I’ve been using Zero Surge products for about 12 years now.
I replaced all of my traditional power strips with Zero Surge filters. Traditional power strips contain a Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) that will fail over time as it is stressed by power surges and lightning strikes. You can read all about the details of this and more on the Zero Surge web site.
Their products are more expensive than traditional power strips — but the cost is worth it!
I was living in Centreville, VA some 8 – 9 years ago, renting a small condo. Our building got hit by a lightning strike. All of my electronics and computer equipment were plugged into Zero Surge filters. Several of my neighbors (3 of them — only ones I talked to) all had their computers, TVs, and other electronics plugged into run-​of-​the-​mill surge suppressors. All three of them had their TVs, computers, and other electronics fried by the lightning strike. Not one of my electronics was affected — the Zero Surge protected everything — and continues to do so!
I have five Zero Surge filters — three of the 8 outlet models — and two of the two outlet models.
