A true hidden gem off the beaten path! The Hinshaws are very proud of what they do and very willing to share their craft. They were so generous of their time to show us their entire process. The items of jewelry they produce are extraordinary. Our children loved it! There was so much to see and learn!

Being as this place mentions being a full service lapidary we were excited to go visit a fellow rock hound shop. We got there and found some lovely materials we wanted to purchase but were given every excuse as to why we didn’t really want to buy those particular items. The oil had to evaporate before they could be cabbed, they weren’t sorted or priced… basically anything of any value they had they didn’t want to sell, unless it was in their jewelry. As people selling things it astounds me to see people who do not make it possible or enjoyable for someone to purchase an item. If you want to buy some junk lapidary material, they might actually sell it to you… The attitudes of the people here made me very interested in spending my money elsewhere.

Really neat place with a HUGE selection of gem and stone jewelry as well as knick knacks. Owner is super friendly and explained a lot about the stones and polishing process. Very much worth a stop if you are in the area.

This place is a must see if your visiting French Lick. One of the most unique shops i’ve ever set foot in! The people are warm and extremely knowledgable. Even if you’re not a stone guru, it’s still a memorable experience.

This is an awesome spot for Rock Hounds. The Hinshaw family is nationally known and respected in their field. The staff is friendly and über knowledgeable. Outside are piles and piles of raw rocks you can buy by the pound and inside are great examples of polished stones turned into beautiful jewelry as well as more higher priced, more impressive rock and fossil specimens. The only complaint(if you can call it that) is that the Hinshaws are so expert they know exactly what they’ve got value wise so you’re not necessarily going to find any bargains. But at the same time you’re not going to over pay for some mislabeled«gem.» When in French Lick skip the Casino… the real treasures are here.

Wonderful little place a bit out of town from the main downtown area. The rocks and gems were simply beautiful here. I bought a sharks tooth and some beautiful stones for $ 1 or $ 2 a piece and there were many more stones that were above this price point that were gorgeous. The store owners take great pride in their shop and it shows. A great place to visit!
