Nice furniture, okay prices, but horrible customer service. I was able to browse comfortably without a salesperson following me around. Once I found what I needed, I walked to the counter to 3 employees. They were all talking, so I politely stood there waiting for them to finish their conversation. After a few glances at me and 10 minutes later, I’m still being ignored and their conversation is still going on. I don’t plan on ever returning.

Pros — Our experience here at the Blackstone store a year ago went as expected. After we respectfully letting them know we’d rather shop alone(i.e. not be followed around by a salesperson) they respected that. We found a couch and chair set that we really liked. It was inexpensive, which was what we were looking for because we have young children and don’t want to spend thousands on furniture with a 3 year old running around. The sales people were helpful at check-out and ordered our furniture, which came in sooner than expected. Cons — We were talked into purchasing the Guardsman 5-year warranty, which sounded like a sound investment with young children in the house. I call this a «con» because I really believe stores should immediately STOP selling Guardsman warranties and either provide their own or find another company to contract with. We moved to Bakersfield about 7 months ago, and yesterday my husband sat in his recliner and felt himself fall slightly to one side. After getting out and looking at the frame of the chair, the very cheap wood had broken. We weren’t too concerned(after all, we have the warranty!!), until this morning when we got in contact with Guardsman. Turns out their process is ridiculously complicated and even one mis-step(such as not printing pictures in the EXACT size requested) can cause our claim to be denied without the ability to re-open. After reading reviews on Unilocal for Guardsman(you NEED to do this), I wish we had just set aside the $ 150 to apply toward potential repairs by a reputable company. Guardsman is very clearly a sham, and I can’t believe that Oak and Sofa Liquidators don’t know this. We did take our warranty into the Bakersfield store yesterday afternoon(immediately after the incident), and we were told that if this had happened a mere 3 weeks prior(before the 1 year mark from purchase) that they would be taking care of it locally. While I totally understand that they are in no way contractually bound to make exceptions, I do wish that(in the spirit of customer service) they would say«Hey, it’s less than a month, we can handle that.»

Went in last week and purchased a new sectional sofa. The sales associate Cedric went over and wrote down the model number I paid and scheduled my delivery for today, May 16th between 6 – 8 pm. It’s 943pm. The delivery guys showed up around 830pm after we sat around the house all night waiting and calling the store and being told they were 30 minutes away. So after waiting all night, they show up with the wrong sofa and get this, they don’t know if they have the right one in stock! So now a whole night is wasted, the store and it’s drivers didn’t have the decency to ever call and let us know how late they would be despite clearly written instructions on the order to call prior to delivery, plus apparently their employees can’t read or write a 4 digit model number down correctly. I guess they were in too much of a hurry to get back to chatting up some chick named Bambi who was hanging around their front desk while they all sat around doing nothing. Typical new Americans. Absolutely useless, zero pride in their work. Garbage company and employees.

The bf and I were in the market for a new coffee table so we stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Loiue who said hello and made himself available for questions. I liked that the sales staff weren’t pushy or following us around. After a while we found a table we liked and matches our décor… a gray vintage looking table. Loiue was busy with another customer so Cedric helped us out. We paid for the table and Cedric helped my bf load the box in the car… it doesn’t come assembled. Here’s where things get interesting… the bf puts the table together on Monday after he gets home from work. When I get home later that evening, he says to me: there’s a problem with the table. Ugh! Really? I go see what’s wrong and 1. It’s waaaaay darker than the model… it looks black, not gray, 2. There’s scratching on the top surface that looks like someone took a nail and doodled on it. I immediately call the store and speak to Abe the manager. He says they’ll take care of it, so I’m taking the table in this afternoon after work. I’m going to give them 3 stars for now bc they did have good customer service and I found a table I liked(although it’s not the one I got). Depending on how things go today, I’ll update. Review to be continued… SUCCESS! When we arrived, Abe the manager was busy with another customer so he got an associate to help us(I think his name was Sean… blond curly hair, very friendly, did a great job). I explained to the associate that our table was a different color than the floor model and was also damaged. We first went to check out the floor model then we went out to the car to check out the table we got. He agreed that it was darker and damaged so he told us he would get us another box with unassembled table. I asked him if we could just have the floor model bc that’s the one we originally liked. He said he first had to check with the manager. When he came back out to the car he said we could have the floor model. He switched our tables and we were on our way. Overall, I’m happy with the way everything was handled. I can’t give a 5 bc we didn’t get the table I wanted in the first place, but I’m happy with our purchase and the way my concerns were handled afterwards… so I’m giving a 4.

I just purchased a CA King Bed and two full size beds from Oak and Sofa Liquidators. I looked all around for a good deal on beds and luckily stopped here. You can purchase name brand furniture here and they can order it and deliver it to you for a portion of the cost that you would pay at the name brand retailer. Becca, was very helpful and not pushy at all. Definitely recommend shopping here if you are looking for a great deal on quality furniture.

I had been eyeing a small dining set for some time after seeing it on sale at Mor(a year ago) and on their website last month. Went in over Labor Day, it wasn’t there, the salesperson knew nothing about it(or so he said) and I didn’t love enjoy the commision-based attention the sales people give you. From there, I visited whatever furniture stores dot Blackstone Ave heading north, only to be disappointed by the high prices and irritated by salespeople that follow you around the store. Went home to Unilocal, saw reviews for this place and Lifestyle furniture. Both had options in my price range(from website perusing) and I set off the next morning. Comparisons of simple rectangular dining table + 4 chairs: Mor store: $ 398 and up, $ 89 flat fee delivery(table was slightly longer) Lifestyle Furniture: $ 369 and up, $ 70 flat fee delivery(table was slightly wider) Oak Liquidators: $ 288(sale) and $ 350 options, $ 89 delivery that I got for $ 59. The store was extremely causal– I liked the freedom to roam without being followed. I saw the dining set and sat at it, wondering if the small size was still satisfactory(I looove a big dining table to fit the whole group) but trying not to overestimate the size of my tiny tiny apartment. While I was sitting there, a salesperson said hello, I asked about delivery fee, he said $ 89 at first but after asking where I lived, said he could do it for $ 59(as I lived just a few miles from the store, and/or he knew that the regular fee would be nearly 50% of the total cost of the set I was sitting at…) and with that I was sold. I knew this was the most affordable set of furniture I had seen even considering some at , I knew that was the cheapest offer of delivery I had heard all weekend, and even with tax and fees, the total cost was the same as set I was considering at Target. Except with these guys, they would deliver next day and assemble it. Win.(You could probably also argue this is higher quality, it doesn’t have to go through the mail after all.) And they would deliver in the evening around my work schedule. The guys delivered next day, they were on within the specified 2 hr time frame, very nice and courteous, assembled everything in a flash and were gone. I am SO excited about my purchase– color looks better than the store, size fits the room perfectly, it was the best deal I saw, and it was all done by the next day. No waiting for delivery in 2 – 3 weeks, no hassle to assemble, etc. I might have had some luck with the holiday sale and the salespeople being eager for a sale(to lower the price of delivery) but I’ll take it. I’m glad to support a local store.

I recently furnished my very first apartment and bought a dining table with 4 chairs… Couch and love seat… Coffee table with two side tables. And a tv stand. For the price of 1660 I got it all plus delivery. Very nice staff and the delivery guys showed up on time and assembled everything. Everything is decent quality as long as I take care of it of course. You can’t beat the prices and with my situation I wanted new furniture that was going to look nice and get me by for awhile.
Did I purchase a couch here? Yes. The reason: It’s a liquidator store, mostly refurnished goods advertised as new, and the price was right for my budget at the time. So you ask, why 1 star? I added this business, to tell a very short story. 1) Rude Staff 2) Outrageous Delivery Fee(To 1 mile away was $ 85 for a small couch(10ft) I can’t imagine what a sectional would cost.) 3) Did I mention rude staff? Oh, and on top of the price for delivery, they couldn’t deliver it for 5 days. I rented a truck, moved it myself same day, and even with the cost of the rental, insurance, and gas I still saved money! Now that I am not on a tight budget, I would pay twice as much for the same couch from somewhere that had a polite staff and knew how to run a company.
