While I think this is the best pizza on the island: best crust, best cheese, I really don’t like their spicy sauce. The sauce works well on a cheese or pepperoni pizza, but it really overpowers the mushroom pizza and the artichoke and goat cheese pizzas. All I could taste was spice. I think if they lightened up a bit on the chili flakes it would be pretty close to perfect. I love their fresh baked breads($ 7 ea) but their desserts are too dry for my taste. I go to café Demeter for sweet things. Also, I wish they had later hours so I could pick up and enjoy a fresh pie at dinner time.

Yum, love this bakery, thy even have starter to give away at times. You get what you pay for on the island. Perceived value is the trend however, it costs more for food on the island. get used to it. You will have an easier time if you understand EVERYTHING is shipped in. There is a better chance to have happy service when it is not tourist season. Once you live there you understand the two edged sword of the tourist trade. It can be really hard on the islanders.

I stopped in at closing this evening. They were happy to let me in and heated an awesome slice of pizza for me. The oven was already off but still plenty hot. Bakery San Juan is a very worth while stop. Great food and awesome crew to help you. Some of the best artesian bread ever. Defiantly the best pizza I have ever eaten. I eat there often as do many locals.

Soooo very good! I had the potato pizza and it was delicious! It’s right next to the Co-op which you should check out as well. Their bread looked and smelled amazing too!

Even if you have the best baked goods in all the land(the pizza was okay and not worth the price, imho) – if you have rude staff, it sadly ruins the entire experience. No thanks.

Great little place, stopped in for a slice, ended up with a molasses oatmeal cookie too! I went with the potato pizza, both items I got were delicious. Plan to stop in before boarding the ferry to stock up on baked goods!

Delicious, amazing in flavor and texture of both bread and brownies. The price is a bit high but reasonable for the high quality on a touristy island. My husband grumbles about my baked goods obsession taking us off track, but as soon as he had his first slice of bread, he agreed that this purchase was worth it.

We had a generous gift certificate for San Juan Bakery as a birthday gift, so got to try muffins, cinnamon rolls, cookies and brownies. My favorite is the cinnamon rolls. This bakery is a popular place. They have beautiful cakes. Left off the 5th star only because they sell out of baked goods fairly early in the day. But it looks like you could call ahead and order, will remember that for the next trip to Friday Harbor. There are people waiting at the door before opening in the morning, so get there early!

This place is the bomb. Seriously. They have AMAZING pizza. Crunchy chewy crust, well thought out in ingredients, and delicious. Potato, carmelized onions, sausage and delicious cheeses. Even simple pepperoni. Go when its fresh, but second best, is that the local markets sell the frozen pies in the freezer section, and wham bam, out of your oven they are also super delicious! In a 2 week stay on San Juan, we came back twice. This is not a traditional, boring Pizza Hut style pizza — this is the real deal, artisanal quality, excellent toppings, and enjoy with a good glass of wine or craft beer. Their other baked goods were delicious too. We got their sourdough at the Farmer’s Market — that is also a «must attend» event. I live in the SF Bay Area, and this bakery would be an easy favorite back home. The co-op next door is also a good shopping stop. Go. You will crave these pizzas.

Loved the Island Pepperoni pizza — words fail me! And, oh my good lord, the Giovanni bread is so amazing! Best deal on the island.

Incredible desserts! Try the key lime pie. Cookies are terrific, enjoyed the bread too. Quite an island find.

Great varied pizza, by the slice or the whole pie. Slices are cut in two pieces and heated up. Tasty toppings. A great place to get a light lunch or dinner, a good alternative to sit down restaurants in Friday Harbor.

This is a good as it gets in Friday Harbor for pizza(whole or by the slice), tarts, brownies, carrot cake and some breads. I asked what made the pizza crust the perfect mix of chewy, crisp, and tender: lots of love a great ingredients, she began, and then added we mix three kinds of flour(white, whole wheat, and rye) and use a special wild yeast. It’s tough finding a crust this good anywhere in Seattle. The baguette-like loaf was hand made and delicious. I asked why they were closed on the weekends and she said that they needed to have lives too. I felt like I was in the Old World, both for quality and values. Can’t wait to get back.

Better customer service than pizza. After being on the island for a few days and receiving plentiful good feedback about this place, we wanted to give it a try. We drove into Friday Harbor after an afternoon of activities just 8 minutes before they closed. We gave them a call, assuming it would be too late to order a pizza. Apparently it was not, and they were glad to whip up something for us. Being from the Chicagoland area, I have a strong pizza-bias engrained in my taste buds. However, I feel like I would say the pizza was nothing to write home about had I been from anywhere else… It was just okay; nothing I would need to come back to on a second visit here. The crust was spongy soft; the cheese was overly strong in flavor; and the sauce was barely there! I’m not saying they serve bad pizza, but its not my type of pizza. I will hand it to them, though: my hubs enjoyed it, complimented the sauce, and reasoned it was better than the pizza place we went the night before. Nice people. Maybe I’ll try the cheesecake next time to show my appreciation of their customer service…

I eat a lot of cookies. We wandered into this place during a day trip to Friday Harbor. The smell is an amazing anticipatory hint of what comes next. This was the best oatmeal molasses cookie ever– as I said I have eaten a lot of cookies in 66 years. Also tried a dinner roll to sample the breads. Excellent. Very close to sufficient grounds to move here.

Looking for a place to get a quick bite when we arrived at Friday Harbor. The cashier at the market recommended Bakery San Juan for gourmet pizzas. Small cabin structure at the end of the airport runway with lots of parking. The place is really small, but the atmosphere is friendly. Most of the customers were regulars and were quick to recommend their favorites. We had 3 slices heated to go(they slice it in half so you actually get 2 regular slices). Loved the pizza with mushrooms — you won’t find meats on their pizzas! The bakery also offers bread(including challah), pies and cheesecake… will have to go back to try more!

Top marks to San Juan bakery’s pizza. Its delicious dough complements fresh ingredients. Stands up against some of my favorite pies in NYC.

Totally worth the walk up the hill, and over to the airport. We had a humungous and perfectly baked cinnamon roll. They bake them individually so they have a gently crisp crust, the risen sweet dough — pillowy to the center. Just the right amount of cinnamon filling, and just enough glaze to make it finger lickin’ good — not goopy at all. Great drip coffee.(Need an espresso drink? Just grab one on the way there.) And is it a lovely sunny morning? Enjoy your goodies in the front porch and watch the airplanes take off and land. Oh, and even if you get there the second they open, you won’t be the only one.

When I came to San Juan Islands, I was disappointed at the quality of food. Exploring Friday Harbor, I saw nothing but fried commercialized foods. Nothing local, nothing organic, nothing of quality. I discovered Bakery San Juan while on a late evening bike ride with my boyfriend. They were closed so my boyfriend and I came back the next day for lunch. My boyfriend tried two different pizza slices and I had the veggie sandwich. Everything was delicious, he thought so too. I ordered two rolls to go and we enjoyed it with hummus that we bought next door. Everyone inside the bakery was SUPER nice and not awkward, because the other businesses here at Friday Harbor were beyond awkward, and the people too. Whats up with that? I miss my beloved Phoenix, but this bakery was really refreshing and totally Phoenix-like. I absolutely loved it.

Legit rustic bakery. Super high quality, easy to grab slices. I’d eat this constantly if I lived here, without hesitation. On a scale of Portland, OR pies where I is from, this here would rate at the top end of the spectrum for shiz. I’d be surprised if there’s a better quality to price ratio on the Island than this. In fact, if I had a time machine, I would definitely erase the fried fish sandwich I had from Blue something or other yesterday and fill that calorie void with more of this a gazillion times over until the end of time… and back again.
