Decent, clean, and friendly. This is the typical Chinese fast food like a Panda. The food was flavorful and fresh, and the portions were fair for the price.

I was in the mood for Chinese food and remembered that the Oriental Express was at a food gallery downtown. I was greeted as soon as I entered, very nice. I decided on a small combo, which included fried rice, chow mein, and broccoli shrimp, and a Dr Pepper. The shrimp was cooked thoroughly and my broccoli was crisp. My noodles were soft, and I can tell that they were not sitting under a heat lamp, because they were definitely not dry. The rice was fluffy, but I wish it was a bit more sticky, because I had a difficult time grabbing good bits with my chopsticks. The prices were decent, and the facility was clean. Very tasty lunch.

It’s really hard to find cheap and healthy fast food but this place has it. I ordered the lunch special for 5.99 and received a really big size portion of brown rice, veggies, and chicken. They have other more savory options as well. I went with my friend and she really enjoyed her orange chicken. The workers there were very friendly as well. I’ll definitely be coming back.

This review is for the spring rolls only(I don’t like take out Chinese). The spring rolls are delicious, hand made to order, and the perfect size. I get them every couple of weeks. The chicken is by far the best, but the veggie and shrimp are also very good. I think there’s a ham one(maybe), but I’ve never tried it. And the staff here are all very sweet, particularly the couple that owns the place.

This restaurant has great cuisine, and is managed by great people. We started ordering here many years ago, when they were at a different location, in Clovis. Now we drive all the way across town to get their great food. Thank you to the owners for doing such a great job! I highly recommend this excellent restaurant.

«Not a total Betty but a vast improvement,“definitely describes Oriental Express(OE). Before my most recent visit this would have been a 1 – 2 star review but they have made great improvements. First, the customer service has improved. The last time I visited OE there was pure silence outside of me telling the server what I wanted on my plate. This time around I noticed everyone was very conversational and smiling. They appeared to have regular customers that they were laughing and joking with. This change made for a much better environment. Second, OE changed their location. Before they were located in Sierra Vista Mall and it was a total ghost town. I promise to Bob I think I saw a tumbleweed blow past me when I was there. However, at this new location Downtown they had lots of customers and as I mentioned before they appeared to have regular customers and a steady stream of business. Their new building is located near the Fresno Grand Opera and pretty up to date. Lastly, there’s the food. I still was not a huge fan of the food because it was really bland and kind of greasy. The food was the same the last time I visited and it has not improved much. I was just not a fan. I will give OE props on stepping up their game in atmospere, customer service and location. A few tweeks to their food and they could easily be a 5 star establishment.

Not sure why this place is rated so highly, I found it pretty mediocre. But good atmosphere and friendly service.

While the owners are super sweet their food is okay. Veggies are really soft. Like really really soft. I think a good way to resolve that is to undercook the veggies knowing they’ll be sitting on top of a warmer. That’s my only problem.

A lot of 5 star reviews, for some very mediocre Chinese fast food? Service is friendly, the prices are cheap and the lunch hour line moves fast… but the food is barely on par to Panda Express in my opinion. Beef broccoli had that mushy feeling and the orange chicken was OK, but tasted like it has been in the food warmer for too long. I do think I’ll come back to try their famous spring rolls. There was also not a lot of variety of items here as well which kinda sucked, but oh well.

I love this place! I wish they were open 7 days a week though. The best thing on the menu are the spring rolls for me… they are hand made with very fresh veggies and your choice of meat and the sauce they serve it with is amazing. I usually get there late when they’re all out, so I get the Chinese food which is also very delicious. I love that they have brown rice as an option. Very health conscious/environmentally conscious place. The green tea is also very good.

I love Oriental Express for the quick service, affordable prices, delicious food, outdoor seating under leafy trees, and the warmth and kindness of the owners.

Their food is consistent, and the people are exceptional. The owner and those who work here are warm, courteous, generous, prompt, and dependable. I’m happy to see them every time I come here for lunch, which is quite often. They make you feel that they care, and they do. Their customer service would rival any establishment, including fine dining. I heart them :) And their date tea in the winter is the highlight of my workday. Please patronize them. If anyone deserves to have their business thrive, it’s people like them.

Try the Taiwanese spring roll. Similar to Vietnamese spring roll, but bigger.

Excellent fast food criteria location. Good prices, fast service, and tasty food. They are eco friendly with their corn cups and cardboard plates. Who else does that and willingly keep low prices? The only thing I’ve ordered is the veggie combo. Good«chicken» nuggets, fried rice and/or chow mein, an egg roll, and side of veggies in a good sauce. If you were a fan of Luby’s fake meat before it closed, this type of fake chicken is pretty close in comparison. The only complaint — it caters to the downtown lunch hour. Very limited hours so it is a treat for me since I’m usually up in the foothills for work.

3.5 stars. Sort of a Panda Express knock off. I usually git and go back to the office. You get plenty of food for less than $ 7. The family that owns the place is really nice. Quick service and enough of a selection to satisfy your chinese lunch urges. The best chinese food downtown. If there is better, let me know…

I work downtown and eat here on a regular basis… I love the vegetarian options and my meat eating friends always enjoy it as well. The prices are good and I always receive friendly service.

Mega yummy! Very quick and fresh food. The prices are excellent, and they have transitioned into eco-friendly take out boxes. I’ve seen their spring rolls, and they are pretty huge. They look like mini burritos. Nice and enclosed patio area. There is always a line during lunch time, but the line always moves very quickly. Mandarin chicken, rice, noodles, chicken salad, shrimp and broccoli they’re all good!

Veg. options always make me excited. Got a Vegetarian combo with a lot of food… Half chow mein, fried rice(steamed and brown rice are available), veggie«chicken» nuggets, side of veggies stir-fried, and a veg. eggroll… all for $ 5.49. I’d have to say… that’s way better than Panda. Since, Panda Express doesn’t even have very many veggie options(well the one in downtown). Food was okay, it’s chinese food. Standard, but because there are veg. options… I’m way all over it. Haha. My veggies were a little too soft as maybe been sitting for awhile… but it’s okay. And they use biodegradable to-go containers, plates, utensils… how awesome is that! They had these«spring rolls» taiwanese style, the girl working told me. I can’t wait to try it next time. It looks delicious and fresh. and they offer veggie«ham» as an option… so cool. Prices look cheap and in downtown near work. I’m sold! :)

Found this one on Unilocal and yes, I am giving it 5 stars! The five star rating is because this small restaurant inside of a food court is fast, cheap, has delicious and fresh quality food, the ambience is perfect, and the employees are delightful! I ordered the $ 6.49 plate for lunch. This lunch included noodles, fried rice, and two choices of meats. I ordered the mandarin organce chicken and the shrimp and broccoli. My boyfriend and I also ordered the egg rolls that were suggested by a previous Unilocaler. Wow, we were impressed. Not only was the food awesome, but I enjoyed the fresh lemonade made with the lemons of «Grace’s Lemon Tree». Also, the portions were very generous for the money. There is a small courtyard right out the back door that is beyond cute for those who wish to get some fresh air while eating. I could not get over how friendly the staff was. I was really happy that we found this gem of a restaurant in Fresno!

Went back again today(probably my 5th time now) and again the food was excellent. The owner was also giving out fresh squeezed free lemonade from her tree. Didnt notice it the first time i went in winter, but they have a really nice patio. Chinese Food Downtown = Oriental Express Downtown.
