I have to agree with the other 5 Stars… Great«Mom & Pop» music store in Fremont, very few of these around anymore. The owner Jim is an old cat who chats and talks with you about your purchase and does not try to oversell you. He finds out what you need and gives you options to choose from. My daughter needed a practice amp for her Bass Guitar to keep in her bedroom, he sold us a nice little amp to keep by her bed that’s got good tone and volume, but not so massive, it’s rattling the house down. Buy local and help keep these old fashioned institutions going!

Great service… very personalized attention. The owner(Jim) knows what he’s talking about! I got a great deal on a beginner guitar and case and learned some blues notes during my time there… thanks Jim. I’ll be back!

Came in looking for a guitar and ended up talking to the owner for a good 2 hours. Awesome owner with a mom and pops feel to his shop. His friends cam ownerThe gives you a lot of insight and information and doesn’t try to short hand you for a quick buck. Recommend this place as it is a great place for beginners to intermediate players.

Great Place to buy your first guitar. The prices are reasonable. Adjustments, strings and miscellaneous hardware is available. Jim is relaxed laid back and appreciates talking a good story. Fun loving and happy!

We ended at Jim’s to search for a violin for my daughter, we dont have a clue about instruments. Jim was very helpful with setting my daughter with her violin. Yes he is a bit disorganize, but perhaps it may be his personality or age. as long as he gets his work done that’s what matters very social & that is what keeps him in business. He’s a down to earth kinda guy!

Jim is thee best! Jim has helped me out of many musical ruts and actually helped me rewire and build a few custom Telecaster guitars! Many years of tech and musical knowledge in that head of his! Love the man!!!

nice guy, but awkward… went in after getting a brand new dean electric. had it for a couple days wen i realized a couple strings snapped behind the locking nut. got some strings and tried to fix it myself, but seeing as its got a floating tremolo i dnt kno wat im doing so much on those. so i brought it down to jim. got in around 1 pm on a saturday. we sat around for a little bit talking about the guitar and wat i needed done. he says its easy, charges me then i stand awkwardly in the shop for about another 20 mins as theres 2 other ppl in the shop standing around awkwardly waiting their turn, i say alright thanks see u tomaro. he says its easy, he should have it done either that day or the next depending how busy he gets. so i show up a couple hours before closing the next day, same deal except he was eating lunch. we began talking about the guitar again, i tell him dnt worry about the time i just need it done right. he says again, today or tomaro. i go back home. he calls me 3 hours later and says to come on down and pick up my guitar. i get there and he forgot to tighten a string down all the way and the guitar isnt tuned. i tell him and he just tells me do it… thats y i paid u $ 35!!! i can restring a guitar! i cant adjust the tremolo!!! worst customer service ever. i could have learned how to fix my guitar on utube and done it 10 times already by the time this guy got it done. guitar now has a buz and intonation is off. but its got new strings and its almost in tune!!! fml overpriced, disorganized beyond belief, and incompetent. good guy but the shop sux balls. if u want some dirt cheap vynals/vintage equipment than its not bad, so long as u haggle with the guy a bit. other than that, go to allegro or guitar center. even if u live next door to jims, its worth going a few minutes down the road to allegro. trust me.

Went to buy some strings. No other customers in shop, just Jim working on a guitar. He says«hi», I say«Hi, need a set of strings». He says«ok» then ignores me and continues working on the guitar. I wait… and wait… and wait…5 minutes of silence and I finally said«ok, I will buy them online». I now buy all my strings and parts online. For the record Allegro sucks too.

Jim is a good guy — he talks you down to the evening, but you can see the history and authentic feel his shop has that commercialized music stores could only dream of having. He set up my acoustic guitar for a pretty fair price and I always enjoy coming in to jam as it’s very low key in terms of people coming in and out.

Jim is really cool. We bought a bass and a guitar from him for my 13 and 10 year olds and we are very satisfied.

Yeah, Jim likes to talk. I don’t go to see him unless I have time cuz I like to talk too. He does have a little trouble focusing on one customer but I just walk around and look at all the stuff he has laying around. Better than going to SPam Jose were I have to listen to a room full of pimple face kids playing stairway or drop d crap.
