Best tri-tip sandwich anywhere. People are always courteous and prompt. Best for takeout to enjoy in the comfort of your home.

Do not be fooled by the tiny hut that is Mike’s Grill. The place serves amazingly flavorful and moist tri tip sandwiches. In addition the sandwiches are decently priced and are packed with meat. As a bbq enthusiast myself and having grilled hundreds of tri tips it makes me wonder how they are able to make money with the gigantic portions they give you for the price they charge.

This is the absolute best place to go for a good tri-tip sandwich in town. They’re set up as an ‘order-n-go’ kind of place, although there is seating under the tent. I only eat there when I’m not going home right after. Nonetheless, I have never been disappointed in the tri-tip here. It’s always moist, always packed with flavor and the bread is something I can eat alone. Their bbq sauce however takes the sandwich to a whole new level! They offer a fair choice of sides as well. My personal favorites are the rice pilaf and chili beans. The potato salad isn’t to my liking and the macaroni is so-so. If you haven’t tried Mike’s, hop in your car and go now!

I’m giving this place four stars only because sometimes the service is okay. This place has the best tri-tip sandwich and sauce in town. The meat is soft and the garlic bread compliments the sandwich.

This place is delicious. We live right around the corner, so we had driven by so many times and always meant to stop. Well, we finally did and visited two more times in the same week. Their bbq sauce is on point and their tri-tip is perfection. The slaw on the pulled pork sandwich is also wonderful – it’s got some sort of balsamic flavor to it, which I love. On the second visit, I asked if they could put the slaw on my trip-tip sandwich and they happily did so. It was delicious. The food is great, and the staff is friendly. I’m so happy we finally ate here.

Really enjoyed the food, it’s a nice whole in the wall place! I haven’t had anything there that I didn’t like! It’s all good! I would recommend this place to anyone that like tri-tip sandwiches or hot link sandwiches yum!

This place sets the bar high for what an amazing perfectly cooked tri-tip sandwich should be. The buttery, garlicy, perfectly toasted bread is the icing on the cake. The little shack sits on the corner of a busy shopping center, but looks are deceiving. I must add, I was not impressed by their sides. The baked beans were nothing to write home about and same goes for their rice pilaf. Sides aside, save your $$ and seriously just go for the jumbo sandwich. I’ve brought family from out of town(San Diego) who have requested I bring them a sandwich from here on my trips back to San Diego. It’s that good. Again, don’t bother with the sides. Just go jumbo and also don’t bother with the BBQ sauce. It’s perfect without it. The setting might also not be a place I would take a first date to, but the tri-tip is so amazing it makes up for the outside, folding chair seating. Best tri-tip ever. A must try!

The ribs, tri tip, garlic bread sandwiches, are delicious. Everything is cooked to perfection. Not too greasy, not burned, very juicy, just all around good food for the cost. The place is small, the sitting is alright kind of hot during the summer, but worth it in any case.

I’ve been here a few times, mostly because it’s so convenient. It’s also pretty good advertisement when they have the smoker going. The bbq sandwich is really good but isn’t cheap, although fair considering the amount of meat. The macaroni salad and sides are excellent also.

My brother was raving about this place so long we had to stop for lunch. It’s a small stand. You order, pick up your food and can either take it to go or eat it on the tables setup outside under the tent. The tri-tip was moist and not seasoned. And the bread was soft and a bit toasted. Yummy! My favorite thing was the BBQ sauce they gave us on the side ! For sure the best tri-tip sandwich I have ever had. And my choice of protein is chicken, but I would make the drive out there on a hot summer day for this as a lunch option. The only thing is, it’s hot outside and although they have a nice tent set up for you to enjoy your meal under. It’s best just to take it to go! Heads up.

I must update this review, BESTBBQEVER, EVER, EVER!!! Within a week or so of the first review, I stopped and got more food. Tried the BBQ chicken. It was just delicious! Sadly, I was not hungry enough to grab a rack of ribs, my absolute favorite. My wife, who absolutely HATES bbq chicken, specifically, brown meat, saw that I had 2 thighs leftover. (How these were overlooked, I cannot explain, a huge oversight on my part!) But, anyways, she was starving, and decided to try them. Wifey Poo now LOVES bbq chicken, specifically thighs. I will keep her happy by going and getting her some more, because she’s got a hankering for more of, and I am quoting, «the best stinkin’ chicken I have ever had!» 2 Weeks Later… Visited again, tried the ribs. Wow! So great I almost cried. Such smokey flavor. When I called my wife, and said the ribs were so fantastic, for the dozenth time, she mentioned that I may need to go lie down until I could be coherent again. 1 Week Later… Today I suggested Mike’s Grill to my coworkers, offering to go pick it up. I have been nominated to become the President of the company!

Just tried the tri tip sandwich a few days ago. Was pretty good. I would say if you compare it to DHG, it tastes better. DHG has about 3x the meat though. Fast service. Will come back to try some more things on the menu.

I finally had Mike’s! I had a tri-tip sandwich of course with their potato salad. It all was delicious! However, the seating isn’t. My friend and I went on a pretty warm day and their were flies constantly swarming our food and faces. It was incredibly annoying. I don’t know how they can fix that problem, but definitely should think of something! Obviously could get it to go next time, but if I’m meeting a friend, not an ideal situation.

I always passed by Mike’s grill but never tried until I saw a long line one day. The lady in front of me recommended tri tip sandwich. I also ordered their back rib and both were just ok. Nothing was special. I still want to try their pulled pork sandwich though…

I really hate lowering 5 star reviews, but I feel I must. Over the last couple years, I haven’t went to Mike’s on a regular basis, as I wasn’t in the general area. Now over the last year or two I am in the area more often, so I have stopped a few times off and on. The food is still good, but it seems like something has changed. The food just is not as outstanding as it once was. The main thing I have noticed is the price increases over the last few years. The tri-tip prices have raised by several dollars. I was a little shocked at the price of just a jumbo tri-tip to be $ 10. The sandwich was not as jumbo as it used to be, and for the price I was rather let down. As small as the jumbo sandwich was, I hate to see the size of the normal one. $ 25 got me a hot link sandwich, a jumbo tri-tip sandwich and a medium chili beans. It was not worth the price. I totally understand the cost of meat has went up, but the for $ 10 they should make it a combo or something. I probably won’t be back anytime soon. For $ 25 I’ll just buy a tri tip and cook it myself. Also check your bag before leaving. While I was there today, they seriously handed a woman an empty bag. She got to her car and came walking back saying«I thought my bag felt light». It was a good thing she checked the bag before leaving. I would have been really pissed over that.

Smelled this place as I pulled into the lot; they had their smoker going. Decided to try it after hearing good things. I got the half-rack of ribs and would’ve gotten potato salad, but a sign is posted stating they had a recent fire and didn’t have many of their sides available. The ribs were pork(Doghouse’s are beef, so I get ticked off at the constant comparisons on here) and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The rub was delicious, and the sauce tastes like store-bought KC Masterpiece. I sat on a stool by the walk-up window as if the place was Rally’s, and the guy brought my food out the back door to me. Good service. Food was nice, too.

It does the job, meat more on the salty side but something different if you’re tired of the carnival of people at DHG(Dog House Grill). The place is outdoor so if you a pansy boy or girl then you won’t enjoy the outdoor seating of the elements. Kinda pricey, almost same price as other places but it is better than some. I don’t think is the BEST place is Fresno, it is certainly up there in the top 5 in the city but doesn’t take top spot. I am not biased or a bandwagon jumper but to me and the family DHG is still the best as in price, size and taste. I just despise the parking spots and the College kids plugging up the restaurant. The beans and the macaroni salad were on point tho, they added that extra kick of flavor to the sandwiches. Meat was a little salty but certainly tasted the smoky flavor and that is good. Service was whatevers, cooks were like the, «hurry up and buy» type. I rate this place 3.0
