Tacos El Grullo

Nice décor and atmosphere. Clean. Quickly greeted upon arrival. Live Mariachi band on Friday night. Great surprise for a modest looking restaurant from the outside. It was cold outside yet a comfortable temperature inside. Prompt service, fast food, delicious and good service.

I usually go there for «hump day» 2 for 1 tacos. Best $ 1.50 tacos and even better in Wednesday when they’re 2 for 1. Service is good and the cooks are fast. I have a half hour lunch and I always have time to drive up, order, and eat. I just never have enough time to eat the Burrito Mojado because there is too much to eat in that half hour, but it is delicious.

I can’t seem to break away from the tacos… my usual has become 1 taco de lengua, 1 taco de chile verde. I usually try to give my input on the other dishes since I’m picky about Mexicans food. Granted, I am Mexican and know how to cook a lot of those dishes… however, I work and I’m a student. Sandwich that between a little bit of lazy so, I end up here being judgey. I haven’t kicked the taco habit yet, but, I tried the molcajete mixto with the salsa verde. Delicious. Their nopales asados… a must. Order it as a side dish. It’s great. Just come here, love the food, embrace the atmosphere. It’s a fun place. Don’t let the surrounding area deter you, please. This place deserves business. We always end up here on their karaōke nights, can’t wait to bring my momma and sing some Juan Gabriel! Heehee!

Had a Mixto Molcajete was very good lots of flavor cooked to perfection homemade corn tortillas!!! Will be coming back for sure sevices was very fast. Ppl in an out of the place

Good environment and live music the micheladas are good other than that food not the greatest, not coming back.

My favorite Mexican restaurant. I could be very critical with Mexican food because I am Mexican. I love the ceviche and Molcajete dish. Customers service is always awesome. Great to bring the kids, clean, very friendly, reasonably priced.

The greasy menudo and the unimpressive chicken salad lowers the rating to two stars.

Guine Pigged my son on this place, he said it was great. So took the whole fam, it was very good.
Fish tacos are great! Ice cold beer! Shrimp cocktail! Mmmmmmm…

Service was great and with a smile. The shrimp tostada was not good. I think the shrimp was spoiled. The wet burrito was pretty tasty.

This authentic Mexican eatery offers the all of the south of the border regulars along with a few off the off the beaten path pescado dishes. I chose the nachos with carnitas as you can learn a lot about a Mexican restaurant by the chips and their pork items. I will rate the pork high but their chips missed the mark by a long shot. They were fresh but nothing more than dumped from a bag. It was karaōke night. I was the only gringo by a long shot. It’s worth a try but stay away from the chips unless they are offered for free.

Change of ownership sign on the door. I walked in the door and was immediately asked is this To Go or dine in. I sat down and was served some chips and salsa. My drink order was taken and then i was served a bowl of frijole con queso, which was very good. Right now they have a great lunch special for $ 6.99 with a drink. This includes about a dozen dishes including Chili Verde, Burrito Mojado and Nachos. I tried the Chili Verde special and it was very tasty with lots of pork and verde sauce.
The actual name is Tacos y Mariscos El Grullo and they have a variety of seafood dishes and shrimp cocktails which all looked good. Next time I am gonna try the Micheladas, which looked very refreshing with the shrimp, tomato juice, spices and a bottle of beer stuck on the top of it.
Overall service was good, but can get backed up at lunch time because of the To Go business that the staff must take care. Recommendation; get someone to handle the counter traffic.

So I just left this place, service was horrible. I got there around 1:20 — 1:30pm went to the front counter to order a kitchen worker asked me of I was going to dine in, I said yes and he told me to go ahead and sit down the waitress will get your order. So I grabbed a menu and sat down, looked over the menu and decided on what I wanted mind you a good ten minutes have gone by none of the 2 waitress had made contact with me yet, a older mexican lady that looked like she had been a waitress for a good time now since it looked like she knew what she was doing. And a younger mexican girl looking kind of new since she was everywhere looking lost. Finally the younger one comes and gets my order, 2 shrimp ceviche tostadas, she then says she would bring my chips and salsa. In my opinion that should have been on the table the moment she came to get my order. but whatever I’ve worked in the restaurant business before I know how it is. she brings my water with a straw, I open the straw put it in relax and a fucking fly lands on the tip of my straw! Ha I dint even bother asking for a new one, I herd the bell ring saw my food on the counter sitting. finally the older waitress had to bring me my food, still no chips and salsa, I’m eating and eating my hands got dirty I looked up looking for a napkin, and guess what! No napkins! The older waitress saw me do that and she yelled at the other one to bring some but yet again she never came and the older waitress brought me some. I had to finish my food fast because I had to come back to work. Never got my chips and salsa! Get up to the line to pay and guess who is behind the counter! The younger waitress! And she is taking forever with everyone there was a good 4 people ahead of me! I got up to pay at 145 since I figured It would take me 5 min to pay and get to my car and leave the parking lot in 5 minutes. but nope! She took a very long time and I was 5 minutes late for work! Service today was horrible considering my tostadas where very good. I would have asked for a discount but I would have prob been 20 mon late for work! Till next time.

I have four children that absolutely love their breakfast burritos. We always spend between $ 40 & $ 60 each visit; family of 6. When I asked for the burritos, the chef said no and was rude. The poor waitress was so embarrassed she didn’t know where to hide. I was concerned about what he would do to our food. I think it was okay but I told him we wouldn’t be returning. He didn’t think I was serious but I am. Kids weren’t happy and neither was I. The food is okay. They have karaōke and would not recommend anyone to go if you value your hearing. The MiCheladas are decent and the waitresses bust their butt. Like I said, food is ok but you can find better Mexican food somewhere else. Don’t bother going because you won’t catch me dead in there unless the chef changes his attitude.

AWFUL! A few of my friends and I were craving tacos and went here. Big mistake. The waitress was unpleasant and practically rushed us into ordering even though we weren’t all ready. It wasn’t even packed, there was only us and one other man. The waitress criticized me for simply wanting a glass of water and was trying to pressure me into ordering a soda after repeatedly saying no thank you. The menu was predominantly in Spanish, which I don’t speak, and I had to get my friends to help translate the menu. If you’re white or just don’t speak Spanish, there’s a Taco Bell further up the road. The food was okay, I’ve had much better. It was really dry and bland. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, including the people I dislike. Just an awful waste of money.

El Grullo never disappoints! They have great authentic Mexican food. Tacos are amazing! Burritos are big and filling. Quesadillas are a little different than your typical quesadilla but these are incredible! Recently tried the nachos and I loved them! Freshly made chips! I love the taco specials and the variety of items available! The drive thru is also very convenient and fast. Great salsas available as well. Somehow I end up here at least once a week… I love it!

Freakin awesome California burrito the guy was super nice as well. Their sauce is amazing we definitely will go back and definitely will recommend to all our friends thank you so much.

Stopped in by chance. It happened to be taco Wednesday. My wife had a shrimp cocktail. The cocktail was good, I just found it strange that they put celery in it, which I don’t like. I had the tacos and had 4 different meats. I would have to say the Asada was the best, and it REAL Asada not that ground beef chuck most taco joints now serve. Salsa was great. I grew up in SoCal, any tacothusiest from SoCal knows of king taco. This salsa was dam near close to theirs. I will definitely be back to explore their menu.

My boss usually gets us breakfast burritos on Friday from this place. They make it to order. And always delicious. Today I came for a quick lunch. I got a torta of tripas (cause I LOVE tripas). It was delicious.
Usually some places have torta’s with either hard bread or soggy bread. They put just the right ingredients. It wasn’t super messy like other places. Overall I was impressed. Chased it down with a michelada and I was ready for a nap. Props to this place. Open area. Plenty of seating. Compared to Don Pepe. I will come here more often for lunch

Stopped in for their 2 for 1 tacos and was disappointed.
Ordered a cabeza taco and al pastor Toco and both needed more seaoning… Very bland.
Don’t think I am coming back.

If you’re going to have Tacos in your name, you better make damn good Tacos. After saying that, I will say there’s lots of Catering trucks that make Tacos that are much better than this place in the Fresno area, The problem is that there’s not too much to them and the Carne Asada was a bit chewy.
They have 2 for 1 tacos on Wednesday’s and Sundays. In my opinion they should use the ingredients in 2 tacos to make one good one and get better meat. The price for one taco is 1.49 and not worth it.
I also ordered a Tostada ($ 3.75) and that tasted real good. The problem was Tostada shell was way, way to thin, and broke very easily. I like to pick up my Tostada and eat it. This wouldn’t be a problem if you just used a fork to eat it. But if you’re like me its much better as a finger (s) food meal.
The one thing you will notice after first walking in, is that’s is real hot in here. Its still winter time, the temp was 77 °F outside and I was very comfortable with a lightweight hoodie I had on in the car and outside, but once walking in here, I had to quickly remove my hoodie. I couldnt imagine what summer would be like when the temp is like 110F+
Will I go back? I would not go out of my way to go here. If I was in the area, I would try their burritos before completely ruling them out.
I’m giving this place Three Stars, as there’s lots of ways for improvement.
