I came here once, years ago, but looks like they have expanded and took over the store next door. Place is very spacious and good atmosphere. It’s way bigger. 5 sushi chefs! Never seen so many working at the same time. Fish is super fresh here. Based on the Unilocal reviews for their secret Greg roll, I ordered it. It’s huge. Mostly poki on top of a spicy tuna roll. It’s basically equivalent to two rolls. Also ordered the flaming Dragon roll, which is good if you liked cooked rolls. I really liked the melting albacore appetizer a lot. Will definitely come back to try other rolls in the future. Service here is pretty good too.

Satomi Sushi is my go-to sushi restaurant in Fremont.(Especially their 49er roll.) The sushi is always good quality, and you get a great value for the price. Service isn’t super fast when they’re busy, but you can tell they’re working on it, and not just taking their sweet time. The wait-staff are all friendly and move quickly through the restaurant.

I think the hype here is about the Greg roll which looked huge but not very appealing and the flaming roll for the visual effects. The place was crowded for a weeknight and a wait was guaranteed for about 10 – 15 minutes. Tried the agedashi tofu, crazy roll and assorted sashimi. The crazy roll came out first about 5 larger pieces with rice surrounding salmon, yellowtail and avocado. It was decent with mostly rice as filler. The assorted sashimi at $ 18.95 was a bit disappointing as well. The slices were on the small side and few pieces were mushy. Service was ok and normal for a sushi spot. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but this is your average Korean owned sushi restaurant.

Satomi’s is one of the best sushi spots in our area. We ordered, The Bomb, which is a deep fried ball of jalapeño, crab and tuna goodness. The Greg roll is a must try! A 49er roll and a spider roll is a staple for us whenever we have sushi but Satomi makes it extremely well. I give Satomi 5 stars for great food and great customer service. I know that Unilocal gives customers the chance to review a business but I would like to add a review about a customer. Our dining experience is usually really great at Satomi. Unfortunately, tonight we were sat across from a disgusting and rude couple. First off they were showing an inappropriate amount of PDA. Like seriously get a room. They obvi don’t know how to act in public. Each time they would order something, they would take a couple bites each and send it back saying«it wasn’t good». She must have sent back like 4 items maybe even more. Each time she sent her food back, she treated her server like she was incompetent while her server maintained her patience and still tried her best to satisfy this unreasonable customer. This is a situation where the customer isn’t always right. It is not fair that there are customers out there that try to take advantage.

Almost all their rolls are super overdone with sauces and toppings. This spot is definitely good but clearly is not«authentic» or simple sushi. Great meals can be had at a reasonable price. The wait can be quite long for dinner especially on weekends. Came here again and got their bento box — SOGOOD! I’d definitely recommend the bento route if you’re in a rice mood — the proteins are great and there’s just enough sushi to satiate a craving.

Let me start off by saying that I’ve had sushi at endless amount of places and this by far is one of THEE best! I had the spicy tuna roll, satomi sushi roll which was life-changing as well as the mango paradise roll which was a semi-sweet flavor. Everything was extremely fresh, staff was so friendly! Gave us a side of edamame because we were waiting for a while, which we didn’t mind because they were clearly very busy. Prices I would say are pretty average with most places! Just try it, you won’t regret it!

We tried this place again and what I tried This time was ok. So I dropped a star. 3 stars for friendly fast service And water refills. But the spicy salmon hand roll was bland as well as other rolls in the pictures. Bummer

Yummy yummy sushi! :) I had gotten take-out once from here a few years ago, and I remembered it being good. My sis and I came here for lunch yesterday about 1pm-ish, and we got seated right away. The service was attentive and friendly. The sushi came out really fast which was surprising! We got the Lion King Roll, Flaming Dragon, & the Cherry Blossom roll. We love the Lion King Roll & Flaming Dragon the most-very delish. We would have to get the Greg Roll the next time we come. :) They also gave us free miso soup & a orange dessert– coolies *thumbs up*

When they say they got spicy sushi here, they mean it. When it comes to jalapeño-covered«Japanese Cowboy» or «Inferno Scallop» specialty rolls, they want to burn your tongue off. It’s easy to pant for beer, iced tea and water — one after another — to cool your tongue off for long minutes at a time. I wouldn’t say«Satomi» is near the top of anything I’ve had, but it’s a one-of-a-kind adventure — an adult adventure that I’d recommend you getting sloshed alongside the sushi on a Friday night. Wear something you can unbutton, and party like a fish-crazed hellcat. These are the adventure ideas for 35-years and up, of course, because that’s where I’m at. I’m real high on «Satomi,» I really am. It looks like a red-lit 1930’s Berlin cabaret in there, without the show tunes of course but with contemporary jams. Of course, I’m saying this after I had a couple beers, so how do I know what was real or fabricated in my mind? I’ll be back. #sublime

I came here for lunch after reading that this place have really high review. I cam here during lunch time right when it open so I got seated right away. This place share a plaza parking lots so parking was not a problem for me. Inside, it is a place with plenty of table and I chair. I ordered the flaming dragon as this is what everyone recommended. They did give us free miso soup which was cool but the soup was a bit too salty for my taste. The food came in pretty fast and WOW. The flaming dragon do look really cool. With the fire burning right in front of me. really catch my eye. Onto to the taste. The sushi was pretty good. The flame really warm the sushi inside and everything blend in so well. I think next time I come here, I would try their greg roll as I saw other people ordered it and it was huge! Decent price and big portion and taste sushi. Come give this place a try!

Once again I am on my quest for the best chirashi in the East Bay and I found myself picking one up from Satomi. The restaurant itself is located in a small plaza. While there are a decent number of parking spots, the plaza itself can be a bit busy so you may need some luck. The restaurant itself is decently large and wasn’t too busy for a weekend at a slightly off-peak hour. The service was friendly and helpful too. The chirashi itself is quite decent. I was impressed by the amount of fish they give and the price. The fish isn’t superb or anything but it’s decent. Nothing too fatty, flavorful, or unique but solid«typical» chirashi items like tuna, salmon, hamachi, etc. The one unique item I got was the herring roe which was a nice change of pace. Overall, I liked it. I don’t know if I’d make a trip out here just for it but if a friend wanted to come I wouldn’t be opposed.

My friend was pretty excited about this place, though to me it was really only about how big the rolls are. Kind of the«Cheesecake Factory» approach to sushi. WOW! Look at that big portion. Nothing about it was particularly fresh, and it wasn’t the most delicious sushi I’ve had. Three stars because it’s pretty average sushi, fairly priced, really large portions. But if you’re a sushi snob, this one probably won’t impress you all that much. Perhaps a better name would be «Sushi For The People?»

*Cue the Carlton Dance* That’s right folks, Satomi Sushi makes me want to swing my hips from side to side while snapping my fingers as Carlton used to do on the beloved«The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.» If you don’t know what I’m talking about(where have you been?!), a quick Internet search will give you some clarity and insight into some sweet dance moves. Why am I so excited you ask? I’m dancing without a care in the world because I’ve found yet another AMAZING sushi restaurant close to home, AND it features unique sushi rolls from a SECRETMENU. Umm unique and tasty sushi + secret menu? Congrats Satomi Sushi, you have officially discovered my ultimate weakness. We first started out with three selections of nigiri — nigiri is generally an appetizer dish that consists of raw fresh fish on top of sushi rice. It usually is not flavorful on its own and needs to be dipped in soy sauce and wasabi if you enjoy spice. The nigiri we chose were the ikura(salmon roe), uni(sea urchin), and maguro(red tuna), and each selection comes with two pieces. I enjoyed the maguro because tuna is naturally flavorful, and as I like to eat my sushi plain without soy sauce, ginger, or wasabi, I was happy with this selection. The ikura and uni are a different story however as they are definitely an acquired taste, and if you are not used to eating nigiri, I would recommend staying away from these two for your first time. Overall, the nigiri was good, but not amazing, and definitely not the star of the show. For me the spotlight belongs to the Greg Roll and the Flaming Dragon Roll, both rolls off the restaurant’s secret menu. As these rolls are technically a «secret,» you won’t find a description of them anywhere on the menu, and you only find out about it through word of mouth. I found out about these rolls through Unilocal,so thanks Unilocal! The Flaming Dragon Roll has deep fried shrimp, snow crab and spicy tuna inside the roll and it has salmon, yellowtail, tuna, tobiko and special house sauce on top of the roll, and it is wrapped in tin foil and set on fire! I am a sucker for flaming rolls, not only because they are visually really cool, but also because the roll then has a smoky flavor to it which enhances all the other flavors! The fire does eventually burn out and a server will come to open up the tin foil for you so don’t burn yourself. The Greg Roll is the big daddy of all sushi rolls I’ve ever seen. Standing at about half a foot tall, this roll has everything under the sea in it(and on top of it!). The roll has shrimp tempura, salmon, crab, spicy tuna, unagi, and seaweed salad, and it is so massive that it is meant to be shared by a minimum of two people(trust me on this). Both rolls are visually stunning and absolutely delicious because the fish is fresh, the flavors compliment each other rather than fight each other, and you are definitely getting a bang for your buck. I will definitely be back for those secret menu rolls and don’t be surprised if you find me doing the Carlton in a corner somewhere when I do!

Huge portions. Great staff. Not very traditional but solid fresh fish. I’ve had several rolls and the sashimi boat. Everything was fresh. What I really liked was the customer service. I had ordered grilled hamachi collar and it came out on the small side. We didn’t notice but the manager came by and said because it’s smaller they will adjust the price. That was nice, knowing that they pay attention to what they are serving and keeping customer satisfaction at the forefront of their business. 5 stars in my book.

We went here for my nephew’s birthday dinner. We made reservations on a Friday evening and waited until the whole party arrived. Which was great was they sat us on the table even if the whole party was not present. My brother advised me to order the secret Greg roll. Omg, this is by far one of the best sushi I ever tasted! The Greg roll was filled with snow crab meat, shrimp tempura, topped with tuna poki salad. We also ordered the flaming dragon! The sushi was all covered in aluminum foil and up in flames! It definitely grabbed everyone’s attention by other tables. Great food, good service, and everything you could asked for.

A cool and hippy place. Their food and service here is beyond words. Staff is friendly and the fish is fresh. You get a lot of food for what you pay at a sushi place Surprisingly they don’t over price their seasonal items. Their fresh scallop was only $ 16.00 and fresh amaebi was $ 21 for 5. This place does get packed but they flip the tables pretty quick.

One of the top 3 sushi restaurants in Fremont. Awesome atmosphere. Great service. And bomb tasting sushi. What more do you need? The atmosphere of this restaurant is nice and peaceful. The whole restaurant is extremely clean. The tables are also spaced out so we don’t feel crowded. The service is friendly and fast. The waitresses come to check up on you pretty often. When we were seated, we were almost immediately brought steaming bowls of miso soup. A little salty but nonetheless delicious. They also give you complimentary orange slices at the end of your meal. The rolls took very little time to come out, maybe less than 10 minutes. The only one that took a bit longer was our baked roll but that’s understandable. They have a moderate variety of specialty rolls and so far the ones I’ve had are pretty delicious. We ordered the Lion King, the Flaming Dragon, and the Raider’s. All were great! The Flaming Dragon is a real treat. It’s basically a roll with raw slices of yellowtail, tuna, and salmon over a california roll i believe. But the roll is wrapped in tin foil, and they poured alcohol around the roll and set it on fire! When the alcohol is burned out, and you unwrap the roll, the fish inside is partially cooked but still a bit raw. The Raider roll was my favorite. It had this addictive sauce on the top of it. I just couldn’t get enough! Plus it had shrimp on both the inside and the out so it was bomb for me! The Lion King was pretty standard, most sushi places have it. But they did a pretty good job with it too! Great sushi restaurant ^__^

Damn… while the service is still great, the food quality has fallen a ways since my last visit. The Ultimate Spider roll came loaded with too much rice and topped with deep fried soft shell crab that’d been sitting out for a while. The well known Greg Roll was ginormous and certainly filling, though unremarkable in the quality of the ingredients… eg. cold shrimp tempera inside and a ridiculous amount of wakame atop that got old after a couple pieces. Likewise, the tempura batter on the shrimp & veggies as part of the udon dish was greasy and too dense. The saving grace was just the tenderness of the beef teriyaki which, sadly, doesn’t say much. Props to the prompt and courteous staff and reasonable prices, but I won’t be back again for the food.

First thing first, if you see other tables order this really huge fancy roll called«The Greg Roll» and decide you want to have it too simply because its on their«secret menu», don’t get it. It’s a rip off! For a whopping $ 21.95, its mainly rice and a pile of messy sashimi drenched in cream sauce and topped with seaweed salad. It also has a lot of rice. Everything else was fresh but ordinary for the most part. We started off with Assorted Sashimi for $ 19.95, which had about 18 slices of assorted chef’s selection. Some of it tasted too refrigerated and very cold, it was kind of a miss. 49er Roll — Salmon, avocado wrapped salmon and sliced lemon — yummy, generous portions, pretty standard roll you can get anywhere. Flaming Dragon — deep fried shrimp, crab meat and spicy tuna, avocado covered with salmon, yellowtail, tuna and tobiko with fire. This one was the most fun since it came wrapped in foil and lit on fire! It was entertaining. Everything is cooked and covered in creamy sauce. The service was good, a little bit leaning towards the pricier side, sushi did not hit the spot for me.

Had a nice lunch here. They weren’t too busy around lunch time on a Saturday but people were constantly coming and going. We were greeted with water and miso soup. The miso soup was your standard miso. We also got hot tea which was no charge, so be sure to ask. I always appreciate it when places don’t charge. I had never tried the Greg roll before and wanted to see what the hype was about. We also got a super California roll which is the basic California roll with eel on top. We probably could have passed on the super Cali roll because the Greg roll is basically three rolls into one. The Greg roll is good. It’s $ 21.95 which kind of was shocking for one roll but it makes sense when you see how huge it is. The roll itself is like two rolls and then the seaweed salad and the poke salad on top. It’s a huge amount. The poke salad fell off the roll as it got to our table because it was just piled on so high. It was difficult to eat because of how huge it was and that was annoying. You had to bite into the sushi, and for me that defeats the point of sushi because I like to eat in one whole bite. Nonetheless, the flavors were nice. It wasn’t too overwhelming but trying to eat that last bite, I just couldn’t do it. I was stuffed. You could probably share that one roll between two people. Service is great at Satomi. We were always checked up on but not in the hovering type of way. They all greet their customers as they walk in and say goodbye when you leave. You also get orange slices for dessert! I’ll be back. For the Greg roll? Sure. It is darn good.
