Ax-​man is a place to go if you have some time kill and money to burn! I usually go in thinking I’m looking for one thing and leave an hour later with 10 things I never knew I wanted. Besides the odd and unusual, they stock electronic components, springs, production overstocks and misruns and much more! Their stock changes all the time so it is worth while to stop back once and a while to see what they have on hand.
Perhaps the best part of the experience are the displays. The staff are hilariously creative in coming up with ways to use the products. In fact the staff tend to be cooler and hipper than the rest of us and have the uncanny ability to pick an awesome shopping soundtrack. They add greatly to the Ax-​Man experience.
I highly recommend Ax-​Man for the hobbiests, hipsters, and those looking for a great shopping experience!

I’ve been shopping here for years! It’s DIY crafter meets MacGyver. It’s fantastic. It’s all crap, but not useless crap. It’s all the things you need but didn’t know you needed. I love the signage the most. It’s important to shop there with an open mind. If you want something specific, you may be disappointed. You will always leave there a little more cheerful, and carrying lots of goodies!

Super fun place! Lots of doodads and all kinds of other random stuff to really get your creative juices flowing. And one of the friendly helpful workers even knew some sign language! That’s always a big plus!

This is my second-​favorite of the Ax-​Man locations, after the unbeatable original on University Ave. Certainly the age of the store (and attendant decorations & dust) make it a must-​see in the Twin Cities. Well organized, with some entertaining signs. Don’t miss the Bridge on the wall or the alligator (?) carousel pony.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Ax-​Man on a trip to Minneapolis in search of a 5V adapter, and while I was not entirely successful I must admit it was one of the coolest and unconventional stores I have been in in some time. Imagine if the Mythbusters workshop was at your disposal, all at incredibly low prices.

I love that this place has so much great crap at such low prices! I mean seriously, where can I pick up those old time lanyard that double as a storage container for only 75 cents?
I always wanted to start my own chem lab using the glassware there. Oh, the possibilities!
