I ordered the smoked duck ramen($ 14) at Off The Grid in Cupertino. The duck had a strange taste that I wasn’t familiar with but the broth was delicious — perfect for the cooler weather! The staff was friendly and fast. Overall, it was a great dinner. I can’t wait to come back and try the duck fat poutine!

Ok, what the eff did I just pay for and eat??? How they somehow justified charging $ 16 for the saddest ramen I’ve ever had in my life is completely lost on me. My office is half a block from where the truck was parked and my soup was room temp when I sat down to eat. Forget the flavors and the noodles(which were meh IMO) the soup was just straight up served to me cold. I could gripe about what ramen is «supposed to be» but honestly idgaf as long as it’s hot, reasonably priced and tastes good. They failed on most counts. Bummer!

Tried Pluck today for lunch, while they were at the G lounge in SOMA. There was no wait, service was good, and the food was ready pretty quickly. I ordered the smoked duck ramen, which overall was pretty good as far as food truck ramen goes. The broth was really flavorful, duck nice and tender, and the mushrooms were great(not sure what kind they are but LOVED whatever they marinated it in). The taste and texture of the noodles were a bit off and the poached egg didn’t quite break in the right way. However apart from that I’d say pretty decent ramen. They also offer it with foie gras on some days, which I imagine would be pretty tasty as well! My friend also ordered the duck fat poutine, which was basic but good. Loved the gravy and addition of the green onions, but not sure if I’d order it again. Overall a pretty decent experience. I recommend going if you’re as much of a duck lover as I am!

Finally got to try Pluck when they were at Off The Grid Foster City and they pretty much met my expectations. What else can I expect from a truck focused on duck entrees? They have Duck Ramen, Duck Tacos, Duck Pastrami Sandwiches, and Duck Fat Fries. It’s a pretty straightforward spread but I like the creativity with each one. Granted though, duck isn’t exactly an everyday ingredient, so the prices are a little more on the premium side. Duck Confit Tacos – House made Duck Confit, salsa verde, pickled red onions, cotija cheese These tacos were good! You probably can’t it in the pic, but these tacos were loaded with duck confit. Smoked Duck Ramen – House smoked Duck Breast, duck broth, pickled shiitake mushrooms, 63 degree egg, daikon sprouts, green onions, black sesame seeds. At $ 14, this was pretty pricey for ramen, but it’s understandable since duck costs a lot more than chashu. It was still a solid bowl of ramen though and the smoked duck had a lot of flavor and you gotta love the runny egg! So yeah, a very solid first experience with Pluck. Unfortunately during this visit, they only had an abbreviated menu. They didn’t have their famous duck pastrami sandwich or their foie gras ramen, so hopefully they’ll have it on their menu when I visit them again in the near future.

Went to pluck when they were at picnic at the presidio in San Francisco. I love duck… I mean love duck so when I saw this I was pretty excited. WE ordered the duck fat fries and the duck confit tacos. They are averaged priced and like most food trucks can take a minute to get you your food, especially when there is a line. Once we got the food I was sooo happy we waited. The tacos were on the small side and came with two, but looked promising. We got a huge order of fries with a delicious dipping sauce that I am still unsure what it contained. The tacos might be small but they are full of tastiness! Absolutely delicious, all the flavors on the taco work together great. I would definitely order that again. The duck fat fries were also great. I’ve had them at other places and they can really over do it– I don’t want to have grease dripping off my finger, but these were fried perfectly. Like I mentioned the dipping sauce(maybe a truffle sauce) went with the fries great. Overall I would come back to this truck, I cant wait to see what else is on their menu!

Pluck is a truck specializing in duck. No line to get stuck at lunchtime, what luck! Mmm Pastrami Duck tasted 4 stars, no buck. But size of a hockey puck srsly what the —-!

I like the gimmick of serving all things duck, which often gets overlooked due to the ubiquitous chicken. I was really interested in trying the foie gras ramen, but, alas, it wasn’t being served that day(despite being listed on the LCD menu). Not really a place to go if you’re super hungry since the portions tend to be a bit small. But what you do get is ducking flavorful. Duck Pastrami: The actual pastrami was pretty darn tasty. It had all the spices of beef pastrami, but with the subtle gaminess of duck. Very thinly sliced. The bun was soft and chewy. The mustard gave a nice kick, but I couldn’t taste the onion that strongly. Duck Fat Fries: Crispy all around with soft insides. At first I swore I could taste the duck fat, but they kinda started tasting like regular fries after a few bites. Liked the spicy ketchup; tasted like it had harissa or something in it.

Tasty and decadent duck based dishes. However, the long wait takes away from this food truck’s experience. Granted, it was during Picnic in the Presidio but the wait was definitely longer than the other establishments/vendors. And, $ 10 for a small slider and a handful of fries seems steep.

I ordered the pastrami sandwich with duck fat fries. It was great and I’m glad I gave this truck a try. My fries were overly salty. I’m not sure if it’s the nature of it, but the sandwich was so good, the fries didn’t even matter. $ 10 total

Really nice presentation… I was super excited to have a duck confit taco, unfortunately there just wasn’t any explosion of flavors. Nothing stood out. All four of us were quite disappointed.

I’ve ordered the duck confit tacos twice at OtG’s Picnic at the Presidio. Both times the food was delicious, served quickly, and priced reasonably($ 6 for 2 tacos). Service is also very friendly here. I look forward to returning and trying some of their other duck specialties!

I associate intense, rich, fatty flavor with duck. I immediately jumped in line to try Duck Ramen at Off the Grid Picnic. They’re incredibly friendly but the ramen was rather disappointing. The duck itself was good and i enjoyed the poached egg. Ramen is all about the broth though! My ramen expectations are pretty high from living in the bay area and southern california. The broth lacked flavor and the duck couldn’t hold up again it. I think a duck truck is great though and I’ll have to come back and try their sandwiches.

This truck was amazing. The Duck pastrami on the brioche bun was awesome. The duck fat fries was so good I didn’t even need ketchup for them. Would definitely eat at this food truck again.

This is a gem of a Food Truck when you see it at an event as I did tonight at the Foster City Wednesday event. Presentation was awesome and the meal was delicious and tender. Gotta try it.

Duck products. Interesting, huh? Well, the duck pastrami was delectably juicy and tasty but a bit small. The three side slices of homemade dill pickles were on-point. I will try the other products may be sometime in the future, but the duck itself isn’t a main draw for me.

Duck Pastrami — This slider makes me want to betray my brisket BBQ loving ways and move into this food truck so I can eat this forever.

Duck pastrami?! Yes please! Amazing flavor combo with the perfectly cooked smoky duck, savory onion jam, and slightly sweet brioche bun. The food truck at the presidio was small but oh so worth it.

This review marks the first one under a new system that I am using where I will no longer be using a point deduction system but rather, given everything about the place: price, quality, service, would I return to this place? I am using this new system after I noticed that there were some places I’ve reviewed that received the same number of stars as other places that I like ten times better. Therefore, while it may result in harsher ratings, I feel like it will be a more accurate system. The rating system will be as follows: 5 stars — One of my favorites places; I would recommend this place to someone 4 stars — I would return to this place 3 stars — The only time I would come to this place is if there were no other options. 2 stars — I think this place should seriously reevaluate their business or shut down 1 star — Enough said(I hope I don’t have to ever deliver such a rating.) Now with that being said, Pluck definitely fits the five star category. The service is very friendly, typical of most food trucks and while the price is a little high for the amount of food you get, the items are delicious. I got the duck pastrami and the duck taco. I do wish that I had added a bit of siracha to the taco as I like a little bit of spice, but it was still good nonetheless. Duck tends to be a little fatty, which definitely boosted the flavor of the sandwich and the taco. I now always look forward to when this food truck shows up at Moveable Feast!

The duck tacos are filled with lean, crispy duck that is topped with pickled red onions that are very good and an aioli type sauce. Best eaten right off the truck. We brought two home to eat the next day and the taco shells became hard. If you have never had duck before or habitually avoid duck, this is a good place to try it.

I have to say Im a bit disappointed in the ramen. The Duck itself was excellent. The pickled mushrooms interesting. But the noodles and broth were just ok. For $ 8 it’s a pretty small portion. I had to go get some more food after. Can I just get $ 8 of pure duck next time?
