, that they had not made my friends new order choice. They just had been sitting on the order i guess? So we ended up getting our food 40 minutes into the lunch hour… NOTCOOL. My meal actually started making my stomach hurt after a couple of bites… so i just didn’t eat much of it. My tortellini was swimming in sauce and my friend’s second choice was swimming in olive oil… gross. After the manager had promised to make my friends new meal the price of the first choice. The check was wrong, which again took the waitress another 10 minutes to figure out. Mind you 1 other table was in the restaurant composed of 2 people who already had there food. I probably won’t go back for a while. The owner has definitely got some kinks to work out…

A warning to everyone, if the restaurant is empty in the middle of the lunch rush, you should probably avoid it. I wish someone had told me that before I went to Fortuna. Found this place on Unilocal and saw some positive reviews so I went with a friend of mine and was a little surprised to find the restaurant empty at about 12:30. This should have warned me off but we were(for some reason) intent on trying Fortuna. When I sat down I think it took 5 – 10 minutes to order because the waitress was very slow, and had trouble answering basic questions. I’m budgeting after over-spending already this week and so I ordered a calzone which was a respectable $ 7. It sounded great and I was really excited. My friend ordered the ‘tortellini da vinci’ which came with a salad and two delicious garlic bread rolls. The bread was really good, the salad was only so so. What irritated me the most was that about 15 minutes AFTER I ordered my food the owner, whose name is Gracie, came up and explained she had recently taken over the restaurant and that she was trying to have the stone ovens fitted for some kind of grate and that the guy had not arrived yet so they couldn’t turn on the ovens. This wouldn’t have bothered me as much if I hadn’t already spent most of my lunch hour just getting to that point. I was irritated but she offered to let me get the«create your own pasta» for the same price as the calzone(a savings of a whopping $ 2). I ordered the linguini with sausage and asked for a little bit of olive oil. I got a pool of olive oil that my pasta was sitting in. The sausage was really good, but I literally had to drain the olive oil off my plate onto my bread plate just to eat the pasta, and it was still too oily. My friend said that the ‘tortellini da vinci’ tasted funny and that her stomach was hurting. I nabbed a cheese tortellini and it was definitely the pink sauce on it that was off, it tasted bad like they had let the alfredo in it spoil, GAG. The owner came by about 5 or 6 times during our meal and it’s clear she’s terrified about running this restaurant and really wants it to do well, but the first step would be to inform your staff of limitations before you bring customers in. Personally, I won’t be back and until the«new management» gets everything under control, I’d hold off.

What a wonderful dining experience! As a former manager of an Italian restaurant(that was scooped up by Wolfgang Puck, cause he loved it!) I was super impressed with the wonderful food! The most tender Chicken Piccata I’ve ever had(and I’ve had over 200) I really couldn’t believe the low prices. I know hundreds of people who pay much more for lower caliber Italian food. I really can’t say enough about this hidden gem of a restaurant. If & when you’re in the area, I say this is a dining stop worth experiencing. FYI…This place won Frisco’s July 4th Freedom Fest«Taste of Frisco» 2010 «Best of Show» Winner! & «Best Dessert» Winner!

Let me start with the people there are very nice… and they have great personalities too! But leaving it here would be sending you out on a blind date describing how great the other person’s personality is. You can probably see where this is going, so I will provide more details. While the people were great, the food was below average. One of the waiters said that some new folks just bought the place, so it is under new ownership. That being the case, and this being our first time there means that we can’t compare it to prior reviews. Let’s start with the bill. It was $ 51(including tip) for three of us to get out of there. What we got for that $ 51 was: chicken marsala, chicken parm, and lobster ravioli plus 2 drinks. We agreed that for the price, the quality was way off. No appetizers other than the dinner salads that came with the entrees. Nothing special about them. The lettuce looked like it was pulled out of a bag in the back. The blue cheese dressing is very thick. The house tomato vinaigrette was heavy on the tomato flavor and a little on the bland side. Normally on chicken dishes for dinner, the place tosses down two breast halves to justify higher dinner prices. Not the case here. Not a huge deal as we were not starving, but still, you have expectations based on what restaurants normally do. The chicken parm was way over cooked to the point of being dry and tough. The chicken marsala was not as overcooked, but still on the overcooked side. Neither chicken choices were tender. The pasta side came with a butter garlic sauce that was OK. While this may have been a Unilocal 5 star place, it sure wasn’t tonight. We were passing through Frisco and wanted to try a new place. We wish we would have made another choice after the fact. Hopefully they improve in short order.

We were just one server away from really enjoying this non-chain Italian place in the wastelands of Frisco. It was a quiet night with only a few tables, yet the waiter simply could not bring himself to come by more than the barest minimum number of times. Fully fifteen minutes elapsed between our completing our meals and the arrival of the check. My wife cracked that he only noticed we were finished because we both whipped out our iPhones. That said, the food was generally good: the surprisingly generous portion of salmon in the Salmon Bella Dona was accompanied by crisp-tender vegetables and a salty parmesan cream sauce. My wife had the tender and juicy Pollo Valdostana and thought the ham and mushrooms rescued the cream sauce from a lack of texture. The bruschetta appetizer could have used more zip, though in fairness, we are garlic-hounds, and it might be unfair to expect a restauranteur to brave the levels of garlic we like.

A surprisingly nice little Italian place with a great menu and also pizza by the slice. It’s very nice inside even though it doesn’t look it from outside.

We stopped here after yet another visit to IKEA. It was after 9 and they closed at 10, there was maybe one other table there at the time. They didn’t seem excited at our arrival, but didn’t express it, instead seated us and served us competently. The only real complaint I had was that my salad was rather small. Perhaps they didn’t have much prepared lettuce left and spread it out on the plate. It was good, just wasn’t very much lettuce. I got a rotini with cream sauce, mushrooms and sausage dish. It was really good. Dessert options were standard restaurant fare these days, crème brûlée, cheesecake, and Tiramisu, so we passed. I’m tempted to say that it’s your average small Italian restaurant, but it was probably better than average. Since it’s not near where I live, I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit, but I would be willing to go again.

We happened on Fortuna Grill just from being super hungry after shopping at the Stone Briar mall for hours a few months ago. We reccommend this place to anyone in the area or passing through. Like other reviewers have said, don’t be turned away by the strip-mall appearance. The environment is unpretentious and welcoming, great staff, and the food is absolutely wonderful. I don’t know of any better Italian food in the DFW metroplex!

OK Italian, sloppy salads, good service, not so clean restrooms. With so many more better choices, we forget this place exists. Not kid friendly.

Don’t let the tiny, strip mall location fool you, this restaurant breaks the stereotype. My husband and I have been loyal patrons of Fortuna Grill for the last 2 years or more. We are from the Boston area where frequent trips to the North End raised our standards for Italian food. When we first moved here it was a constant battle to find good, authentic Italian food, until we accidentally stumbled across Fortuna Grill. This is the best Italian food we have found outside the North End, period– no contest. My personal favorite at Fortuna are the meatballs on anything, pasta or sandwich– they are authentic and fresh– not frozen. The sauces are delicious and authentic also. We love the ravioli delicate, one of us always orders it. My husband has sampled almost everything on the menu and raves about it all. We haven’t had a disappointing dish yet and we go twice a month. This is the place we take family when they visit because the food is so good, they would be insulted by the taste of Italian food at any other restaurant. The pizza is also great, we get that delivered. Fortuna is very affordable at lunch, the prices go up a little at night. We have only seen it crowded once, but they were offering a coupon at the time.

One of the best affordable italian restaurants. Always friendly staff, great food. Best pasta fagoli soup I’ve had outside Italy. Best central Italy dishes. On a recent visit, i tried the veal sorrentina. Came with sphagetti with olive oil and garlic and the veal was perfect. Covered with proscuitto and a great sauce. Large chunks of garlic, cooked perferct. I have had things here I didn’t like but it wasn’t that the food was bad, but it was just foods I didn’t like. My favorite dish is the frutti de mare. Always great. Only drawback is their closed on Mondays.
