YMCA Pre School Blacow Elementary School

Blacow YMCA has a preschool program, as well as a before & after school program. My son has been going here for the last 3 years and I have only the most positive things to say about the teachers, counselors and the program itself.
The kids in there are very close and supportive of each other, and the staff is wonderful. It feels more like extended family than a childcare center. I never worry at work because I know my child is in good hands.
It’s also really nice that the head of the site stays in close contact with the teachers and principal at the school. She is aware of all school functions and after school activities, and is very accommodating to the kids who participate in after school sports & programs. My son is in the talent show every year, something he loves and wouldn’t be able to do if he wasn’t accompanied to the after school rehearsal’s by a YMCA counselor. There are also pot luck parties and such so that the parents have a chance to get to know staff and other children in the program.
I love this Y center and feel so lucky that my child gets to spend time here.

This place is outstanding and Indu is an amazing teacher. She really did help me little sister learn much more than I expected her to learn in preschool. She knows how to write her name, the house phone number, and house address. She learned so much from there. I’m happy she ended up going to the Blacow YMCA.

My son goes to this YMCA and I have never had a problem. The teachers over there are very caring and if my son is late from school even for 5 min, atleast one of the teacher will follow-​up to check with parents or class where the students studies. They make sure the students are properly dressed, help them complete the home work after school. Overall I am very satisfied and will be sending my daughter next year too.

Recently I went back to college so I can get a different degree from the one I have so I’ll qualify for a government license which will allow me to open a particular type of non-​profit. Without getting too complicated there are only certain degrees which qualify you for the license and they are in the areas of social science and education. At the time I knew I didn’t want to to Psychology (because I believe it’s mostly crap) or Sociology. So the choices left were Education or Anthropology and I took classes in both to decide between the two.
While taking the Introductory Education class I had to tour different types of schools as part of the process. This was one of the places I toured, and to be honest had to be the WORST. The children weren’t in physical danger or anything, and the place was clean enough but the standards are so low here I wouldn’t even send the child of my worst enemy (if I had one) here!
The program is below developmentally appropriate for children it’s downright boring! Some places you can comment have to much push on children, this place has the opposite problem no push at all and what little art I saw was cookie cutter and didn’t allow the children to learn basic data about colors and mixing.
Parent’s please please please don’t send your children here.
This place was so bad I think I’ll even list is as one of the reasons I picked Anthropology instead.
