I came here for lunch and their lunch specials are totally worth it. There are many bento boxes to choose from including teriyaki chicken, beef, and katsu chicken. I get the teriyaki bento box that comes with miso soup, teriyaki, California rolls, rice and a salad for $ 8. That is pretty darn cheap for a bento! The miso soup is superrrr salty and I always have to dump in ice water to make it less salty. The food is average once again but it will suffice, especially at that price. The people there are nice enough to split the bill in two so that we can each pay with credit card which is always nice. **TIPS** 1) Lunch specials are super cheap! 2) Enjoy!

This place is the absolute worst. Chicken here is very obviously frozen and stored for way too long. Sushi is below average and the wait staff here will provide different levels of service depending on your race. You work hard to earn your money and the staff at Oedo should have to as well. Please spend your money at a restaurant that earns your patronage.

Fresh, well prepared Japanese food. Yes it’s Chinese owned and the food is almost but not quite authentic Japanese cuisine and atmosphere. Regardless, food is great tasting and a great variety. If you want sushi, they have it and it’s fresh and a wide range of fish. If you want maki, they have it and it’s tasty good. If you want a bento box, they have that, but I haven’t tried it yet. My dad did, and he seemed satisfied! Oh and if you want soup they have a selection of udon and Ramen! I tried both and they were good! Udon was light and filling in a way that you can only appreciate on cold chilly nights. the ramen was good, though the ramen we ordered had been over seasoned with sesame, thought that was odd. It wasn’t overly salty like at some ramen houses, I appreciated that. All portions are generous, well made and tasty, and prices are fair. I do like this place and find myself coming back more and more despite more authentic and closer places to home.

I feel like this is an extremely biased review– but I’ll give it anyways! This is just your ordinary Japanese restaurant run by the Chinese. I love the restaurant. Although, it is not authentic«Japanese» food, everything about the food is so fresh. I’m always willing to hit up Oedo if I need a cheap and fresh order of California Rolls(3 pieces). Ice cream on the house is also a plus if you sit down to eat!!! :)

Came here for lunch. I work close by but for some reason never stopped by until now. Started off with a couple orders of saba and unagi. The sushi chef was really friendly and the order came out quickly. Simply put the fish was fresh and really tasty! For the main course we decided to try the chef’s special. It was a a great mix of grilled items and sushi. The grilled lamb was juicy and full of flavor. The bass with a hint of lemon was amazing. Even the California roll(I know I know my friend not me I swear!) Was the best ive had in a long time. Overall, I wouldnt definitely recommend it to friends and come back again.

Two stars is actually pretty generous, considering the experience we had with the service. After we were finished with our meal and driving away, the waitress ran out and tapped on my car window. Waitress, «WHEREISRECEIPT??» My coworker, «…uh…YOU have the receipt. We left in on the table.» Waitress, «NO! YOUTAKETHISONE!!! GIVEMEOTHERONE!!!» Coworker, «Sorry? What do you want?» Me, «Dude, I think she wants the merchant copy.(To waitress): Can’t you just use the customer copy that you have?» Waitress, «GIVEMETHERECEIPT!!!» Coworker, «Well if you reprint it I’ll sign it for you again.» Waitress, «…(gives a dirty look, storms off).» And then at that point, we just drove off while I apologized to my coworker for choosing this place for lunch. That’s what I get for ignoring Unilocal and thinking hey, maybe the 2.5 star average is undeserved. Btw, the food was pretty mediocre. And came out pretty slow compared to Tango Sushi, where we usually go for lunch. Also, why is the roll selection so small on the menu? They hardly had any rolls. The booth we sat at had a really dirty wall. Even without the bad service experience, the most I would give this place is a 2.5. And since no halvsies are allowed, there you go.

The Japanese chief was definitely really friendly. As we arrived early and that almost nobody was in the restaurant, he was also all ours and made on demand all the sushi we wanted. Compared to other sushi places, the fish was definitely fresh and awesome. So in short, delicious food and really friendly team !

I always like this place. I eat here for lunch on a weekly basis. The chef and servers are really nice. I’ve had most of their sushi and sashimi, the terriyaki lunch set, and katsudon and I’ve been happy with everything so far. It’s not the best sushi, but it’s decent. My favorite light lunch is usually the appetizer sashimi, miso soup and seaweed salad.

I’m very surprised to see Oedo’s low ratings! The food isn’t terrible for the price & quantity. Sometimes my company cater their bento’s for our lunch meetings and the food has really grown on me. My friend and I also came here one other time for lunch. We like to order their cheap yet filling bento boxes. The terayaki beef & chicken boxes are usually pretty good. 3.5STARS

Owner is super nice. Came here one night 30 minutes before closing & he still insisted that we sat down. He gave us extra sashimi on our sashimi platters & even customized our plate to our favorites. Even though it was 9 o’clock at night the sushi was STILL fresh. The appetizers & other dishes were delicious as well. The sushi rolls were not as «special», but they were still delicious!

1 star for the cheap lunch specials Tried the beef teriyaki bento box. The salad came with watery salad dressing & the beef teriyaki was just mediocre.

So first off, went to this place on a road trip to Tahoe. Wanted some dinner before a long drive and impulsively just decided on Oedo when we drove by and saw the neon Ramen sign on the door. Get in, get seated, check menu… WHERESTHERAMEN!!! You advertised ramen on the door and not have it??? Ok fine, no Ramen, but some Soba and Udon. Along with that there are a variety of Sushi and bento box selections. Friend ordered Udon, Tonkutsu, and bento box w/sashimi and sushi. Friend tried to get only salmon sashimi with his box instead of tuna and salmon. Response«Extra $ 2 to make one kind»… uh. ok why is that? $ 2 extra for getting one kind of sashimi!!! are you kidding me? Ok fine, they don’t let you change up their set menu. so another friend and I ordered the Chirashi. Pictures look decent and seemed like a good price($ 13.50). Miso soup came with our meals. w/a SPOON!!! What Japanese restaurant puts a spoon inside their miso soup??? Wowowow… Friends got their food, while my friend and I, who ordered the Chirashi, didn’t come. we were waiting… waiting… how long does it take to cut up some fish and put into a bowl!!! we had to ask the waitress twice to check our order. in between that the manager came over asking us about a mistake in our bill. oh wait the mistake was actually for another table… where’s our chirashi? «let me check» So finalliy the chirashi came. you can tell the fish was RUSHED. Each piece of fish on the bowl was like a block of fish. This thing was HUGE! I wish I took a picture… they took so long and then they rush the cutting of our fish. yep. thanks. UnilocalERSBEWARNED! Eh. If your around the area and really need food and this is the place that’s open. Sure. It wasn’t much about the service, but the food. I expected a bit better. It seemed like my eel and rice entrée was microwaved and served to me. Ehhh. No, thanks.

It’s so hard to find any Japanese restaurant owned and operated by actual Japanese people. Honestly, when I went in to order some lunch to go, I got the usual Japanese greeting, but thanked me in Mandarin as I walked out(I’m Vietnamese, but in their defense, I’ve been mistaken for a Chinese person many times. Must be the dark Ray-Ban glasses). But anyway, tried a lunch bento box with chicken, tuna sashimi(3 pieces), 4 pieces of tempura, with rice and misu soup. All of them are nothing special. Sashimi didn’t taste that fresh, but at least they didn’t totally screw up the chicken and other food items!(aka, I didn’t puke or get a stomachache afterwards) However, $ 9 for that is BS. I’d rather have my Thai Food at BKK for lunch then!

First, let me give you a bulletin: this place is amazingly awful. Next, let me give you some background: We used to visit this place often about 6 or 7 years ago. The rolls were nice and it had a pleasant ambiance. We stopped dining here because other options opened up close to home and the cooked items at Oeda were poorly prepared. Our family regularly dines on sushi and sashimi throughout the Bay Area. We’ve had excellent sushi as well as sub-par Japanese food and service at a variety of places. By far, this is the worst experience we’ve ever had. My son and I had some shopping to attend to in south Fremont this evening and decided to revisit one of our old haunts. Oh, what a mistake that was. The service was so offensive we thought we might be in a comedy sketch from Saturday Night Live. I won’t go into details, just trust me that my son and I were laughing at the unbelievable rudeness all the way home. I believe the sashimi is frozen and thawed and is quite mushy and distasteful. My son’s teriyaki beef was tasteless and overcooked. Although we sat at the sushi boat bar, only two items were placed in the boats while we were there, and it was 7:00PM. on a Saturday night. After I returned my mushy sashimi, we heard the staff behind the bar talking loudly about us in Japanese. Too bad they didn’t know we are fluent in Japanese. Anyway, if you want to be insulted and have really bad sushi and sashimi, definitely go to this place. Otherwise, beware!

Before we went in I had read some comments and reviews and there were some good and some bad, so be decided to go in. We were seated and given a menu but the waitresses where being kind of nosy and kept asking us if we were ready. When the time came to order for the three of us we ordered a lot meaning to have left overs but the waitress kept insisting that we should stop because it was too much food. But we knew what we wanted and we asked to keep the menu for a little bit longer just in case we wanted something else. As soon as we put the menu down she ran to put it back even though the Restaurant was very empty the whole time. The food came out in a decent time and was ok, but I’ve had much better. During our meal our waitress kept a very close eye and insisted we wouldn’t waste anything and told us to eat the left over rice on the plate. I think the most decent part of the meal was the green tea ice cream. Our meal was VERY pricey for the amount of food we ordered. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place. BESURETO read the review about the sushi sheff’s booger!!!

I was so disappointed at the ratings here because I’ve been eating here on and off for the past ten years, and considered it one of my favorite restaurants(I’m not a huge fan of fusion sushi)! I figured it must have been because of the snooty waitresses and service, and not the food. I came back to eat a handful of times in the past year and it’s steadily gone downhill. First it was the service going bad-the waitresses they hired over summer didn’t seem to be ready for the lunch rush and forgot our orders, didn’t bring out tea+water, and almost dropped our food when it did get here. But the food was still as good as I remembered so it wasn’t a huge deal. Fast forward to last week, I came for dinner and both the food and the service was no bueno. I got the bento box w/two items: pork cutlet and California rolls. The rolls were more rice than anything else and had the teensiest slivers of avocados in them(come on now, if you’re gonna be charging $ 13 for a bento box don’t skimp out on avocado in your rolls!), and the pork cutlets were extremely dry. I’ll probably come back in the future, but only because I’ve been coming here for so long.

I figured this place would be a disaster once they sat me down and failed to give me a menu. Anyway, my friend and I both ordered the two different types of ramen and were surprised by the complimentary California roll and agedashi tofu(the taste of both were bland and seemed not only premade, but frozen), but other than the two small appetizers nothing else was pleasant about this place. It is evident people don’t come here for sushi as the other 4 or 5 tables around me had the bento box lunch specials and there was nobody seated at the sushi bar. Aside from the flavorless ramen we ordered a couple pieces of nigiri which were really dry and hard… Unfortunately, my hunch from the beginning was right about the restaurant.

Dynamite Baked Roll(salmon, crab, eel) — meh… not bad, but not remarkable either in a «it’ll do» kinda way. Crunchy Cali Roll– oh man… ugh I dont even know why I bothered finishing the whole piece. It was not crunchy and when I bit into it the thick tempura layer was just mushy, tasteless batter. I also felt like this place was kinda pricey for the quality of the food.

My family and I are also regulars here, so I’m surprised to see such a low rating on Unilocal! The servers and owner are always super friendly, and provide excellent service. Free green tea ice cream is always a plus here too. We’d been coming here forever, and I’ve really noticed a decline in customers ever since before the Albertsons left the shopping center. Now the shopping center is half empty and so sad, so it figures that less and less people come here. I love their yaki udon and dragon roll and my brother always gets a bento box. Food-wise, there are definitely plenty of better Japanese restaurants in the area, but we always end up back at Oedo! I will also second the awesomeness of it being Taiwanese-owned, and will attribute my family’s loyalty mostly to this fact.
