Generally decent. Gyros were good though I have never had a Gyros with pickles instead of onions. Better for my breath I suppose but not authentically Greek. Wife’s Greek salad very good. Grilled cheese kid’s meal a big hit from a five year old expert in the field.

Combo plate best of what our group of 6 ate. Gyros barely adequate and burgers ok. Fries very good, indoor ambiance terrible. View good if it wasn’t raining.

The food was really good and I love that they have a good amount of vegan options. That said, I have to leave off a star because I called ahead of time to ask if they allowed dogs on the outside patio. I was told it would be okay, but when we got there it turned out that the man I had spoke with hadn’t meant that dogs were allowed on the same patio where we would be eating. He wanted us to tie up our two small dogs outside of the outdoor seating area and said that we could just watch them through the window. Bummer. I don’t get what the big deal is about having dogs with you if you are eating outside anyway. Granted, it’s a covered patio but it’s still open to the outside! So, we had to order our food to go and eat at a nearby park. While we were waiting for our food, another man walked up with a dog hoping they would be dog-friendly, just as we had hoped. Once he found out that they weren’t, he turned right back around and left. Maloula only had one couple eating there when we went, so I think it’s sad that they are losing business over their strict dog policy.

Maloula is our favorite Friday Harbor restaurant, great Mediterranean food with several vegetarian choices. This trip, we started with the Zaatar, a great new dish to us. I had the grilled eggplant, with a spicy tomato sauce. My wife had the felafel, which I thought was the best we’ve ever had. The outdoor seating has an awesome view of the marina, but cool when there’s a breeze. The indoor seating is hole-in-the-wall and warm. The waitress was very friendly, although our water glasses sat empty for quite a while at the end of the meal.

Th food is good. I had a Gyro and it was much better than the typical gyro. The family that runs the place is very friendly. Th falafel sandwich was also very good. Finding the place was a bit difficult through because there was no sign. Call the up to get directions.

Decent food. 1) We had falafel dinner… Falafel was crispy on the outside and well spiced. The pita bread was also fresh and flavorful. However, the portion size were small compared to $ 18 for the falafel dinner. 2) Awesome view of the marina from the second floor. The chill factor for outside seating was well taken care of by the ample number of heaters. 3) We thought we saw an insect in the food, but the cook came out and explained that it was dried mint. hmmm.

Had a great dinner here while on vacation in Friday Harbor. The dining area has a wonderful covered outdoor area with the best view of the Harbor. It was a little chilly when we were there but they had heat lamps out for the people who had not thought to bring coats while sitting outside in September in the Northwest! Food was good, Arak was great ;-)

PROS: 1. Decent food. We each had gyros. I had lamb and the bf had falafel. The gyros were just big enough to fill us up. 2. Great view. The restaurant is on the top floor of some building, and every seat has a view of the water. We ate on the huge balcony cause the day was gorgeous. 3. Cute, attentive waiter(for all you single ladies). CONS: Maybe just a little over-priced. $ 9 for a gyro. I get the same gyro with more flavor, a side of fries, and a drink for less money in Seattle. But, it is a touristy spot, so oh wells.

First time visiting Friday Harbor and definitely not my last. The guy at the Chamber of Commerce recommended Maloula and my friends were skeptical, until he said, «The owner is from Syria, they know what they’re doing.» My friends made reservations and they had our table ready 10 minutes before our reservation time. Great service, no? The waiter was so nice and had complete knowledge of the menu. We had Hummus to start, love their pita bread(perfect amount for 3 people). I had the Lamb Kabob, my friend had the Greek Salad, and my other friend had the Maloula Scampi. We loved our dishes, I loved mine, especially, it was filling, flavourful, and delicious! It’s seasonal, so get over there, what are you waiting for?

Another solid 4.5 on my first visit to Friday Harbor! Maloulas is tucked away between two buildings, but we found it on a recommendation from our hotel. After a 12 mile bike ride around the island, us four ladies were ravenous and this place more then delivered! Home made hummus with warm, soft pitta bread and tabouleh were out of this world, so fresh, flavorful and aromatic. My lamb gyro was very tasty, although I have never seen a gyro served with pickles, but I still enjoyed it. My friends ordered lamb and chicken souvlaki and they were outstanding with a yummy yogurt sauce. Very friendly service and the deck had a beautiful view of the Harbor.

Tucked away behind the alehouse, this little restaurant beckoned us with vegetarian & vegan options, and rooftop seating. It was incredible! The atmosphere inside isn’t great, but outside it was warm and the view was lovely! Our hummus, falafel, and black bean burger were good, as was the red lentil soup! They have a large bar selection, with wine and some good local-ish beers on tap as well. Looking forward to trying them out for dinner!

The finest food I have EVER had! The bread, the hummus, the falafel, the tabouli, the lamb, EVERYTHING was fresh, warm and delicious. The food + the ambiance = excellence! Absolutely perfect.

I had a fantastic dinner at Maloula’s. I went with 3 girlfriends, and we sat out on the deck and watched the activity in the harbor, and stayed toasty warm with the individual space heaters, and the dangerously good pomegranate martinis. Adnan, the owner, was completely charming and he made us a delicious meal. We shared hummus, tabouli, falafel, and kibbeh, and everything was incredibly tasty. And the curry lentil soup is not to be missed. The perfect spot to enjoy the ambiance of Friday Harbor. They sell their hummus at The Market in Anacortes too, so I can always get a fix at home! Hooray!

I would give this 4.5 stars if I could. If you are looking for a nicer ambiance, then consider it 4 stars. But, if you are looking for wonderfully flavorful food in a family run atmosphere then consider it 5 stars. We went to this place for dinner, and we were very impressed with the food and service. Both the Baba Ganouch appetizer and the pita that came with it were fine. Nothing great, but nothing terrible. After that, however, everything was excellent. They gave us their complimentary curry soup, and it was out of this world. I can honestly say that I have never had soup this good in my life… and considering that I am now 40, that is a lot of soup that has passed through my lips. :) Then, our main courses arrived. The first was the Maloula Scampi: this had an incredibly satisfying mix of flavors. If you like the individual flavors in this meal(shrimp, onions, garlic, pine nuts, shitake mushrooms, hummus), you are going to LOVE them as they mix themselves together in this dish. The second was the Moroccan Eggplant. I have never had eggplant cooked to such perfection before. It was cooked so perfectly, it transcended the very archetype of eggplant that I had created in my mind. This dish provided a wonderful combination of flavors. I had two glasses of wine, which were also quite good. It is a family run restaurant, which we both enjoyed. And they were very accommodating with individual heat lamps on their patio. NOTE: there are only two tables on the patio that are directly overlooking the harbor. Call ahead to reserve one of those two tables.

Most of us would likely classify the fare here as «Greek/Mediterranean» — but to be specific, it is Syrian! The owner of Maloula is Syrian, and from Maloula — a beautiful city there. If you inquire, the owner will tell you all about Maloula(he still visits every year) and due to interest from patrons, he actually leads tours there, as well! He has plenty of literature for you to peruse and learn about Syria before your meal comes — which was great for our large and unwieldy party of 8. We started out the meal with two bottles of wine, one of which was quite remarkable — the Hinman Pinot Noir. Inexpensive and really bright berry flavor! Definitely going to keep my eye out for that one at the store. The meal was also preceded by little cups of red lentil soup which was very fragrant with spices, and really delicious. Everyone was very pleased with their choices — they ran the gamut from rack of lamb, lamb kebabs, kibbeh(a meatloaf type dish), and a vegetarian eggplant dish. Although my eggplant dish wasn’t quite a «spicy» as I thought it was going to be(cayenne was touted as one of the ingredients in the sauce), it still tasted good — very simple and healthy and accompanied by some lovely couscous. It’s still a bit chilly outside even though it was sunny when we were there, so we sat inside — but the view from the deck is gorgeous. You are only a block away from the ferry dock so it makes it easy to get back to the ferry on time!

Just OK, mostly outdoor seating. Closed in the winter. This place has been for sale forever — not sure that it is anymore.
