Wow, was the food here was exceptional. Hole-in-the-wall ethnic cooking at its best. My spicy noodles with chicken were so full of flavor, texture and nuanced complexity, I was extremely pleased. Likewise, the Lao sausage was a delight. What great flavor bursting with lemongrass and mild spices. Made in house! The restaurant itself is not remarkable. But the food is fresh, the folks are pleasant and it couldn’t have tasted better. Thank you Lao-Thai Restaurant for the delicious treat today. I’ll be back! –G

We usually go to Thai Country House. However the wait time is beyond ridiculous. So we decided to drive around & finally found a Thai restaurant just like our old one but 100xs better… The environment was so sweet and the food is perfect… The only problem I had was the portions were smaller than Thai country…

If you’re craving Lao & Thai cuisine, this is the place for you. The food is unique and has an authentic Lao/Thai flavor. I made a stop here before coming back home to the Carolina’s and it was amazing. The atmosphere was really nice as well with just the perfect amount of people. Service was not the best but average for a mom & pop shop. Pad See Ew — ONPOINT, I would have to say that it was the best pad see ew that I’ve ever had in my life. It was sweet and salty. Laab/Larb: I shared this with a friend as a side dish and it was a bit too bitter for me. Although, the consistency of the raw laab/larb was perfect! Sticky Rice: Can’t go wrong with Sticky Rice Sweet Basil Chicken Wings: It was sweet/spice and garlicky. The sweet basil didn’t shine through as much as I wanted but the bell peppers complimented it really well. Overall, can’t beat the prices and quality of the food. I can’t wait for my next trip to Fresno, California. I know where I’m headed!

Came here to give it a try and must I say, worse service ever. Seated us with no menus, we waited. Took other people’s order(came after us) we waited. Finally took our order and we waited another 30 mins(never got our food yet), a table came after we order our food and they got their food before us. Ridiculous. How great was the food? I don’t know we never got it after being in the restaurant for a whole hr. We just up and left.

We were very disappointed in general. FOOD 1. Chicken satay — very rough, dry and blended 2. Meat — rough 3. Papaya salad — it was very spicy even the owner offered to make us non spicy dish. 4. Rice — very yellowish, dry… seems like left over PRICE 1. Hot tea -$ 2 — unlisted on the menu It was not any kind like jasmine, oolong, etc… but just some cheap tea bag. If we would have known, we would order Thai ice tea for $ 2.95 instead. 2. Rice — $ 6.95 for one pot. If the rice were«edible», we would not complain here, but… 3. Chicken satay — $ 5.95 per order — we were told that there were 4 skewers per order, so we asked for 4 order since we have a big group. When we looked at the receipt, we were charged for 5×5.95 instead of 4. We followed by checking on the menu again, the owner jumped in and grabbed the receipt claiming she would explain the receipt to us. First, she said she gave us an extra skewer per order(3+1?), so she needed to charge us $ 1 extra per order. But, didnt she tell us each order comes with 4 skewers? Hmm… Then she realized that didn’t make sense, she started telling us that was for the steam rice. We understood that we should be charged for the rice but shouldnt she itemized that clearly. This was very confusing. 3. An non-itemized charge $ 15 was shown on the original receipt. She explained that was a 10% tip. We wondered how that was calculated since the total amount on the receipt was $ 125(including this $ 15 non-itemized charge). So she quickly grabbed the receipt away. 3. Later she came back with a newer receipt showing an amount of $ 110.54 instead of $ 125. We found that was very confusing and dishonest. We just couldn’t figure out how she did the maths. SERVICE 1. The owner was friendly before we started having problem with the receipt. As soon as we started checking the receipt against the menu price, her face was all darkened. 2. When we were about to leave, she said they closed at 9pm and she still need to pay overtime to the kitchen. Excuse me, we left at 9:20pm, unsure why she told us about the overtime paid… this is a restaurant, she should expect customer don’t leave right at the closig time. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone.

This place is bomb. Every single item I’ve had has been next level excellent. I live right next to it and had never noticed it. Now I have to budget so I can eat that yellow curry soup at least twice a week.

Been here multiple times for mainly laab. Very inconsistent. Don’t know if there are different chefs but the order has always been the same everytime I order it. Some days the beef would be fresh and you can taste beef as it melts in your mouth, however, there are days in which it’s completely dry. Some days the herbs would overpower the bitterness and the spices and there are times in which they complimented the bile and the raw beef. The phở was alright. Had better ones. The beef in the pad eggplant was very dry. The beef used in the pad eggplant were thinly sliced, probably the thin sliced used in phở, were completely dry. I only nibbled on the beef after the first bite. The eggplants were soft and melts in the mouth as it should be but they were sliced 3 inches long by one inch wide in which I’ve never had in this size. The ones I’ve had are smaller. The sauce was way too sweet. As much as i enjoy the texture of the veges, the sauce killed the plate. I really hate to waste food, but I have to leave this plate behind. The pappaya salad was awsome. The spiciness along with the sour and sweet tamarind sauce exploded in symphony only get better with the fresh crunchy and thickly shredded papaya strands. Most place that I’ve been to would serve soggy papaya salad. Thw staff members are friendly but sometimes they are forgetful. At the end of the day, I will always get papaya salad here. I’ve always ordered laab every time but i will have to skip out on this dish the next time i come back.

Me and my wife went to a lot phở restaurants, and hands down its pretty good service was good as well the food. We ate the spring rolls and phở. The best part was that they were not stingy with their ingredients. Beats Mr papaya by a long shot.

Ate here last night and I can say the pad Thai is fabulous. I drove from LA yesterday and was craving Thai and ran into this restaurant on Unilocal. If you want to satisfy your Thai cravings this is the perfect place for you. You can add water on your Thai milk tea can be a bit sweet but that’s just me! Cheers!

It’s been a while since we last visited Lao Thai. On this night, we got there about 20 minutes until closing. We had called in to order a Pad Thai with chicken to go. However, once we arrived, the owner said that if we wanted to dine in, we could. On this visit, we ordered: beef larb(fully cooked, with a little sour and little bitter); Pad thai with chicken; Lao sausage; spicy honey chicken, and pad see ew(chicken). The pad thai was on point. I had mentioned on my first visit that they should go easy on the cooking oil. This time it was perfect. The lao sausage was good. It has a hint of sour from aging process. The sausage comes with a side of dipping sauce. The pad see ew was great. We ordered our plate with chicken meat. The taste was one point. The beef larb was also perfectly made. Loved it. However, the star of the show for me on this visit was the spicy honey chicken wings. They give you about 8 pieces of chicken wings and drumsticks. The slathered the whole thing in this saucy thick honey spicy sauce. It tasted similar to eating some KFC hot wings slathered in asian fusion. On the visit, I have to tell you, they stepped up their game in service. First, they did not turn us away even though they were closing in 20 minutes. Second, they got our food quickly out to us. Third, the service was great. They continued to fill up drinks without having to wave them down, or ask them as you do at many asian restaurants. Also, the owners there were very nice as they came and conversed with you. Overall, my 4 stars became 5 due to the food and service. Great Job!

Thai food that actually tastes like Thai food! A lot of these other places should advertise themselves as «Thai fusion.» I usually get Papya salad, fried pork belly, a curry, and of course khao niao!(Sticky rice) So good. So authentic. So niiiiice! Oh and I lived in Thailand for 5 months if you’re wondering how I’m credible for using the word«authentic.» Khob kun mak ka :)

Seriously good Thai-Laotian food, with such hospitable thai service and price point so humble for such great quality and hefty portion(under $ 10). Im quite surprise I haven’t come around this place sooner because its one of the best Thai-Laotian places I’ve been in Fresno. The flavors, quality and presentation is how it would be in Thailand, in other words authentic– and I can say that since I have been ro Thailand and I am from the South East Asian region(Malaysia). The Thai and Laotian offerings here is geared towards one main dishes like Pad Thai, Thai fried rice, phở, kha poon and appetizers; yes they still have dishes that everyone can share, it just isn’t the perfect place to come if you want a wide variety of Thai dishes. With that said they still have dishes such as tom yum, papaya salad, larb, stir fry specials and fried fish. They do accept credit card, debit card and cash payments here. I had the most delicious shrimp pad thai ever here, priced at $ 7.95. The portion is huge here with huge shrimps popping out of the dish, and the quality of the dish was obvious from the very first bite, it had a bursting balanced flavors of tanginess and sourness from the lime and tamarind, sweetness from the sugar and the spiciness from the chili(non-spicy ca be also ordered here). The noodles were perfectly cooked, with that nice smokey wok flavor. It almost tasted like Char Kiew Tiew from Malaysia. The chicken satay $ 5.95, was 3 thick skewers of chicken breast, marinated in lemon grass, turmeric, sugar and other spices. It was not the most moist chicken satay I’ve had, but it was pretty tender and juicy. The flavor of the marinade was so good, perfect balance of turmeric and lemongrass. While the sweet peanut sauce was also a delight to dip. The Kha Poon $ 7.75 was just so delicious, the broth had a perfect balance of creaminess and spiciness with the hint of slight tanginess of lime. While the noodles was perfectly cooked to al dante. The dish had a generous amount of tender chicken thigh pieces, bean sprouts and other vegetables. The service was impeccable and pleasant, felt like I was in an Asian home with all its warm hospitality– it was the owners themselves who was serving, the owners were always smiling and topping off water, and they even took the time to explain the dish while taking the order to make sure we had selected the correct dish. The interior itself looks old and kinda recycled from an old rodeo western restaurant, yet dont let that deter you, because this place has clean and decent ambiance for dine in.

This place is great. The employees are very nice and attentive and the menu offers a great variety of tasty traditional Lao and Thai dishes. There are some pictures that help you to better pick a dish. I had the spicy noodle dish(Pad Khee Mow). It was delicious! The noodles are fatter than those in Pad Thai and the taste is delectable. The noodles seem to melt in your mouth like butter. It was the perfect mix of spiciness and savoryness. The basil in the dish was just enough to give it a fresh feel. My other half had the spicy Thai friend rice. This had a good spice to it. The flavors were not disappointing at all. We will definitely try this place again. Portion sizes are good for what you pay. The place is inviting and small. You will not be disappointed. Employees are also very helpful with explaining the food items so that you can better make a selection.

Not sure why all the high ratings… perhaps just not many choice here in Fresno… Stopped in for lunch, 3 of us all shirt n ties, waitress promptly seated us and took our orders… then forgot about us. Very few others here, so I’d have thought when we were done eating she would have brought the bill… eventually we just walked up to the counter… Food was good… reasonably priced… asked for medium spicy… didn’t get any spice that I could determine…
