Nobody wants to think about senior/assisted living space or nursing homes. I recently visited a family friend over Thanksgiving weekend at another facility, and it really made me sad at how these wonderful human beings were lined up in wheelchairs and treated as «just another body». Personally I would not place my parents there if given the choice or resources. So Landmark of Fridley. It opened up this past fall, and I was given a tour prior to its grand opening. Three floors, private rooms, and as you can see by some of the pictures I’ve posted, nice living areas. Some of the kitchens with granite countertops are nicer than my own kitchen! Most units have their own state-of-the-art washer and dryers, and most, if not all, have flat screen TVs. The only downside is there’s one elevator, and the dining area is on the second floor. It must be a nightmare for staff and residents during rush hour. While not in a glamorous neighborhood, it appears to be safe, and there are a lot of amenities for the residents. And a review on Unilocal wouldn’t be complete without talking about food. For those who are unable or do not want to cook for themselves, the Director of Food Services is doing a fantastic job trying to have a creative menu for the residents, giving them healthy options and a variety of menu items.
