So happy with my decision to come here. Out of town for work and stumbled upon this gem. Great food and service. Was told by a local that the bar had been there 100 years, well I’m sure it’s old. Stupid rail project will be forcing them to move. Check it out while you can!

We got exactly what we were looking for in our dining experience here last night.
Ambiance from the 70’s maybe? Beautifully done wooden bar, full length of the room, credible wine list, good list of appetizers, great choice of entrees, (I had the filet) excellent wait staff.
Definitly a place to return to.

I’ve been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Definitely a hole in the wall type of place. The exterior of the building isn’t nice and the area it’s located in is by far not your regular family night eatery. But once you go inside, the place is nice. My first lunch there was great! Awesome selection of burgers and sandwiches, loved it. Second time there for dinner, was ok. It was not bad, but dinner seemed mediocre. Had the ribeye steak and my wife has a chicken plate.

I just picked up a turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich to go. My lord was it big and tasty and full of flavor! The service was great and very fast. Whenever I drive by the Cosmo, the parking lot is near or full to the brim, a testament to how well they handle food and service. I’ve had their sweet potato fries and spaghetti with meat balls in the past. Fantastic! I live downtown and even though it’s unfortunate HSR has made it necessary for them relocate, I’m excited because they’ll be a block away from my front door. Thanks Cosmos!

I don’t normally give five stars… but I would even give this place ten if I could! You can always find one of the family owners somewhere in the restaurant — likely why such pride and attention to detail is taken in every plate that comes out to the dining room. YOU MUST ORDER PIZZA MY HEART! You will never be let down by anything else on the menu either. In fact, the portion sizes are usually enough for two meals! Prices are excellent, atmosphere is tasteful and casual, and the quality of food is top notch. Service is always pleasant, extra stars for that! Thank you Cosmo for always being a go-​to for a good time with our friends & family! We can’t wait to see the new location!

I have only been here for lunch both dine in and take out, and every time it has been delicious. They have great customer service, fast workers and the food always tastes fresh. They do not slack on the portions either, the salads are huge the sandwiches are big and thick full of meat and goodies, not like some others places. You definitely get your moneys worth. Highly recommend!

We have been having Family Dinners here for years and have always had the best meals! Everybody’s always full and happy. My Halibut was cooked PERFECTLY last night! My kids are always happy with they’re meals, they love the gigantic burgers and pizza We will always come back to Cosmo’s! The BEST!

Great place to eat and hang out. The food is great quality and flavorful. This place is a popular hangout for downtown work crews. You will occasionally see pillars of the community eating lunch here as well, from politicians, legal experts to prominent business owners. There is a neat bar located inside. It is also opened for dinner.

Cool place, good food and super friendly /​helpful staff. Two thumbs up! Will definitely come back when I’m in the area.

I love the French dip and the sweet potato fries so that’s what I always get. The dipping sauce is amazing and is a recipe created by Fresno’s famous chef and restaurateur, Roy Harland. My hubby has had several items off the menu and loved them all. This place really is a hidden gem and the few bad reviews I have read from people who are not from Fresno tells me they obviously either had a bad experience or don’t value the combination of great food and the history that this restaurant has in Fresno. I believe it’s been around since the 1930’s. If you have never been there, you really have to give it a shot. Yes, it’s not the best area but it’s actually going to be moving closer to Selland Arena due to the high speed rail that is being built near its current location.

I had lunch for the first time here yesterday. While I’m not a fan of the cafeteria style restaurants the food was very good. I had the Cosmo salad and sweet potato fries which were very yummy. And apparently the cafeteria style system is only during lunch so while I won’t be back for lunch I will return for dinner. :)

Been here twice for dinner. Really a Fresno treat. The service and food is amazing. Recommend making a reservation. Sit and have a cocktail at the bar while you wait for your table. Great experience!

They were good. Waitress was rude. I got a burger n it was yummy. Everything was quality. Overpriced n not much customer service. Won’t be back.

This place is a dump. It’s a dark, smelly bar. We got off the 99 due to the great reviews. We opened the door looked in and left. It’s in a terrible area with a strip joint across the street. Who eats here and would give these reviews???

In all my years in Fresno and 16 years of driving by this place on my way home from work, I have never stopped in here. We decided to stop into the bar one day after work and I was pleasantly surprised. the place is very nice inside (unlike the outside) and has a really cool old school vibe. Good drinks and really good appatizers.

Tri tip sandwich with the sweet potato fries are outstanding! Perfect combo! A must go to restaurant for that alone! Would’ve gave it 5 stars but I haven’t tried everything yet, once I do I’ll upgrade it to 5 stars if it’s out if this world!

Boy do I feel sorry for the tastebuds of Fresno. This place gets 4.5 stars, with self service food the quality of fast food. Had the cheesesteak that everyone was raving about and found it to be super average. Service non existent in the bar, had to go up and ask bartender for water after sitting for fifteen minutes with no refill. Just super glad I didnt go to one of the three star joints!

Yum! Best tri tip cheese steak sandwich and a side of sweet potato french fries. The dip with the sweet potato french fries is very yummy. We came on a Friday for lunch is was jammed packed! We sat at the bar (they have a full bar) and was waited on right away. Can’t wait to come back to try the cheddar burger!

Fantastic food as always. Servers seem really unhappy though. Even if a place is an institution, like this… a smile always makes the experience that much more positive.
Wasn’t just one person. There were 5 or 6 young ladies working the counter and food service. 4 of them were not in good spirits. Deep sighs, exasperated calling of numbers… cheer up! People love the food… you’re getting everything else right but that one little (easiest) thing.

Excellent Minestrone soup today (Wed)
The Salami and Swiss Sandwich was reported as 4 stars with cup of soup $ 8.50
Fast delivery to table although we ordered after the lunch crowd about 1:45
NY Pastrami sandwich was was stacked high (see pic) with meat, tomato some lettuce, pickle and some sauce such as 1000 island $ 8.25
The BAD
The bread that the pastrami was served on was a marbled white/​rye (perhaps) but very thin bread. That thinness did not support the thickness and moisture of the meat and sauce. A roll or thicker bread should be requested.
