Being from the Middle East, the Shawarma’s are great and the portions are huge — unless you eat a lot, you will have trouble finishing one. I would highly suggest not putting a lot of toppings in your Shawarma’s and maybe stick to the diced cucumber/tomatoes, pickles and cabbage along with some hummus and a spicy sauce. Also, you have to have on the larger bread(not the pita bread). This can turn out to be quite the expensive affair. With drinks, it can cost about $ 20 per person. Parking may be a little bit of a pain as well unless you’re going at night when there is no metered parking. Be aware of the timings since this is a Jewish place and is usually closed from sundown on Friday to Saturday.

I happened to walk by Sizzle, while they were still closed this morning. I was heading to the library on Union Turnpike and 187th Street. After uploading a few pictures into flickr I decided to stop by Sizzle to see if they were already open. I loved the food and liked the customer service. The entire staff is genuinely welcoming. The prices are great considering the amount of food you get. The only odd thing was seeing a woman talking with a man outside the restaurant. She was an attractive young woman who later entered. She seemed very friendly to the men behind the counter. Eventually she left by herself. I was able to enjoy the store and ended up tasting the food. I would definitely return to Sizzle. Enjoy the food!

The schwarma and the falafel is excellent as others have said the place is exceptionally clean and the service is very friendly and good. Overall the food is very tasty and a wide assortment of vegetables and appetizers to choose from. I went there with my son and we both shared each other’s food and everything was great and we enjoyed it would definitely recommend it.

The closest place for lunch for me, this place is especially crowded during lunch time and I prefer to order when it is less crowded. Also, it’s a Jewish establishment so it’s closed on Saturdays and major holidays. — Chicken Shawarma — I had it in a pita sandwich and it was so deliciously filling. Something about the way the chicken was roasted made it very juicy and flavorful — Falafel in a Pita(free soda!) — The falafel was okay, super crunchy. I found crunchy balls in the sandwich to be not to stable, so get your fork ready.

Came here for lunch today. Loved the food and I really liked the customer service. The entire staff is genuinely welcoming. The prices are great considering the amount of food you get.(Shawarma, salad French fries and a soda for under 20 $). Parking wasn’t so bad and they have a good amount of drinks to chose from. Will definitely be returning here. Mix up the chicken and lamb in a pita. You won’t regret it !

I tried this place for the 1st time and the falafel was fresh and great tasting. I would definitely go again. They give you a decent amount of the falafel balls and they stuff your pita with what ever you want.

The shawarma here is amazing. I really enjoy eating shawarma right off the spit. There’s something about it that just feels so authentic! I’ve been here only a few times, only because I feel it’s a bit pricey for a fast casual type of place. Overall it’s a nice little joint that really hits the spot.

Passed by on the way to St. Johns AMAZING lamb schwarma! Get it with the wrap/pita… not sure what it’s called. It’s $ 14, but it’s HUGE! Enough to feed 2 and a half people. I got it with cucumber and tomato salad, onions, roasted eggplants, parsley, hummus, Pickled cabbage and whatever the white sauce is! Soooooooo deelish! and the customer service is exceptional! The guy that prepared the food was super accommodating to every customer and treated the restaurant like it was his own. The place is small, but clean… oh, and it’s kosher =) if u live in Queens… it’s a must try!

So I have eaten here a couple of times. I always ask for lamb which is clearly on the menu and they never have it. I really like the guy working behind the counter. He has a great demeanor. Food is good for a shawarma shop.

First rate food. Service is professional and friendly and thorough, more focused on good service than high speed. The excellent falafel in large pita with large choice of fixings plus soda for $ 7.50 is a bargain. The prices for the meat based dishes are a bit steep. This is an excellent addition to the neighborhood.

This place sucks! But, I had a slightly unorthodox experience there which I’m about to share with you all that entire story very briefly as part of this review. This was my first time visiting(I’ll never go back) and to be totally fair to Sizzle, that was the very 1st thing I told them at the counter. I received a certificate from that I could use at various spots in there network, and Sizzle was the closest. I explained my predicament to them and used the phone app to access the certificate directly in front of them, of course they never heard of . But took my order anyway and give me too much of a hard time. Still the guy was perplexed and perturbed by the matter and proceed to voice his opinions and inquiries to his boss and all while I’m sitting there not enjoying my food. I don’t know what kind of business practices they use there, in terms of online sites and partnerships. But don’t smile and my face saying okay, alright and turn around in the very same spot on the phone and get into heated debates over my order while I’m still in the place. That was EXTREMELY uncomfortable, and all that hassle was over mediocre ethnic(sorry couldn’t think of a more accurate word) that I could get at food truck or food cart. So that’s my terrible experience eating hot garbage, and feeling shamed for poor business practices at Shawarma & Sizzle Falafel Bar!

I thought the chicken platter was alright. My favorite part was the fresh made falafel appetizer. It was well priced and tasted great. I look forward to going back and trying the shwarma.

I love good Shawarma so I did a search for a local spot and found Sizzle. Excited to find a local place that I could take my fiancé to in order for her to try out shawerma for the first time. This place made that experience a disaster. The food was cold and dry which is odd being that it was freshly sliced. The guy serving us had a common forward and crass attitude but he seemed to be going out of his way just to give us the cold shoulder at times when we asked questions. I would call it a food truck made of bricks but that would be an insult to good food trucks.

This place is pretty much a halal cart but in a store front. This price was extremely high for the small portions you get. The food did taste good which is why I gave them 3 stars. Like other Unilocal have said this place is immaculately clean. But I think I’ll stick with my halal cart guys.

First of all, this place is CLEAN. I mean you can eat off the floor-am I getting through? I had a lamb shawma on a pita that comes with 2 sides. The meat was juicy and succulent. The fries were good(hard to mess up fries) and an Israeli salad. Sweety had falafel platter — also comes with 2 sides, she had an Israeli salad and a cabbage salad. Speaking of falafel, they make it fresh to order whenever you get it. It’s not like that fried sand you get when you order falafel from most other places because it’s been sitting there for an hour under a heat lamp or worse even, microwaved. This falafel is just like you get in the Middle East; crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. The tahani is also fresh and flavorful, not like that concoction you get out of a bottle. I don’t know what other reviewers were where complaining about but I got a sharwarma in a pita, slathered with humus, 2 sides, a soda. Sweety got a falafel platter 6 falafel balls, 2 sides and a salad and a soda and the total came to $ 22. Trust me, it was a lot of food for the money. If you just want the Falafel on a pita with no fires or salads take off $ 4.00 per item. If you are looking for a cheap $ 4.50 falafel that is dry and dense like concrete this ain’t the place for you. You get what you pay for. I will definitely be back. PS: Believe it or not, the workers have a Karaōke setup behind the counter and if you like, they will serenade you with cool Middle Eastern music(Arabic and Israeli). The owner told me that it is a requirement that the workers have to have good singing voices.

Saw the buzz on Unilocal about Sizzle Falafel Bar and figured I d give it a shot. When I first went in there seemed to be an issue with the Unilocal check in offer, which stated $ 10 off %30, which myself nor the man at the counter understood. He said there was some error and to use the voucher next time from Unilocal. That being said the food was good and the portions were huge. I d def try again.

go deep! go falafel balls-deep! do it for science, hunger, and of course, for Unilocal! I’ve only recently begun to explore the Fresh Meadows area(my new dentist is there), and while it’s not the most accessible neighborhood, it’s worth the trek(for those without cars — there’s a ton of buses that stop along Union Turnpike). start by picking falafel, grilled chicken, and chicken or lamb shawarma; then, whether you want it in pita, laffa, a platter, or on a salad. customize with your choice of sides and veggies, ranging from crisp peppers to grilled onions, babaganoush and hummus to rice and french fries. of course I chose the platter — you know how us Unilocal Fat FUCs work! 8 bucks translated to several falafel balls, chickpeas, red cabbage, hummus, babaganoush, pita, and tahini sauce(chickpea overload mode!). the falafel was crunchy, flavorful, and best of all FRESHTADEF. the vegetables were solid; that red cabbage was great. the hummus was smooth and creamy, and the babaganoush had a little kick to it. it’s tiny shop with a few seats that gets pretty busy around dinner time, but the guys behind the counter work fast. besides the usual drinks they also have Israeli juices and soda. with an excellent customizable, delicious and inexpensive menu, Sizzle Falafel and Shawarma is certainly a hidden gem here in the farther reaches of Q-boro!
