A neat little place to visit along the river. They have a good variety of beer(including local Wisconsin beers like New Glarus and Lakefront) and other drinks available with some good specials on the weekends. Being a sucker for the traditional Wisconsin Friday fish fry, and after having lived in the fresh-fishless desert that is Arizona for the past 4 years, my expectations have already been lowered a fair amount. Gala’s Friday fish fry is pretty mediocre, with options to get ¼lb bluegill/perch with ¼ shrimp, or ½lb bluegill/perch, each around $ 14. Breading was a good consistency, fish was pretty bland without tartar sauce, and the shrimp was just… shrimp. Even the cajun shrimp didn’t have any kick to it. The pretzel bites we tried for the appetizer were über salty(it’s easily brushed off the top, though) and the dill dipping sauce didn’t quite pair with them, but the beer cheese and honey mustard were great flavor enhancers. They do have a great outdoor seating area with an outdoor bar that they open when the weather is nice, and just enough dock space to accommodate a solid amount of boats. They also have a campground on-site for trailers, campers, and RVs. With minimal options when cruising along the river, this is a solid place to stop and nosh if you’re looking for something fried, if you’re looking for a good beer, or if you’re just looking for somewhere to enjoy the weather other than on your boat.
