Bank of the Sierra Ag Credit Center

Caveat: it’s not an ag credit center, it’s a regular bank branch.
I admit I didn’t go in there as a customer. I have experience in the financial industry and I heard they were hiring so I went in to speak with the manager. Maybe I came across too much as a salesperson and she didn’t want to deal with me, I don’t know, but this office gave me every impression of being exactly the kind of cold, unfriendly place that I hate to encounter. It was as quiet as a mausoleum, and it looked like my elderly aunt had picked out the décor.
I asked to speak with the manager, who turned out to be a woman who looked like she never met a smile she didn’t hate, such as a overzealous librarian, or a ruler-​wielding disciplinarian nun at a parochial school. She was behind the teller line, apparently counting change for a business customer. She told me to sit in the waiting area and she’d be with me in a minute. As there was only one other non-​employee in at the time — the customer for whom she was counting change — I anticipated that I wouldn’t be sitting long.
I was wrong.
She let me peruse brochures (I read them all) for nearly ten minutes until I got tired of waiting and left. One other person came in and sat down next to me and was not acknowledged in the entire time he and I were both there. I did not hear a friendly word or voice directed to anyone, customer or coworker, during my wait.
While I was happy to have put to rest any notion of working here, I would warn anyone away from a place where customer service and general friendliness are given so little attention.
