Centerpoint just recently changed to a Fitness Evolution so heads up for that. This review is for the folks that just hit the weights. The weight room here is located past all the courts and in a building by itself pretty much. The equipment is outdated and seem to be maintained maybe a few times a month. The place gets mad stuffy and hot cause of the lack of ventilation. And for the same reason. the weight room smells a little funny. There really isn’t a place to deadlift but at least they do have two squat racks. I think it’s about an avg gym as far as weight training goes. Not really designed for the people with bodybuilding in mind. More like a maintenance kind of gym for the middle aged to old dude that just wants to stay healthy.

I had been going to Centerpoint for years then it was purchased by the company that owns Sierra health club they raise the prices and reduce the service is now fitness evolution has purchased it has reduce the dues to $ 20 and he is obviously investing considerable capital. If you are looking for a very good place for you and your family have a great pool where that is tip perfectly I suggest the new Centerpoint for fitness evolution. Always seems to have the nicest other members

I’ve been coming here for a few years and like the fact that it’s close to my house. Lately, though, this place has been pissing me off. Ever since they came under new management. Locker room is always dirty and smelly, young employees(with the exception of Juliette) are aloof and checking their phones, and I just now found out that they are thinking about getting rid of their Wi-Fi. I’m paying all this money for shoddy equipment, rude employees, and obnoxious, drunk men playing racquetball. Screw the drive; I think I’ll find a new place!

I first started comming here back in ’09 then stoped moved and now back in Fresno. My membership is with Sierra sport but I love that fact that I can now come back to centerpoint! It’s about 2 min from my house so convince is a major factor but they are also open till 11pm mon thru thurs big plus since I’m a night owl. Cardio room is a but small with about 20(guess) difference machines to choose from. It is upstairs which for some that may be hard. Yes it’s a gym but for some stairs are a no go. This okay because down the hall of handball courts and around the corner of the basketball court is the weight room. They have about 5 more different cardio machines plus free weight section and tone of machines. I love the fact that they have different machines from centerpoint becaue I get the best if both gyms! If ya are coming from sierra sport like me ya don’t scan the card just write your name on the paper and keep going. Enjoy!

Boy, do I miss this gym. Hours were great, facilities were moderately clean, staff was excellent and always friendly. Locker rooms have a mini hot tub, there’s an outdoor pool, and the classes have friendly instructors and participants. I loved going to yoga on Monday evenings. The group fitness room has yoga mats, straps, and blocks for everyone. Their free weight/lifting room had fixed weight bars, plenty of benches, and 3 squat racks. There’s also a lot of room to spread out to stretch, though I could only ever find one dilapidated foam roller. Sure there’s no AC and it gets miserably hot even with the fan blowing right in your face, but that really adds to the charm, right? Right. Obviously I can’t end this review without mentioning the beer offered on tap next to the Muscle milk. Loved seeing the dudes hanging out with beer after their racquetball games. Thanks for the great two months, Centerpoint!

I recently decide to change my review for the simple fact that the gym is way overpriced for the equipment you get to use. I pay 20 and use brand new equipment at planet fitness. I mean I’m not saying my current gym is the best overall but it’s better then this place. The equipment is out dated. The weight room smells. It’s always muggie and hot in the weight room. You get this people in there slamming weight and hogging the machines. Overall I wouldn’t go back. Sure it was only a few mins away from the house but I would go on the drive just to get the better equipment and comfort and cleanliness.

I really love this club. I have been a member for years and it feels like home. I have been to other clubs but have always stayed here. There are a wide choices of classes to take, an outdoor heated pool, racquet and handball and so on and so on.

easily accessible for me and a nice place to burn my calories, but noticed some old falks are very territorial including some instructors. More of old people environment. Don’t go there on MWFs. Smells and filthy. Professionalism is lacking among the staff.

As a member for over a year and a half I have found the gym satisfactory but not amazing. It’s main attraction is its location close to the Tower District. The weight room could use more constant attention as most members don’t seem to take care to re-rack weights or use sweat towels(the gym doesn’t provide any sweat towels to check out). There are parts of the equipment that could really use more thorough wipe downs(handles for pull up bars for example). The fans are old are difficult to position in the weight room, where it gets humid and stinky pretty quickly. The only nice stationary bikes are located in the spin class rooms and are only allowed to be used during those classes. Also be careful because if you don’t cancel your membership 30 days before the billing period resets you will unknowingly get caught paying for 2 more months beyond when you planned ending your membership. It takes 30 days to end the auto-pay but on top of that if you want to fully cancel it also takes 30 days written notice. Your statement for your due a balance won’t show up until AFTER they consider it due, at which point your 30 days wouldn’t be effective until you have paid for yet another month on top of that. Thanks Centerpoint.

How many gyms have you seen serving pitchers of beer next to their Muscle Milk? That along makes this place a special brand of awesome. I’ve been going for three years now, and ever since the Y closed, it’s the only fitness center within 20 minutes of Central Fresno. They have a lot of 90’s equipment, which seems tough enough to last through the zombie apocalypse; only the leather pads are in varying stages of decay, though most are new again right now. The level and amount of equipment is enough for me, especially since I’m usually there at odd hours and don’t have to compete for a workout. The weight room has a lot of different machines, from basic presses and curls to assisted pullups, weighted ab crunches, and a nifty all in one thing. The free weight section is also decent, but aging. Lots of old iron there, not much padding. The circuit training room especially is rarely full enough to wait for anything, so you can usually find me in there. The cardio fitness equipment, unfortunately, is mostly older and uncared for, definitely seen better days. I love the hiking machines, I feel like I get twice the workout in the same time on them, but there’s only 3 and they get full fast, plus one is starting to sound clunky. A few of the treadmills and ellipticals knock or squeak badly. I consider hard cardio a vital part of a balanced workout, but if one if the good machines isn’t available, or if someone is using one when I’m not rocking out, it really kills my buzz. The pool is nice but often gets crowded on warm days and evenings, as you can imagine. They close it an hour before closing time, so I rarely have time to get in, but my fiancée enjoys it. I’ve never seen it dirty or unmaintained. So far I’ve never been to a class, believe it or not, they’re always a bad time. Same for the personal training, but that’s just me being cheap. I know they offer Zumba, swimming, spinning, pilates, and a lot of other classes. For the first half of this year I was getting steadily more disappointed, I was almost ready to cancel my membership. They did no maintenance, no improvements, nothing. Suddenly this summer they’re fixing everything at last, but it left me wondering what happened to the dues, given how packed the place gets. I hope there’s a brighter future from here out. The single biggest complaint is that I can’t stand how early it closes; I have a late shift and can rarely make it after work. I envy 9−5ers. The early weekend hours are just another gutpunch. If a 24hr opened anywhere near central Fresno, I’d switch in a heartbeat, no matter how cool the staff here is. Unfortunately I’ve spoken to a few gym owners and all say that as long as there’s no competition, there’s no incentive to spend money for 24h operation. Why do Modesto & Bakersfield, each a third the size of Fresno/Clovis, get so many 24 hr gyms? Makes no damn sense. Overall, as low class as it is, I really like this gym and will probably be training here for years to come.

I’ve been a member for years since it is the only gym that is a reasonable distance from Tower District. As far as gyms go, it has weights, racquet/handball courts, aerobics classes, a pool, basketball court, etc. Pretty straight forward basic stuff. It does lack the meat market feel of GB3, since the members are mostly older and there aren’t a whole lot of hardcore lifters. Oddly enough, the one a-typical amenity is the beer in the lobby. Racquet ball players tend to congregate there and have a good time between games, or rather in lieu of games I suspect. Honestly if it wasn’t for the location, I would have moved to another gym a long long time ago. There hasn’t been any major improvements made in a long while and the equipment tends to be on the older side. Some of the clientele is a little skeezey. The front desk employees are all really nice, but management seems to be a little off their game. TVs in the weight room both have sound and seem to perpetually be on different channels, which drives me nuts and they don’t seem to care. Also, the upstairs cardio room is usually way to hot. I don’t think they want to pay for the A/C. But honestly, if you’re looking for a gym on this side of town and you don’t have the need for any extraordinary amenities, Centerpoint works just fine and at $ 40 a month, it’s not too expensive. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from joining as long as they have reasonable expectations.

I’ve been a member for nearly 15 years and although not much has changed in that time, it has all the basics. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The early mornings are not crowded and they offer a variety of classes, personal training, heated pool, day care and a snack bar. It’s definitely a no frills gym but I prefer it that way.

I was actually looking for 24hr fitness but there is none in Fresno. What’s up with that? I mean, Fresno may not be well developed like the bay area but it’s a BIG city. Don’t they see the potential? I Unilocaled for the local fitness gym near my friend’s house, and I found this place. I’m so used to working out back at home and since they don’t have 24hr fitness, I was desperate and determined to find a gym to go to. I decided to call and see if they offer any FREE passes. I talked to a girl name chantelle, she was very helpful and sweet. She agreed to give me two free passes to try out. I was ecstatic and told her that I would be there in 20 minutes. The gym is located around residential area and the building looks a little out dated. The gym definitely needs a mini facelift. Being a visitor from out of town, I had no trouble locating this place because the directions were easy and straight forward. Even though the gym is relatively small compare to 24hr fitness, there is plenty of parking for people to park. The set up of this gym reminds me of the 24hr fitness on Curtner and Almaden. Their machines are on the second level and are fairly new. There are plenty of machines for people to use and they have a variety of selections just like your typical gym. Their weight room is located on the first floor towards the back and quite frankly, their weights were old, kind of rusty and they really need to get new ones. They also have some cardio machines inside the weight room. This gym has a basketball court, 3 weight room and cardio rooms, racquetball court, a training room, swimming pool, group exercise room, massage therapy and body wrap room. They pretty much have a bit of everything to accommodate people. I was here for two hours and I have to say, it was very satisfying. Their staffs were very nice and friendly. Overall, the place was very clean and has good air flow. They also have a juice bar there too. Unilocal, you didn’t disappoint me this time. High five! Thank you for Unilocal :-).

centerpoint isn’t the newest gym out there, but it is nice. and, @ $ 39 a month it’s a pretty good deal. they offer specials for certain employers, like fresno unified. the weight room is good sized, and they have a lot of different machines as well as free weights. there are cardio machines in there, as well as in a dedicated room. i haven’t taken any of the classes there, but it seems like they have a lot of options. nice basketball court, and i hear the pool is good. i’ve been spending a ton of time in the racquetball/handball court. you can usually get in, but mwf can be pretty busy as the fresno handball club has several courts reserved from like 3pm-8pm.
