I went to Friendswood Women for a well woman exam a couple of weeks ago. The office building was really nice. I saw the nurse practitioner and she was kind, gentle, and professional. She took her time to discuss birth control options with me and answer all of my questions. I decided to have my existing IUD removed and a new one put in. Upon leaving my well woman exam, I asked the front desk worker to please call and verify my insurance coverage for the procedure before I scheduled my appointment. I was assured that my insurance would cover it, but they said they would verify benefits and call me if there were any issues. I show up for my appointment yesterday and sign in. I asked the receptionist to make sure that my insurance coverage for this particular procedure had been verified. She told me that she had been meaning to do it, and hadn’t had a chance, but would do it right away. After waiting a while, I was told that my insurance company wouldn’t pay for any of it and I needed to pay 100% out of pocket before they could do it. I really wanted to just leave, but I knew it would be really hard to coordinate my husband taking another half day from work and find childcare for my kids, etc, so I just decided to stay. So, I paid several hundred dollars on the spot and then had to go wait forever in the waiting room. When I was finally called back to a room and Dr. Shamburger came in, she mentioned that she had a patient at the hospital waiting on a c-section(which I took to mean that she felt she was in a hurry). I really try to be positive and give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure Dr. Shamburger is a really nice person, but I felt like she was frustrated and a little impatient with me, and wasn’t particularly gentle, either. I left the office in tears.

Average office. Front staff is a bit dull and physician is not as sympathetic as other OBGYN docs that I’ve encountered with. Glad my pregnancy term is over and will most likely try another place.

Loved Dr. Shamburger and referred ALL of my friends to her until today. I called because I needed to see her asap with a very concerning problem(that other doctors considered an emergency appointment) but she offered me an appointment 3WEEKSAWAY! I am in severe pain and can’t even sit without pause and I am offered 3 weeks to grin and bare it. On top of that I have set three appointments with her in the past to which she canceled due to other patients going into labor which made me see other doctors for my well woman exams, and to top that off they have a service that calls you when it’s time to your yearly exam and it literally HARRASES you with calling you at least one a week to «remind» you to set an appointment until you do… you know… a one-time email would suffice. I called them to get the calls to stop and they said I had to set an appointment to get them to stop!!!
