I have been to Smuggler’s 4 times since it reopened. I’ve had wonderful food(especially the salmon with avocado salsa) and great service. They made our Thanksgiving special by staying open when they were ready to close. The place is empty. Fresno, you are missing an old gem reincarnated. Ann L.

The hotel buffet selection was pitiful. I don’t understand how you can mess up oatmeal… It’s just water and oats but clearly they believe in a TON of water. I was not pleased nor satisfied.

The food was decent but the service kept disappearing No one was at the hostess station — phone was ringing a whiles– but no show — went and had dinner in the bar. Cobb salad was excellent — really fresh ingredients. But later the bartender disappeared Staffing issues? But the Olympics were on.

Ask for Pattie. She’s awesome! Was forced to stay in Fresno an extra day because of mechanical failure on the plane. American Airlines put me up in a hotel and this restaurant was a part of it. The drinks were great! The food only okay. The flip side of that is the Patti, both server and bartender, was A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

Order a rib eye steak and the quality of the food tasted like Denny’s. It didn’t taste or looked like a rib eye steak. The steak was very thin and I request medium rare and it was more of a medium well. Their wine glass was not the best choice either.

I enjoy happy hour here. Tasty little tacos and cheap margaritas(on the rocks) that pack a little punch. The service is always prompt and friendly too and the mid century modern lounge atmosphere they have going on in here is nice and cozy. You can catch a little buzz and get nice and full too on 15 bucks. Not too shabby if you ask me.

Good food. Touch on the pricey side. Proximity to Park Inn made it an easy choice.

This is a review for their Thanksgiving meal. I knew it was not going to be the Tenya lodge when it came to the surroundings so I am not including this in the star count. I was expecting a bit better food however. Let me now take you on a journey of the food. It was a small buffet but exactly what is needed on Thanksgiving. A turkey, prime rib, potatoes, stuffing, salad, desserts, chicken dish and sweet potatoes. Nothing was horrible yet nothing was outstanding other than the very rare piece of prime rib I was given(that the rest of the table complained about). The rare prime rib moved to WELLDONE on the next roast. Ugh! Down a star. Come on, use a meat thermometer and get it out of the oven at rare to medium rare then let the sitting make it a bit more cooked. The turkey was boneless, which was easy for cutting but looked messy. Also, I asked for dark meat and had to ask for it three times. There was no fish or smoked salmon just some cut cheese that was nothing special. For dessert there was a station to make cherries jubilee and bananas foster. Problem, ice cream was a melty mess and it took forever to cook the items. I would have hated being at the end of the line. I believe there could have been a better use of this cooking space.(Perhaps to pan sear prime rib for those who need it cooked more… one can never un-cook meat.) Would I return? Sure just because I did not arrive at my destination car sick nor got sick on the way home like I have when going to Tenya.

Brunch before the family and I left Fresno was eaten here. I have to say. it was really really good. It’s an older looking lounge. nothing hip and modern. looks like somewhere all the older folks go to hang out and spend a nice quiet evening. but then again. what do I really know?! Anyway. the buffet is pretty small. just a small selection of breakfast foods. and high-end-ish lunch foods. I had scrambled eggs. sausages. mashed potatoes and some herby gravy chicken thing that was really, really good. They had a carving station with roast beef and ham. and they had a bananas foster station where a chef would prepare it for you as you watch. They had desserts and fruits and some seafood. I enjoyed it a lot. and it kept me nice and full for the long car ride back home. The service was great. they kept the orange juice, water and coffee flowing. and were quick to clear out empty plates. This is definitely somewhere I’d spend Sunday brunch again if I found myself in Fresno.

At an overnight stay in Fresno four points, we decided to head down to the local hotel restaurant… reluctantly. Everything else seemed to be closed early in Fresno and it was only 8:30pm. The menu was the same traditional café fare and only offered a glimmer of hope in it’s appetizer sample. To no avail it was nothing special. Thanks for the memories Fresno…
