I am a HUGE froyo lover and I take it upon myself to try all the froyo places around so that I can figure out which places are great, which are so-so and which should be skipped all together. Unfortunately, Yoswirl is the latter. I came here at around 8:30pm and the place was dead. I soon realized why when I walked up to the machines to see the flavors and to sample some yogurt. Even though there were 8 yogurt dispensing spots only 6 were in use because 2 were out of order. WHAT?! That’s just plain ridiculous! The flavors they did have were: Plain Tart Taro Espresso Tropical Sherbert Sugar-Free Strawberry Chocolate I’m a big fan of fruit flavors so to see that there were only two made me super sad. On top of that the tropical sherbert tasted weird(it had a strange aftertaste and was super icy and almost chunky in consistency. Blegh) and the strawberry had almost no flavor at all. The chocolate was SUPER chocolatey which is good if your into chocolate. Plain tart however was FANTASTIC while the taro was so-so. The big surprise for me was the espresso because I wasn’t expecting to like it but it was actually really tasty. So after the disappointment of no satisfying fruit flavors and the two broken down machines I got my froyo and moved onto the toppings bar hoping things would be better. Unfortunately they weren’t. Guys I don’t think I have EVER seen a more dismal looking toppings bar. I realize it was 8:30pm but this place doesn’t close till 11pm, the toppings bar shouldn’t look like the picked over dregs of a dessert potluck. The brownie bites were hard as a rock as were the mochi while the sour patch kids were basically non-existant(I think there were maybe 2 floating around in a sea of sour candy powder) and even the sprinkles looked like sprinkle crumbs. I’m not sure how that’s even possible, but it was. On top of the froyo/toppings not being up to par the décor was really tacky(example: old love seats with stained purple sheets draped over them), and the place was just really dirty. The toppings bar had crumbs/yogurt drips everywhere and there were even drips of melted yogurt on the scale where they weighed the yogurt. YUCK. Oh and the guy behind the counter hardly even looked at me. Is it really that hard to smile and say«have a nice day» or «enjoy your froyo»? Overall I give this place two stars because it gives you free reign of the sample cups(a nice thing considering most places these days get the samples for you) and they have free wi-fi. Not sure I’d want to sit on one of their old love seats with mysteriously stained sheets to actually use it though…

Too sweet taro froyo, too tart pomegranate froyo, too tough and dry mochi toppings = unsatisfying dessert. Part of the joy of self-serve froyo is do-it-yourself free sampling, but this isn’t allowed here either.

I love half tart and half taro yogurt then I put every color of the round fish-egg looking topping(they pop in your mouth) and then top that off with the little square jellied thingies and it is heavenly. Also, the girls that work there are very pleasant and nice. I’m gonna go git some right now! Go check it out!!!

When we started going to Yoswirl when they first opened, we thought the concept of self-serve frozen yogurt was so novel and extremely cool. I mean, who wouldn’t love the idea of getting as much fro-yo as you wanted, mixing whatever flavors you wanted, and putting on whatever toppings you wanted? But the newness wore off and we started to notice it wasn’t as great as we initially thought. We tried the fro-yo at other places like Red Mango, Pinkberry, and Yogurtland and slowly started to find Yoswirl’s fro-yo to be icy and not as creamy as the competitors. And then we noticed that the toppings weren’t as fresh as they could be, especially the candy toppings. The mochis were slightly hard and the cookies and chocolate slightly stale. The last time we went, we realized we were no longer fans So, see ya Yoswirl, it was fun while it lasted, but Yogurtland in Milpitas really is a much better self-serve fro-yo joint in every area(fro-yo, toppings, price, and cleanliness).

Thank goodness for the Unilocal app(x2). After Little Fat Sheep you need a little froyo to cool your mouth. We found Yoswirl on the drive home, checked-in, received a discount on really good yogurt. The flavors weren’t inventive but they were solid. The toppings section looked plentiful but it was kind of redundant and not that exciting. Nevertheless it was as FANTASTIC price for 2 cups of yogurt. I would come back again!

So I had to come back to the place that replaced my beloved Café Zen. Meh. While there were some flavors that I can’t recall right now that tasted different and interesting, the overall quality of the yogurt wasn’t what I expected. It was a little runny. But it does look like a cool place to hang out though!

Hello Yoswirl… it’s been a long time. After eating lunch at Kaenyama… bro and I dragged the whole fam here to get dessert… since it’s the fam’s first time having fro-yo… Fortunately, it wasn’t busy or packed at all. The token server, Stephanie(sp) was very friendly and helpful. She took the time to help the grandmas(total of 3) and my mom to taste the flavors that they liked as well as helping them with getting their main froyo flavor and their toppings. She also greeted them a Happy Mother’s Day and that definitely made their day. Overall favorite of the family: taro of course! The fam said the liked it because it was sweet and it tasted light but still flavorful. For me, their yogurt still tasted the same and I can’t complain. Their toppings have grown more than the last time I came so that’s always a good thing. For 6 froyo and unlimited toppings… our main damage was under $ 16 plus a good tip for Stephanie for all her help! To the management: in behalf of my family and I… Stephanie rocked it. More people who work in the froyo industry should have always have a friendly staff!

Came here with my sister and cousin earlier this afternoon. Place was DEAD. I figured since it was Thanksgiving, but the parking lot was FULL. Not popular? Don’t know. But as soon as I walked in, first words that came to mind. uhh. ASIAN-POP-SENSATION. Straight purpled out in this joint! I LIKE!(: Yogurt was good. Wish they had Red Velvet like Tutti Frutti in San Jose. A HUGE selection of toppings. Clean. Very clean. Great atmosphere. And the older lady working the register was reaaaally nice. It was a little bit more pricier here, but hey, oh well. And top this… they have MOCHI topping. You know how your Mochi Ice Cream has that doughy texture covered over the ice cream? Well they serve that as a topping here, the doughy texture part chopped up into pieces. YUUUUUUUUUUUM!

Yoswirl is my absolute FAVORITE frozen yogurt joint! Hahah. Yay, stamp cards! Frozen yogurt here is cheap, and there are soooooo many toppings to choose from! I always get $ 6-$ 8 worth, because I’m fat and I layer tons and tons of stuff: D The people that work here are really nice, they always offer to let you try free samples. Hehe. I looooove the décor. Purple couches, glass walls, TVs, wowzas. They also have board games for you to play, and cards. .Did I mention that they’re open late?
